  • With all due respect how many fans have actually been to Birmingham, and is there any real reason to go again? Other major factors, middle of the month, money is tight, christmas in nearly upon us, and dare i say it, do the team really deserve a huge away following
  • listen our club wasnt on it's last legs when there were only 50 of us at a friday night game at Wolves years ago and it certainly is not a sign of it now.

500 away for a team who are struggling with a manager who is not well liked by most and the team not giving a shite about how it plays at home let alone away.

it is a sign of how poor the form is and how pissed off people are

I'm not going - used to do all the Midlands games but this was never a favourite and in the present circumstances it's a complete non-starter.
  • Our best performance of the season coming up tomorrow :-)

things must be worse than I thought if Airman Brown is staying away.
  • As i've said countless times recently, we've lost 19 of the last 21 aways i've been to.

It will return no doubt sometime soon, but the enthusiasm to travel is just not there at the moment for me, particularly when i'm tight for money.
  • funnily enough since the littlen started comin with me i have done more away games in last 2 years they i have for about 10 years.

We've won just one of my last 21 away games, so I'm staying away. If we win, I'll consider my absence a lucky charm.
  • What was that one game Inspector?
  • Last season I did palarse, Southampton and Plymouth away. A grand total of NINE points.

But I'm not going tomorrow due to family commitments.

  • [cite]Posted By: Friend Or Defoe[/cite]As for the travel, it's only £10 for this game.

not from Spain mate! was looking at 100 euro return just to london so add on brum return and ticket and booze (lots) that's a hefty weekend

    I'm not going cos :-

    A) The team are playing so poorly.

    B) The last time I went to Brum we were let out the ground alongside those nutters with no protection and ended up sitting on the double decker bus outside getting bombarded by Brum scum. Some got on and luckily a guy named Andy smacked one over the head with a metal bar at the top of the stairs. They were even kicking the bus as it drove off, nutters. I won't be rushing back unless the match is really important or I think we might get a result :-)
  • didn't a couple of ours get stabbed by the coaches that day...

They could well have done, but not that I know. They are the Millwall of the Midlands though.
  • Remeber that game well covered end, it was the last time i went to ST Andrews, that was the season we got promited via the play offs, drew 0-0 and prevented them getting in the play offs, i was also on the bus were the guy got done with the metal bar, we were taken back to Birmingham Int Stn and can remeber clearly as their nutters were trying to get at us from the pub at the bottom of the hill, as a grey police horse was pushing them back through the pub door,as the buses went past the pub all u could see was this great big horses arse in a pub doorway, must have been some sight if u was having a beer and seeing some horse standing in the boozer
  • Yep remember this game your on about covered end and wheniwaslittleboy, wasn't it that result that also sent millwal down some how!! Well i was a mere 17 year old and i drove up in my first ever car not long passes me test, got seperated from my bro (morts genius) who we followed up him with a few of his mates and me and 4 of my mates, me and my mate russell was waiting by the main gates after the game thinking Morts genius and the rest was behind us but they wasn't all the others in our group had walked/power walked off leaving me and poor old russ waiting by the main gates, anyway a few big brummie mugs offered us out asking if we wanted a rumble (we were scared punks out of our depths) we just ignored and hoped, we then had to make a brisque walk back to my car to find all the others waiting for us there, hairy moment that, them brummies were effing fuming that day!!!

The main thing i can remember about this game tho is nothing, but afterwards the wanker old bill mug, who was right near us walking out with that silly flimsy metal fence type thing between us and nutty brum fans gobbing at us and pushing the fence the mug old bill said in his stupid arsehole brummie old bill pig mug accent ' they could easily push that fence in you know and do you all cockney arseholes ' I hate old bill, always have done, always will do.
  • To be fair, I think it's a safer place than it was a few years ago-I've been the last few times we've played there and never had any beef outside even when we've won.

Also, if we're on our last legs with 500 away fans, what are they? They're near the top of the league, supposed to be a big club and only just out of the Premiership and they're getting 5000 less than us for their home games. Our away following is the same now as it's ever been-not very good, but who cares-as someone said, rather 500 getting behind the team than 2000 being quiet.

The police up there don't seem to like us / away fans and/or don't give a sh#t. They were not interested that day and also at St Andrews for the play off game against Leeds in '87 ? On that occasion we left the ground outnumbered about 5 to 1 and the coaches had disappeared. When I asked the police where they were, they replied don't know and it was nothing to do with them. I said no way, you must have moved them elsewhere cos they wouldn't have moved voluntarily. Eventually they confirmed that I was right and reluctantly pointed us in the right direction. Both times though I believe that they wanted to see us get a kicking.
  • Shit, after deciding to go I've totally over slept, no time to get to Brum now :(

Last season I did Bristol City, Cardiff, Leicester, Sheff Utd and Plymouth away.
    No defeats.

A grand total of THIRTEEN points.

  • I went to the Leeds game up there, dodging 18000 irate Yorkshiremen was nothing compared to that game vs the Blues in 98. For that game, we took our own security up there as Brum wouldn't pay the OB and it was open season on visiting fans. I have heard it's a lot better now, in truth its not the above that puts me off away games, it's losing them all the time!
  • The only away victory I've seen in the league in the past 3 seasons was last season at Palace. All of seven miles ;-)

Was going to to go to Welling v AFC Wimbledon this afternoon, but I can't even be bothered with that today...
