Thinking more about this, the biggest obstacle to Curbs returning may well be the legal fight he is still in with WHU over compensation.
Taking another job could well diminish the force of his claim aganst them and his fight with West Ham may need to be resolved before he can put himself into the marketplace again.
[cite]Posted By: AFKABartram[/cite]i personally would take him back in an instant. Curbs knows who to organise teams and grind out results, something this squad desperately lack. He also knows what to buy at this level.
I'd welcome any sensible opinion on why you would not want that to happen.
None from me AFKA. You're right. I'll eat as much humble pie as Curbs wants me to.
The problem is that he's already sorted out a Pardew mess once. I doubt he'd want to do it again.
You are all forgetting one thing - curbs really never experienced a relegation fight. Only time he did he failed (first prem season in 98/99 - also he could nber win a game after March !
joking aside - he is probbaly only one of a few who could turn this mess around - him & murray are good friends & wouldn't be surprised if conversations have already taken place.
Also - he isn't currently being touted for another job, even the geordies looked elesewhere.

He did at West Ham Golfie! That's why Sheffield United are pursuing £30 million nicker!
But when are you going to realise he still holds a massive part in Charlton Plc and the manager of the club is going to influence profits etc so maybe he still has more to do than you think?
Floydandharvey: 'At what point are you clowns gonna get that Richard Murray ceased having anything to do with the football side of CAFC six bloody months ago? Seriously, read the internet or something. Sheesh.' Bit harsh? We're all fans.

.
Not sure how you can say the last comment he hasn't managed at this level since 1998/99 - - a lot changed since then
Curbs had his head turned by the Parker deal and the England job. Then the West Ham job came up. You cant blame someone for wanting to manage the team they supported as a kid. Personally, I think he has unfinished business at charlton.
Murray is clearly the man 'behind the throne' the rest is for show/financial reasons, after all he has the experience which no other member of the executive has of the club and indeed football.
For all those who are saying you should never go back - what about when Graham Taylor went back to Watford, he got them two successive promotions to the premier league in his first 2 seasons.
Also, some players and managers only really seem to be suited to one particular club. Derek Hales never really did much for West Ham and Derby, Paul Mortimer only seemed able to produce the goods for Charlton and even Jimmy Seed nearly took Millwall out of the league in his short managers stint there. Maybe Curbs and Charlton need each other.
I'd take him back at a shot - but Billy Davies remains my first preference
Exactly Peakie. You can add Flanagan as well, he never did much at Palarse or QPR before coming home. Curbs and Charlton were the perfect marriage. I can't think of anyone in the entire football world better qualified than Curbs to get us back on track. He put so much time and effort into building an established Premiership side with a great Stadium, it must be hurting him to see it all falling down.
It will take several years to rebuild what has been destroyed at Charlton since we got relegated. There's certainly no quick fix for the mess we find ourselves currently sitting in!

Curbs is odds on with Skybet at 1/2 to be our next perm manager. They are very short odds and having heard the interview on 5Live earlier, I'd say there is a chance, but certainly not odds on.

And wasn't appreciated for doing so there either.

I hate clowns genuine fear of em... but now you just made yourself sound all palace by calling us charlton fans by that name!
would have preferred mugs or summin!
Never look back, that's what I say.

Lets get Curbs back to finish the job he started.

And Curbs is the man to do it
Its either a massive rebuild job or he doesnt bother, no inbetweens for me.
