This is the biggest gamble the Club has taken in a long, long time.
Les Reed?
Yes, bigger. Then, even if relegated, we still had the chance of bouncing back within two years whilst we had the parachute payment. Now we've screwed that up too and are facing the abyss of League One without two pennies to rub together and no saleable asset along the lines of Darren Bent...

I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years we are regarded as the new Bradford
As there can be no further changes to the playing squad until the transfer window opens on January 1st, and as Phil and his coaching and backroom staff know the players, it is our view to give Phil a run up until the end of the year, when there will be a strategic review of the position,” said football club board chairman Richard Murray.
So come Jan the 1st when were bottom by 12 points and playing in front of 10k the board will sit down for another Month and have a 'Review of the posistion' as we lose more games and head deeper and deeper into the merd. They need to grow a pair and act now, shape up or ship out.
Added Chappell: "Until an appropriate offer comes along, we will continue to run the club in a manner that will balance the books and keep the club financially secure, and also put us in a position to hopefully secure future investment when the economy improves.”
Right enough is enough
right now Chapple should be saying fuk all about shit like this it should all be about getting the helll out the fecking massive hole we are in on the footballing side of things.
i am sick to death with comments like this coming from our club we all know we are for sale to the next person who comes in wth the right money..
Mr Chapple if you are logging on focus on sorting the shit money grabbing bstds who are letting this club down week in week out instead of touting us around to all and sundrie
disagree all you want folks but i fail to see how this helps our current situation
Atleast Muzza says focusing on staing in the chumpionsip god i wish that man was bacjk at the controls of this club
By the way good luck Phil youre going to need it because unless those players have had a good hard look at themselves all you are doing is keeping it warm buddy
[cite]Posted By: adamtheaddick[/cite]What Stabiltity people!!!! Still losing and inept performances... if he was the savour we would have seen it from game one!! we lost !!! were are we gona win 12 games?? all we can pray for is that notts forest and the others stay around us, come jan sell ZZ and Shelvey for as much bunce as poss and use that money and hire bloody Anne Sullivan...
If you mean my post. By stability I mean get some stability. Giving the caretaker manager a possible longer term tenure after Jan 2009 doesn't do that.
[cite]Posted By: SID[/cite]I have to say I think it's a mistake. Parky may, or (more probably) may not be able to turn it around. But either way stating he's got up to 2009 does nothing for stabilty. Better to give him the job till the nd of the season than string out the uncertainty longer IMHO.
completely agree.
All this says to me is we want rid but can't afford it, so if we wait till the transfer window opens we might be able to offload ZZ for enough to pay for parky's termination. Then we can get our preferred man in place.
Meanwhile we are risking 4 league games by not biting the bullet and either giving him the job for real or getting someone else in. when you consider we probably need to win 50% of our remaining 24 games to stay up that is a very big risk to take. 12 from 24 looks hard. A bad christmas period and needing 12 from 20 will look impossible.
my god, people will read what they want to read into things.
Lets just get behind parky and the players for the next 5 games so that parky is given a chance to do what he can do.
I know some of you guys think you can do better than the board, but unfortunately for you guys, it isn't up to you.
Some of you were saying you weren't spoken to by the club and that they had gone silent with regards to a manager, now you are, and you don't like what is said. make your minds up.
come on parky, give them players a massive kick up the backside this weekend and get us back where we belong!
[cite]Posted By: LenGlover[/cite]One could construe that the statement today rather confirms American Addick's thesis...
you could, or you could construe that they all agree that this is the best thing? you could actually disect the whole article and come up with half brained theories as to why the world isn't flat too?
I can feel another self imposed temporary posting ban coming on. have a good weekend all.
Are you not concerend by the constant referal from Mr chapple on the club being for sale Suzi and not focusing on the exact sentitments that you have stated with regard to Parky
totally poor timing all we should be hearing from the club is we are backing Parky we need everyone to pull together that the players are embarassed about the shoit they put on display Tusday night

Possibly but in that situation with the board of other organisations one spokesman speaks for them all.
Two spokesmen is an unusual scenario hence my observation.
The truth of the matter is that I have no idea one way or the other but AA touched a few nerves last night for sure which leads me to think that there could be something in what he says.
Weve got behind the team ever since Pards took over, we all turn up and clap and shout support we will do the same again on monday night its not up to US to get behind the team and Support them. Were Charlton Athletic supporters we have and will allways do our bit, its up to the players staff and officials to there fecking bit now!!!!!
NLA we could agrue --discuss this till we r old (or very old in my case) but when Zebel went walkies the Board did say atthe time we would still be looking for a buyer. Plus i cant see how we can get big investment without new owners. Thats not a knock on this board.
I am sorry to have to repeat myself but as everybody else seems to want to do it can I just reiterate - the priority here is stability. It is the key to building a sustainable team. In 3½ seasons we have employed 80 different players and 5 managers. All change has achieved for us is a downward spin cycle.
The Blackpool & Coventry displays were poor but simply going for another spin of the revolving door will at this point in time heighten the problem.
Someone listed 40 candidates but on what basis can anyone guarantee any of one of them is better placed to turn it round? Of course people are entitled to their opinion but on what do they base their opinion – 1 or 2 performances? How many of us would keep our job if judged on such a basis?
You would have thought the results of 3½ years of continual change would have taught us the grass is not always greener.
Grapevine, you're right about lack of stability however I wouldn't call the sacking of Pardew as a symptom of continual change, in fact he was left too long in his job by about 6 weeks.
Unfortunately, due to no money, we are in a situation where we can't change even if we want to.
You mentioned Blackpool and Coventry performances what about Sheff United and Barnsley! This is some of the poorest football seen down The Valley for many a year (prolly going back to 1983/4).
Continual bad managers and continual bad board decisions have got us where we are, not brassed off fans having a pop on here.
I hope Parkinson can do it, as I like Kinsella and Chapple there and he spoke sense after the Cov match, but if we are heavily adrift by Jan 1st, the board will need more than just a strategic review. . . . .
GH you are spot on mate major investment needed no doubt about it i just wish that until things look a bit rosier on the footie front the only vomments from inside the club are based on what we are doing day to day not touting us about and repeating the same line who in their right mind with money would look at us now.
P hsbe no issue with Mr chapple looking for the investment mate quite the opposite i just think that there was an opportunity there to focus on the football and show us that the board are all pulling in the same direction with the same priorities alas i feel he has said the wrong things at the wrong time

Surely a new manager needs time to get to know the players, evaluate the squad, and make changes in January? Now if they come in mid January, they won't have time to do that.
And we could be struggling even more, even further away from 21st.

After the other night there was nothing there to hang your hat onto that Parkinson can turn it around.
It appears financial and by January 1st we could be well adrift and *really* in the poop.
Glad RM has set the record straight for the interim but could do without reading DC's speel about future investment blah blah blah.
Give over it ain't gonna happen!
Keep the faith people.
Good night.

you spotted it as well we needed a rallying call a roar from inside the club yet from the other fella we get a for sale sign stuck on the window
FFS it is getting on my tits
*This opinion may be financially driven.
How did all this pass us by so easily

why the hell not!
id settle for 5 th from bottom and think Parky would do well to get us there.

not we are for sale come and speak to us

We went in to the start of the season full of hope did we??
We went into this season with a better squad than last season did we??
Sorry what a load of bollox
Ive always held Richard Murray in the highest regard..but 15-20 years of good work is crashing around his ears.
