The Addicks have been linked with Coventry City’s out-of-favour Michael Mifsud but Pardew dismissed speculation linking the club with Brighton’s Glenn Murray.

expect Glenn Murray to sign this afternoon then !! And where exactly have we been linked with Mifsud ? I spend hours trawling the net when I should be working and I've not seen mention of him.
  • Looks like Coventry might be willing (keen?) to release (offload?) Mifsud:

  • Dunno if we'd be after Mifsud, Pards has been talking about toughening us up and he's only about 4ft tall - not gonna scare the likes of Chris Morgan is he? Reckon he's a reasonable player, mind.
  • as expected it sounds like that if Darren plays well, Ipswich will sign him up permanently

  • Well, there you go. From the man himself:

'I'm delighted to be back here. I had the best part of my career at Ipswich.'
  • He left when he was 17 I tnink, so that best part was only a minor blip
  • Will not be missed

I'm always sceptical about signing an 'out of favour' player from a team who are effectively in the same boat as us, i.e. a non-achieving fellow championship club, especially one who has previously been so prolific and seen as the next big thing.

Too often we've seen players like this end up having attitude issues and poor temperament which contribute to them falling from grace in the first place and don't get better.

At least a former top level player (usually) carries some guarantee of quality and with a lower league player they have something to prove. Someone like Mifsud is just moving sideways in coming to us and fair enough he might just need a change to fire him up but it's hardly a move likely to inspire.

Saying that we know he can score goals so at the moment, why not!!!

I find it very disconcerting to think about the amount of money Pardew has spent on bringing in strikers and not one of them is scoring so we might have to get one in on loan. Personally I think most, if not all of them are capable of doing so, but the problems lie elsewhere. How Gray and Todorov (plus Mcleod and Varney, though at the next step down) can score the amount of goals they did and then not look like scoring with any regularity under Pardew is scary to say the least.

Chunes, no matter how much RM says he's backing Pardew I'm sure that fact is as uppermost in the board's minds as it is ours

  • [cite]Posted By: Salad[/cite]I agree with much of that but think it is very unfair to bracket him with Thomas and Rommedahl, Ambrose did drift in and out of games but he did often make an impact - he scores goals and he creates goals - the two aforementioned wastes of space very rarely did either.

I only chose them because of my belief that they all had a motivation problem. I agree that Ambrose achieved more but still didn't fulfil his promise.
  • not bothered. hes boring. average at best.
