We need a motivator to boost the shattered confidence of the players. Get the best out of them and ship out the deadwood. God thats easy to say but I rekon its a bloody tough job for anyone.
imo now is not the time for a punt on a Costa, DiCanio, Robson et al. We need someone of experience in this division. I can't come up with any better than Billy Davies
Ths won't be a straight forward search and appoint job. A number of factors will be taken into account, the Board are looking to sell, there will be scant money to spend in January and mangers worth their salt will want fair remuneration for their skills and track record. I think a smart move would be to ask Alan C to help us to a comfortable position by the end of the season, when he and we can assess what he wants to do and where the club is at.
Otherwise my choice would be Costa or Allardyce. No nonsense the pair of them and they know how to get a defence defending, which would be great wouldn't it?
Happy days, that's for sure and hoping I'm well enough to return to see the start of a new era at the Valley next weekend.
The only names who inspire me so far are Joe Kinnear (if Newcastle don't keep him) and perhaps Darren Ferguson. Certainly don't want Boothroyd and I think Costa would be a big mistake.
Ian Holloway? What happened to him at Plymouth?
Personally I think Curbs is the best bet but I'd like to see Parky given his chance.

[cite]Posted By: ShootersHillGuru[/cite]Parky has been a senior member of the coaching staff in the worst Charlton team for thirty years. Sorry Jimmy No Way.
Can't see how the other options are more attractive. IMO one reason the board have taken so long to sack Pards is that there aren't many options available, certainly not affordable ones. In any case, as an assistant Parky may have been doing as Pards wanted but thinking that he would do it differently himself.
For me, and in response to jimmymelrose, it's the about the sort of character I think we need in to get what I still believe is a pretty decent squad organised, motivated and getting some decent results under their belts. What experience did Wenger have of Premiership football management before he took over Arsenal or Bilic of managing a team at any level before he took over Croatia?
Totally agree with Jim Melrose about Costa-what does he know about the Championship? Just a former Charlton player that went into management therefore he's the answer? Also, didn't he get sacked by Braga? And in response to Pavo, Croatia and Arsenal weren't in a horrible relegation battle when they took on Bilic and wenger, we very much are.
Billy Davies seems the most sensible option to me.

Mark Robson?
Steve Tilson?
Gareth Ainswoth?
Alan Curbishley?
Oh, and Iain Dowie's still available
I'm personally torn between a Kinsella / Peacock / Powell dream ticket or sticking our balls on the line and going for Paulo.
Allardyce doesn't inspire me as the above does but equally he would be a more sensible and stable choice.

Seconded.
