  • Wimbourne near Bournemouth

Tiny non-league ground, after a day out in B'mouth arrived to find Charlton fans having a kick about on the pitch. Very surreal, but good day.
  • Bermondsey SE16, tiny non league ground.

All the locals were a bit wierd, wanted to throw stones at us, clearly had never seen so many people.
  • Sorry, think Clem's will take some beating.
  • Valencia was a bit surreal. I doubt we'll be back there again in the near future!
  • hibs away was weird a fews ago.
  • Sellhurst Park !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • The Odsal Stadium in Bradford, when their ground was being rebuilt after the fire.
  • Antwerp, for the game against Beerschot, there ground is boarder line non league, and hidden in a remote part of the town.
  • Salisbury's old ground pre season a few years back....just a park pitch
  • bashley away for psf - had to drive through the new forest and it was in the middle of nowhere
remember driving home and seeing deer on the road
remember kids - don't drink and drive ;)

Wasn't that the place where they had a sweep on where the cow would dump a lump first?

Aye it was. I was there for that Bashley game.
  • Shenzhen, remembered for Kish's 30 yard screamer. Bob Whitehand came round with Steve Sutherland to personally greet the few Charlton fans that were there, who later took over the karaoke bar just outside the ground.

Can't envisage another CAFC Asia trip for a while.

    Yep thats the place :)
  • Same trip as Clem...think there were about 40 or so fans made the trip in total.. Think only Clem, myself and our 2 mates were on the party boat tho... All the fans were in the central square before the game drinking and singing and getting kissed by all the hen dos that were out and about (they all seemed to get married at the same time as only about 2 weekends a year had any daylight and kissing foriegn men is a hen tradtion, apparently...I was't complaining). Our mate JP made the trip and then missed both the goals as he was off buying a sausage for each one...not a euphemism...

Met the players afterwards and have a classic picture of us in the dug out with Claus after the game...our mate JP has all the pics on his Facebook for those who know us...

    Took me weeks to recover..
  • Tonbridge in the FA cup and Margate in a pre-season (when we ran across the pitch).
Leigby (? ) Denmark, and Brescia
  • Old Trafford

(one for oohahhmortimer in 20 years time)

I was at Margate and Tonbridge.....also did Dover in the seventies preseason...bunked on a train only to find it was bloody miles from the Priory to the ground and got there at half time....Ive got an even sillier one, but Im too embarrassed to type it....
  • THE Priory , Oz ?

  • Wembley (Twice) very strange watching your club at the national stadium.
  • For the Lass & I it also has to be Bashley - so many Lifers in one place without knowing it - spoookey!
  • Some sandy pitch with not a lot of grass on it .....in a competition with Bournemouth, Swindon and Millwall,
    in Tunisia 1975.

Our party stayed at the same hotel as the team and socialised with them all week. Can't imagine that happening these days.

On the plane out sat next to comedian Charlie Williams.
And on the way back, next to 'King Arthur' Horsfield, our then prolific striker - who told even funnier stories.

Now King Arthur was a legend ...... and a very under rated player too.
  • Hereford and Bury away!
  • I was on the Sweden & Finland trip too but the Oulu (Tervarit) match was in a Premier League ground compared to the one a few days earlier in Byske in Northern Sweden. A town without a bar, although there was one in the hotel. The only hotel. Players came into the hotel afterwards but didn't hang around. Great trip though.

Once saw a Charlton side compete in a summer 6-a-side competion on Dulwich Hamlet's ground, about 1976? I remember three things: (a) we won it (b) Millwall lads getting worked up (c) Paddy Powell having a fag at half time

I was there as well Oggy. I remember being in the nightclub on the hotel complex one night and it was looking like the locals were going to start something ... next minute Barry Kitchener and Harry Cripps walked through the door ... needless to say the locals melted away lol
  • Lyngby in Denmark, though strictly speaking i didn't see much of the game due to excessive amounts of strong Danish lager and a crowd of kids who seemed more interseted in following me around Copenhagen than the game
  • I can't remember much about that game either :)
I do remember staying in a hotel that virtually backed on to the tivoli gardens which we totally ignored in favour of the scottish pub?
  • Harlow. Running track, no terrace just a steep grass bank and being offered out by local Spurs fans. Think it was on TV as well.
  • Didn't Killer score from a corner there ?
