Spurs fans were never going to accept Bent. They like to pretend that Huntelaar is more their level.

    Good luck to Benty.
  • [cite]Posted By: SE10Addick[/cite]So glad he's finally left that bunch of ungrateful, arrogant mugs.

Still got a soft spot for Sunderland after the play off final so really pleased he's gone there.

    Spot on dude spot on.
  • I saw Darren make his Charlton debut at the Stadium of Light. If my memory serves me well, he scored a couple of goals as well. Good luck Benty, I hope you continue to be lucky in Sunderland.
  • agree pete
  • Could be the best signing of the summer but then I'm biased.
  • >>have we put a sell on clause on him? <<

The answer is yes we did, but the bad news is that we waived it for early payment. Lets hope that the money spuds get entices them to buy Turner from Hull, cause someone with brains got a sell on clause even when he has been further sold on
  • Aston Villa and Hull joined the race to sign him. He should go to Villa.
  • At Sunderland alongside Jones or Campbell, Bent would surely score lots of goals and with the World Cup at the end of the season, give himself a good chance of being on the plane. saying that being top english scorer in 05/06 didn't get him to Germany.
At Villa, he would be competing with Agbonlahor, Heskey and maybe Carew so imagine his chances would be better at Sunderland, can't see him going to Hull somehow.
whatever happens I hope he does well and scores lots of goals, don't understand why Spurs fans never warmed to him, he may not be Keane or Berbatov but even when they were struggling and bottom, Bent still scored a few. IMO better all round than Defoe and certainly his goals to starts/minutes record is amongst the best in terms of English strikers.

Was it stated anywhere that we did actually waive the clause for early payment? I don't recall reading anything about it, but I'm just clinging onto hope that the 'contingencies' originally reported on the OS in the transfer deal still stand.........
  • It was £15.5m +£1m of add-ons (of which we had to pay Ipswich a few mill too)
    We cashed-in early.

Besides, any sell-on would surely be for if he was sold for MORE than £15.5m
