Parky

edited December 2008 in General Charlton
Seems he not up to the job or do we still advocate giving him time.

Sounded grim

  • It was worse than grim.

So many abject performances- could McLeod be the new Mike Small?
Drop all the loanees for Monday and whoever is manager should select all our OWN players.
Oh, and a 'keeper who can save a 35-yard free kick.
  • No, he's not up to it.
He's part of the team that was sacked. He should go also.
  • Bored shitless of blaming some guy stood on the touchline.

A team of players who can't pass a ball, and have zero fight or pride about them.

    Pathetic the lot of them.

There has to be a scapegoat it appears, so it will be the bloke stood on the side, but its the ones on the other side of the white line who are seriously letting us, him and themselves down.

2-1 down and absolutely zero fight or urgency at all.

No one cares enough and its making me sick.
  • Is Mcleod really a footballer ?

he makes Jason Lee look like ronaldo
  • Smudge you make it sound good it was worse than that buddy

Folks it is not Parky's fault but there is a need for a new broom to sweep clean.

The board seriously need to look at themselves and think what did we learn after Les Reed because that is the worse performance at home since loosing In the cup to wycombe at home

i aint even pissed off any more tonight was a shambles a disgrace i am embarresed to say they are my club. I asked us not to give up as fans but the players and the club have already given up IMO

there needs to be a manager at the helm by the weekend to at least try to stay up because at this present moment this club is dooooooomed and we will drop out of 2nd tier of english football
  • Just for RedArmySE7, I thought the ref was rubbish! lol
  • Was impressed by the performance if not the result at QPR, and the first half against Southampton.

Blackpool was evidently poor, and tonight even worse.

Not directly his fault that we can't defend a free kick from so far out, and he's brought in only a few of the players, but unfortunately we can't replace the majority of our squad.

Someone has to get the best out of them, both individually and collectively, and I'm beginning to doubt that he's the man to do it.
  • I said to Jim on the way out, every week we say this player needs to be dropped or this player needs to be brought it or we need to play this way, but I'm afraid it's past that. There is no players left to swap in this position or change in that position, I don't even think the manager needs changing, we just seem to have a bunch of players that really don't give a toss. Some of them look like they want to try but just haven't go it in them, I would like to think I'm one of the most optimistic people on here but I really can't see where we're going from here?

Despite all that I still had a laugh! Cheers lads
  • fair enough Bart - i wasn't blaming him just asking the question- he has to shoulder some of the blame.

3 of the players tonight are his signings

he's definitely trying different things you can;t say he isn't doing that.

But one only played 10 minutes.
    And another scored.

  • oh i'm in agreement that we need a broom, no doubt about that. But it isn't him who is consistently underperforming, or not fighting for life on the pitch.

But my main concern is we haven't the resources to get someone in and give them any form of financial backing to turn things around. A caller on Talksport driving home said we should get Paul Ince. Some people have seriously not got a clue. The only manager we will now attract is a desperate one, or one who is particularly low paid. Paul Ince or anyone else like that will not go from a £1.3m a year job to a £250k one at the best of times, let alone to a side bottom of tier 2 with an imbalanced squad with no funds to change it.
  • Oggs

they have done me in tonight mate seriously i went there full of optimism and genuine belief i leave like looser on the weakest link With nothing
  • and Coventry were toilet, lets add that to the equation as well
  • I have been saying for weeks now that we have some excellent players who just lack confidence and I was hoping that Parky would be able bring this to the team.

Tonight I am sad to say I have changed my mind.

There was not one player out there tonight who had any sort of passion ( maybe with the exception of Holland ) and level of skill worthy of wearing the red shirt of Charlton Athletic.

I hope I am wrong but I fear that if we replace Parky it will have no effect as we are just not good enough.

Normally I wouldn't disagree with your sentiment but tonight there was so much lacking from that performance.

The Burton signing, for me, will get him the push.

How can you play FIVE loan signings and expect them to gel or even out a shift in?

Like the Les Reed bit last time, this short period of TOTAL nothingness will cost us down the home stretch.

It's the 4th minute of injury time we have 6 players lining up alone the penalty box and McLeod passes backwards. . . .

I was shocked by Bailey's performance, it was like a bad Matt Holland impression of PRETENDING to chase shadows.

Your right to blame the players but there's also so much wrong with what's occuring on and off the pitch.
  • yep i forgot that bit and they hadnt won away for 2years lets throw that one in
  • AFKA - You have hit the nail right on the head!

People need to realise where we currently are and where we are headed and lets not get deluded about who we can attract to try and pull us out of the crap we find ourselves firmly stuck in.

I'm fed up of hearing all this 'lets stay positive' talk when we are going from bad to worse as every game passes.

We need something to change and sooner rather than later - Parky just isn't the one to give the lads confidence I'm afraid.
  • You're kidding me? 2 years?.... groan ....
  • cov won away on the 22nd Nov.
  • You have to say Pardew had an eye for a player.

He knew that McLeod had something special for £1.1 Million.

I know how you feel, mate. Obviously I couldn't be there tonight but in 40+ years of supporting Charlton through thick and thin, I've seen enough dire performances in my time.

D'you know, I hate losing but I can take it if the pride is there, the spirit is there, the fight is there.
It's the feckless giving up without having a real go, that gets me.

We used to call it the 'grandstand finish', that last 10 or 20 minutes when even though you were losing, the team gave it everything, huge pressure pinning opponents deep into their own half, freekicks and corners, goalmouth melee - a last do or die effort to salvage the match.

The crowd would be with the players urging them on, as the excitement rose.

Where is the grandstand finish these days? There's no fight from a listless team or crowd.
  • Oh god, I can only pray hes gone when I wake up tomorrow.
  • plus three other times this season ;)
  • Oggy - you can't blame the crowd!!!!!!

When Burton scored the penalty - the noise was huge and for 2 mins we were buzzing ........ until Weaver let in a free kick from 40 yards + .....
  • Dover Athletic won again! Surely, in our current position, we've got to look at Andy Hesenthaler?!

Ogs, its very much an empty grandstand finish these days, in more ways than one !

Ps. And you honestly can't blame the supporters, it is absolutely no different to any other club if they had had three years of decline and still no bloody fight.

    LOL
  • I heard that Paul Ince call as well-never cease to amaze what goes through the head of some fans.

Only one man to sort this out and apparently he's really good friends with Richard Murray....

Also, I can't understand what people are moaning about Burton for, he's far more of a presence than Gray.

2 mins we was only ahead for 45 seconds

the crowd was as dire though supa as i can remember there was no life in it no urgency no fight it was as though we expected to get beaten

the team was shit beffore they scored and we just melted when they did what a load of shit it really was

i am not blaming the crowd for our loss tonight and i dont think oggs was either
