1. Appoint Billy Davies
2. Jonjo needs to start playing, as sadly he is probably our only asset that could be sold for a decent amount of money. A run in the side should give him exposure and improve his development. If Ramsey was worth £4.8m, then given Charltons record at holding out for the right price we could get somewhere near the same for Jonjo in the summer.
3. Give all the Jonjo sale money to the manager to get in the players he wants and start moving us in the right direction
Totally behind Parky while he's the man in the hot seat but I'm torn between two conflicting thoughts.
a) we shouldn't be hurried into making a decision on a permanent appointment, so Parky gives us a useful breathing space.
On the other hand:
b) if he's got , say, three matches, we could be back into a repeat of the final chapter of Pardew, who should have gone after Barnsley but was instead given three more matches from which we got one point. Should it go wrong for Parky and we lose at QPR, draw v Soton and lose away at Blackpool (5-1 up there last year!), then all we will have achieved by failing to move decisively not once but twice at critical moments is to waste six matches, during which time we will have become totally entrenched in the bottom three.
It's a really difficult one.
As for Curbs, he has said the right thing. Etiquette dicates he couldn't really say he'd consider coming back because there is someone currently in the job - albeit for the moment on a temporary basis. But he did not rule it out and I'm encoraged by that.
ps on edit: if Parky has three matches, two of them are away. Given our away record, it would be hard to blame him too much if we lose those. In which case, his future at Charlton might well rest on beating Soton next Sat ?
Lets be realistic here. What would be a good return from our (Parkys) next three games ? 4 points sounds about as optomistic as it gets to me. Is 4 from 9 good enough ? Not to save us. Keeping Parky is just as bad a mistake as hanging onto Pardew for at least 6 games to many. Get rid now before its far too late imho.
Give Parkinson the next 2-3 games to see if he can get a reaction.
Southampton match is our most important for a long long time, lose that and we really are in the shit, table doesnt lie.
Would like the Curbs stuff to be nipped in the bud on Monday, either from a statement from the club or Curbs so we can move on.
If Parky doesnt do much and Curbs is a non starter I would either go experienced short term (struggling for names) or go for a respected cheap up and coming manager, Ferguson, Tilson etc.
I dont like Billy Davies.
QPR away is a tricky start for Parkinson but Southampton and Blackpool should give us an idea of what he can do.
I thonk that Parky is only a temporay manager whilst the board look for someone else - rather than appoint him like they did Les Reed and then have to get rid a month or two later.
hopefully we'll have someon ein by next sat - lift the crowd & the team. We MUST win that game.
Parky is the caretaker. He's managed in the league which Kinsella never has. It may be a disaster but he is the best option in the short term.
If he doesn't have an immediate impact in terms of play and points he'll be out in any case. If we start performing and winning then he'll have to be considered.
[cite]Posted By: Golfie[/cite].some parts of our play today was pretty good & if Bouzza has taken his chance and mase it 5-3 I think we could have even got a draw out of it
Bloody hell!
I've never heard you say anything so optimistic. Never!! Are you sure you're feeling yourself?
I for one don't think Parky is the long term answer and maybe not even the short term one. For me he's been coach under Pardew and has been responsible for set plays and how many have we conceded from set plays in the last four games ? Unfortunately I see him as being tainted by Pards. Curbs is a non runner imo as is Allydyce. Both have done their 'apprenticeship' and will hang on for a PL job. Forget the likes of Hoddle, Robson (B), Gregory etc. The only names I even remotely like are Ferguson, Poyet and Davies from the betting lists. To that I'd add Mark Robson and Adkins, the Scunny manager. However, we couldn't afford Ferguson as Peterborough are not hard up and would want considerable compensation. So for me that leaves the three freebies : Davies, Robson (M) and Poyet. In that order.
We need a short term appointment till the end of the season & someone who is gonna get the fans on-side at that. We have some fairly decent players but we have lacked a truly creative midfield player ala Jensen for a while now, get one of them & I think you'll find our strikers will start scoring we just don't create enough chances games by game.

Totally agree with this but their is a real dearth of available creative midfielders and i think it'll be a long shot to get anyone half decent in, particularly before January.
I would give the job to Billy Davies. He knows this division inside out and he knows how to get a team promoted (Derby). He turned Preston around when he took over from Craig Brown when they were in a similar position to us.
I don't think we are too far away from being a play off team. We need a couple of players who are mentally tough and are going to be up for it week in week out. Players who might not be good enough for the Premier League but who have the right attitude for fight of the Championship. We are too easily beaten at the moment. We need some kick, b****ck and bite in the side.
I do not think Boothroyd, Sanchez or Hoddle are the men for the job and really hope we avoid them. One possibe outsider I would consider is Steve Tilson of Southend.
Get someone who can motivate the players, plays a settled team and get in a creative midfield player. Suspect we can't afford much, so I'll just have to see how Parky does and hope.

A bit like Pardew with Reading.... ;-)
Matty Holland was getting touted on TalkSport quite a bit yesterday. God knows where that was coming from.
I really don't know what we need - a bit of belief is what the players need though. I refuse to believe that our current squad is relegation material which is what makes our position and performances even the more frustrating.

The rot is deeper than the manager.
All going wrong since the end of the parachute payments.
Parachute payments haven't ended yet.
Peter went for his own personal reasons. Great man and great administrator that he is I don't think he ever scored a goal or cleared a ball off the goal line for the first team. We also have a more than capable replacement in Steve Waggott.

think that might be pushing it.... EVERYONE knows we are skint......
Return the loanees pronto.
I personally hope that the latter is the case and there is a distance between them; cos if there isn't it could be more the same (god help us) :(
Interestingly, I am listening to Curbs at the moment and he refused to say that he wouldn't go back to Charlton again.
I think the next 3 games will be Parky's opportunity. If it doesn't go well I would not be surprised if a certain AC ended up back in SE7.
I want to give Parky a chance, but AC back here could probably be the best chance we have of avoiding relegation and its attendant horrors.

communication, basics, belief and pride.
Interesting!
What is meant by basics?

He was at the game on Saturday and looked very sad to see the scenes outside the West stand.
Parachute payments haven't ended yet.

He's a fan just like us. Sure he's hurting just as much.
The new team cannot handle this situation & the manager suffers. Only going to get worse I fear????
Afka what happened? ;o)
Sorry but are you saying that Waggott is a "wide boy out of his depth and on an ego trip".
Or are you some sort of wind up merchant? Very strange stuff to come out with in one of your first couple of posts.
