I think the idea of Curbs on a short term contract 'til the end of the season might suit both parties, gives him a chance to re-establish his credentials, and I think he could steer us to mid table.
Or, how about Martin Allen if we were to go down the route favoured by Latimer?
Darren Ferguson is a great shout - but he must be on decent money at Peterbrough with their chairman.
PERSONALLY -
I wouldn't want Big Sam or his Litle Me Ady Boothroyd - you lot would hate the style of football AFTER A WHILE.
I'd have a punt on Glenn Hoddle -- he's got his academy in spain where we could have pick of the best players there FOR FREE- he's got experience and has managed at this level - ok not for a while but all the same.
But money talks and we don't have much so could be Steve Tilson etc
Parky is in the box seat. A few decent results and he could easily land the job at least until the seasons end. For me personally I want someone from outside who can see the wood for the trees and chop accordingly. Not at all sure Parky can be that objective given his involvement with this set up. A fresh face can often change the dressing room because the players know its a clean slate. Parky cant even offer that. If he does stay on then I fear the worst this season. An internal appointment other than Parky as suggested elsewhere on this board like Kinsella / Powell would also be imho disasterous. We need an experienced hand at the tiller for the rest of this season at least. People are saying we can`t afford " a name" to come in .....Why ? I understand Pardew was on about 800k a year. That must free up a considerable sum. Tying the next mans salary to performance / survival / promotion would also offer more scope to negotiate. Only stumbling block to big name appointment might be transfer restraints. I also believe that any manager out there who might be interested are sensible enough to know that apart from about a dozen or so premier clubs that money in football is getting tighter and has not bottomed out yet and might look at a job at a well respected club like Charlton to be a bit of alright. For what its worth I think Parkinson will get the nod. The board I think have like the whole club lost is desire and might not be able to find the courage to do the bold thing. I hope I am wrong.

Glenn Hoddle...... I know it was a long time ago but thought it was the example of modern tabloidism, that he got trapped in the wong conversation and hence got fired for an opinion he didnt keep to himself......

The last line of that makes me want to drink a bottle of scotch/walk in front of a car etc....
Quite possibly Ledge but i reckon he's got 4 games in charge. He know's that if a new manager comes in, quite possibly he's out the door, unless they have someone lined up already......
I'd like Billy Davies or Holloway, and would have no problem with Reed back as a coach.
Thinking outside the box, George Graham, known for building teams from the back (we desperately need that), would command respect and strong on discipline in the squad, and has won major honours, does he want a job, could we afford him, and would the board touch him?
Lets face it, curbs and charlton needed a break from each other. So we have had the break, now can we finish what we started a while ago Europe here we come
Just catching up with discussions and yep, my logic was completely flawed re Wenger/Bilic and comparing their appointments with any potential appointment of Costa HandG.
I've no idea who or even when but I can't see the board making the decision in a hurry. They need to get it right. I hope before January when the window opens but I wouldn't count on it.
Going to be a lot of speculation and silly names being thrown about (Hoddle FFS) that's for sure.
My preference would be for a younger coach but looking at the impact that Kinnear (a "joke" appointment at the time) has had maybe an old head is the way forward.
Can we afford to be thorough though Henry. If Parky doesn`t get us back on track PDQ we might find ourselves relegated before we appoint. Our next three games might yield 4 points if I optomistic. Good enough.....No not really. We are skating on very thin ice at the moment. Good luck though Parky.
There are not an awful lot of manager jobs around, and quite a few managers without one, I am sure a few will be gagging for the job, regardless of our situation.

We can't be relegated in January even if we can be in an even worse position. I think the board will take some time, maybe take a month or more.
What's the alternative, rush into an appointment and get it wrong? Take whoever sends in their CV rather than try and negotiate with someone in a job.
Just be grateful that there's no supporters' director to stick his opinionated nose into the debate.

i have a nervousness around the appointment and i hope it wont leave me as flat as the waghorn signing
thats why i like him.....
I think the decision could leave us flat and I bloody hope that we finally get it going.... as we all do...

Big Sam/Little Ady - Needs must football, could we really afford either, and with Ady I think he lucked out a bit at Watford in his first season.
Billy Davies would be interesting, but once bitten, twice shy?
I honest don't know, and I don't think it'll be Curbs.
The same voice to the same players.
See how they go out and batter QPR 6-0 NOW.

Money to spend? Not a lot, and parachute payments ending in the summer
Players you might be able to sell for a £1m-plus to raise funds? Er, not really
Career prospects? Three previous managers in two and a half years, all having left by 'mutual consent'
Stability? Board openly looking for new investment, so any new owners may well want to bring in their own man.
If you were an up and coming manager in the lower leagues, you might be tempted to ignore the call from us at the moment...
So we have had the break, now can we finish what we started a while ago
Europe here we come
The more I think about it I wouldn't be surprised if it was given to Parky full time, with maybe Keith Peacock as his number two.
Certainly the cheap otption
anyone with a job as we would have to pay comp.
anyone that comes wih a huge back room staff.
anyone in their first job, Board cant risk it.
so it wont be:
Big sam
Jacket
Decanio
Kins/Powell
Nothing official, just a Palace forum, realistically could make sense, a reasonable history, and not currently employed, so no payments to be made.
