You could have been right, of course .......

;o)
I don't feel like getting handbagged by certain peeps on here today, Ogs. BDV came close enough...!
What did I say?

Sorry Weegie, no offence was intended.
• No offence taken, BDV!

Just some people would claim I do blame the club for anything and everything - when I don't - I just blame Pardew ;-)
• AGAIN

Midfielder Darren Ambrose has re-signed for Ipswich Town, 11 years after being sold by the Tractor Boys for £1million to Newcastle. The 30-year-old was a free agent after leaving Birmingham at the end of last season, and has a penned an initial deal that runs until January.

• I was a big fan of Ambrose when I first saw him playing for Ipswich as an 18 year old, looked like he was going to be a top player.

I still liked him at Charlton but we didn't get the best out of him.

In the Premier League, Curbs should have played him more often in a number ten role, behind Bent, instead of on the left. He didn't have enough fight in him for The Championship, like most of that squad.
• I'm astonished he's only 30
• I seem to remember he was one of several who had undiagnosed injuries while with us. Problem was identified just prior to leaving us and he started banging them in for Nigels.
• Always used to score against us - regardless of how good he was playing at the time!
• A player that frustrated me no end. No doubt had ability but it was all too rarely shown, bit like Romm.

He was diagnosed and treated in the summer prior to Curbs leaving, frustrating player who rarely was allowed to play in his best position.

In Curbs' last game at the Valley, I remember Curbs shouting at Ambrose at a throw in, "If you don't f'ing move, how do you expect to get the ball!"

Me too.I seem to remember him scoring the winner at Palace years ago,and again at The Valley one Boxing Day,although I had such a blood-curdling hangover I might have imagined that one.

• Probably my least favourite Charlton player ever - either him of Marcus Bent.
• sometimes frustrating but one of our better, and more effective, players until his last season when he was poor - overall unfairly maligned by a few
• I seem to remember he got quite a lot of stick when he was at Charlton rather than support, most of it was unfair and a bit over the top imo, no wonder he didn't perform at his best for us, seemed like the type of player who needed to know he was loved by the fans in order to get the best out of him Scored a belter at the Vallley against Man United.

Don't know why people persisted in calking him Sharon Ambrose, when there was a picture in the programme of him and his new wife?
• The problem with Ambrose was when he wasn't 'on it' he may as well have not been on the pitch. I don't expect all players to show John Robinson levels of commitment, but if you are going to decide you don't have to tackle, mark or track back then you'd better make sure you make up for it when you have the ball. Ambrose made a meaningful (positive) impact probably once every 10 games, and that's probably a bit generous. Never did enough to justify any faith from the fans I'm afraid.

Get's filed in the same draw as Danny Green - looks like he might be good... is actually shit.
