Would you take staying up right now?

  • It’s a perfectly fair question. Irrespective what the Manager says we are in the relegation picture, and will be there until we get to 50 points.
  • [quote][cite]Posted By: shirty5[/cite]At the moment, yes. However the facts don’t lie, and if we keep with Mr P for much longer, I do fear the worse.

Mr Pardew’s record since taking over against Fulham 27th December 2007. (League and Cup games)

Played : 89 (20 of those games whilst we were in the Premiership)
Won: 28 (5 in the premiership)
Drawn: 25 (7 in the premiership)
Lost: 36 (8 in the premiership)

    Win success rate = 31%

However since the start of this calendar year, it looks like this

    Played: 41
    Won: 10
    Drawn: 12
    Lost : 19

    Win success rate = 24%[/quote]

I've just had to read that post twice to realise how awful that record is. It's like the stats they show on SSN just after a manager has been given the elbow. Luckily for Pards he hasn't officially been given the dreaded vote of confidence from on high.

Too good to go down, too poor to stay up, who knows? Right now staying up is the only realistic target and anything even close to a play off place would be an unexpected bonus.
  • The stats are scary.
  • I think we should snap up Andy Hessethaler as assistant coach. If Pards wants to resign/feels threatened then so be it.

    .

That's virtually a season. 42 points. Looks a bit tight.
  • 42 points is relegation nailed on you need 50 in the championship
  • I'd say no to this question - it's not as if we're a Doncaster/Blackpool i.e. small club hoping to survive in new, bigger territory; or a Leeds i.e in big financial trouble (well I hope not!); or even a Southampton i.e . boardroom unrest (then again, who knows??!!!!), so therefore, its still very much possible that the current crop of players, along with the manager's 'new found wisdom(!)' can get us out of the mire and push for the play-offs at least.

Last season, who the hell thought Hull would go up? Who on earth thought Palace would make the play-offs?

Keep the faith - up the Addicks
  • Last season I thought Hull would go up. They've got money?
  • no - not yet - i think there are a few teams even worse than us
i also hope they change the manager so then we should have no problems steering clear of div 3

can i change this sat night please?

Ah, but Steve that's 42 points from only 41 games - 5 to play, 15 points up for grabs, 6-pointers from teams we've yet to play. Can we do it?

    The tension and excitement, eh?

It's just like following the old Charlton ;o)

    What? Change your name?
  • i'm so desperate for us to stay up... we are drained of all confidence at the moment and are in this position cos we are at present a very poor side
PP imo isn't the answer cos he has been coaching this team for a long time
  • [quote][cite]Posted By: jimmymelrose[/cite]no - not yet - i think there are a few teams even worse than us
    Such as???
  • will there be a parachute payment for league 1?
  • I'll take staying up for sure 100%.

What do people think is actually going to happen? We're gonna get automatic promotion?
  • No points from Millwall if they stay down - FACT
  • I would take it now!
  • I would take staying up now, yes.
  • being pesimistic as ever but we are now 2 results from safety, can anyone see us gettin 2 results in a row and watfor not pickin up any points??

There is a long long way but we are already losin pace and going backwards, how long will it be before forrest and donny go above us?

Haven't read any match reports from people who ere there yet but Y was varney even near the squad no matter in the team?? His miss's are serious costing us and its demoralising the entire team

I didn't say that. It was a quote of someone else from a previous page.
  • We are a sinking ship...

glug glug glug (Thats the noise of the ship sinking - Not me drowning my sorrows!)
  • To stay up we possibly have to win about 11 games. Won't happen I'm afraid.
  • [cite][/cite].would we just all throw eggs at pards

Do you reckon he'd accept the invitation? That would be funny. Perhaps we should get Dowie along to join in the fun too.
  • With our defence, of course it's yes. The way things are going, we'll be bottom within the next few weeks.......
  • At the moment we must be odds on to go down. Anone who thinks any different is living in cloud cuckoo land.
  • I agree with oooh Aaah Mortimer above. It cannot be a coincidence the amount of half decent loan players that turn up and then leave looking they'd have a week out on the pop n chop with Pete and Amy.

    So a big fat Yes.
