  • isn't it obvious when we sell sharon and varney then we can bring in someone else but that has to happen in Jan.. dissapointed though!
  • This smacks of...our hands are tied financially and if someone wants to make us an offer, we'll gladly walk away and leave it to 'em to sort out.
  • Personally I think this is probably the only sensible thing to do. I think the club is in fairly tight financial pressure and they are without doubt looking for a buyer. If one does come in then I think it likely a new manager will be appointed. In the meantime I would imagine they are looking to parky who does know the squad to get some points before jan. Although we fell away badly after the killer second goal on Tuesday in the other games we have been unlucky not to get a few more points under parky. We need a bit of luck a bit of old fashioned guts a bit of belief and prob a bit of divine intervention.
Whatever the stuff going on behind the scenes parky is the man in charge at the moment that's the situation and we need to get behind him.
  • I f they are looking for new buyers then that would explain why Parky is increasingly looking like a dead man walking and why the players are treading water so to speak-they don't have to try as if new peoplec ome in, they may well be sold off as well.
  • Well at least that spells things out. I will always support the incumbant unless, in extremis, things have clearly gone beyond any hope. I always thought Parky would have at least the period upto the start of the transfer window.

So come on lets get behind him as he tries to knock the shambles that was tuesdays apology for a team into some kind of shape.
  • There is nobody in the world what would buy Charlton at this current time. Next year when we're in Div1 maybe .....
  • Obviously rewarding parkys success so far. It just shows how low we have sunk, the board do not have money to appoint anyone else. How many games before we win will he be given? 15? 20? End of the season? Sad times and unless our youngsters can show something before the end of the season we are bound for division 3 again. I do wish the board will stop using the tired government mantra of the recession to blame all the ills on, it is not the current global economic climate, it is the bad decisions made in the times of plenty that have led us to where we
    are now.
  • all this we need some luck bollox is a joke fffs if that penalty that we 'luckily' got given on tuesday had been given against us i'm sure we'd be crying about how unlucky we were...
good luck to parky cos he's gona need it with a squad of that limited ability
  • Well I did tell you all this last week but all anyone could say was "How do you know?" "What's your evidence?" etc
Just accept that I do know about important things.

The photo of the two chairman positioned ABOVE The Valley floodlights was interesting. Shouldn't the spotlight have been positioned on them?

  • I'll support him of course.....morally what else can one do....but I would have liked to see a new face.
  • Surely a new manager needs time to get to know the players, evaluate the squad, and make changes in January? Now if they come in mid January, they won't have time to do that.

And we could be struggling even more, even further away from 21st.

SCOHAM's point is a valid one.

Begs the questions are current takeover talks in progress, any incumbent would want to name their own manager.
  • I am going to support Phil 100% i hope we can get out of the relegation zone and start getting higher COME ON let's believe!
  • Many fans wanted Pardew out, and now they've got what they wanted. Parky was always going to be next in charge, whether for the short time or long, our financial situation dictated that. Surely, the reasons for that are a) obviously to see if he can make a difference to perfomances and results. b) To use the next month to see who is available and affordable. The board certainly wont rush into making a new appointment like they did last time. I, like many others on here, hope that it isn't too late.
  • Terrible decision..

if we are 50 million in 'friendlt debt' whats another 2 mill on a proper fecking manager, instead of a trumped up herbert who was part of the problem and probably doesnt have the full respect of the squad BECAUSE he was Pards right hand man......

this club is screwed (cue mr and mrs positive ticking me off)

I will watch us tomorrow in the very AM and I am dreading it.........
  • [cite]Posted By: BexleyRed[/cite]Many fans wanted Pardew out.

And many also wanted him in, but alot of them have forgotten that now.
  • I was optimistic re Parky after QPR however after the last few performances,it appears the players aren't with him just like Les Reed. It's a shame as I think he could be a bloody good manager.

But at the time he was a decent choice, did well at West Ham and looked a good promising manager.

We as fans didn't know he'd make such a massive mess of the club.

so what makes you think that the directors knew as well? they're not super human. They may have made mistakes, but I'm sure they didn't know they were making them when doing so! loads of people wanted pardew, loads of people wanted pardew out, it didn't work out. At the time they give the job to the person that is best suited to it. It is a risk, but thats like any employer giving a job to any employee. Some of you employers may have employed a duff member of staff that may have messed things up for you.....no?
  • Sooper, Sooper Al.....Sooper Alan Pardew.

  • C'mon Phil, let's do it tonight!!

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/championship/3758611/Phil-Parkinson-desperate-to-kick-start-Charlton-revival-with-victory-over-Derby.html
  • Have changed my mind about Mr Parkinson, I was definately in the new bloke from outside required camp before. The more I see of him & his decisions you can see he is his own man (Not a Pardew yes man) & whilst he is in charge will get my 100% backing, just hope the players do the same for him which after Coventry does make me wonder.

Whatever way Charlton do go with regards a new Manager it is imperative that we start to get results soon as it wont matter who we get in four games time if we are still marooned on 17 points. Come on boys tonight is so so crucial!
  • might ( am) be geting very old but id swear ive herd the mantra " its crucial tonite/day ---get behind the manager team----etc etc etc"
  • As some one said above, how is this going to improve stability?

Keeping Parkinson on as a caretaker is going to achieve nothing. Give him the job till the end of the season or get someone else in, either way the board need to stop fecking about and let coach, players and fans know where they stand.

I am one that has always backed the board but they simply don't seem to be learning past lessons and keep lurching from one bad decision to the next.
  • I just can't help but feel the club have learnt nothing from the Les Reed saga. 'Manager does rubbish, give job to cheap insider, who proves to be totally inadequate, then get new man in but it's too late'. If Pardew had another 3/4 games that year we'd probably have stayed up. I just feel that Parky won't turn it round and by the time the new year comes we will have wasted another 4 league games and the new man won't have had much time to assess the squad and plan for new arrivals. Yes we did ok against QPR but that was in Parky's first game so you'd expect some kind of reaction, since then we drew with a rubbish Southampton team and were woeful against Blackpool and Coventry who to be fair are 3 of the poorer sides in this league.
I'd love to know why some people on here think Parky will turn it round? What are you basing this hope on? We need 2 wins just to get out of the bottom 3, by January that could be 3 or 4 wins then who will want to come and play for us?
  • more important would be a new manager would have some time before the window to check out the squad and its weaknesses, I'm afraid I'm in the mistake camp.

Of course there may be no money to spend/room for wheeling and dealing in the window anyway
  • Have accepted our possition both on and off the pitch now, gona be an interesting rest of the season. just gona buckle down and have a laugh.. I think were going down faster than Jamie with his magic torch but hey ho, lets go down fighting and smiling.. Live Laugh Love and Be Happy..

  • I don't think the Board are with you there mate, Parky will be off come Jan if results go against us.
