Spot on D. It is with heavy heart that most of us call for the head of a Charlton manager. But the patience of the fans has not been rewarded with performances and pardew has to accept the blame for that. Time to go.
Agree with that 100%. It's fair and honest, and there is no other motive there for calling for the manager to leave other than passion and care for the club.
Charlton are in a crisis, it's that simple. We go down this season, and the club is potentially in real financial trouble. The performances on the pitch have been consistently poor, hence our position, and some of the selection decisions and tactics have been, at best, completely baffling.
We keep talking about the turn round that will lift us back up the table, where we all believe we should be with this squad.
Having watched us at Ipswich, and on Saturday, where is it going to come from?
The answer, sadly, is it seems not with this current manager.
I was a Pardew man but he lost me big time with his f******* "time for me to play my best team comment" - for me that just about sums him up absolutely clueless rudderless fool.
This is his team, his players, his tactics and his **** ups, Do the club a favour and resign.
I can't dissagree with any of the article and the stat's are frankly shocking. I know that some say that we'll end up like whinging Spurs or Newcastle fans if we're not careful but by anyone's standards those stats are appaling and there's not a set of fans in the country who wouldn't have been calling for his resignation quite some time ago. We, however, continued to back him and the team until very recently.
When he was appointed I wasn't sure - you don't get the sack from West Ham for nothing after all - but I was more than willing to give him ample opportunity. My doubts were raised when, having got us out of the relegation zone, he seemed to think that it was 'job done' and we all saw the result. Last season, in what was a poor, poor division IMO we failed to take advantage of our situation and this year has been a very, unfunny joke.
I haven't felt as demoralised by following CAFC since the Andy Nelson/Mike Bailey era and we are in serious danger of imploding as a club unless changes are made.
those are my own feelings and you summed them up superbly
somtimes i believe that our fairness and kindness as fans has been taken as a sign of weakness however there was always going to be a time when that was going to change and we are now at that time
That is a superbly written and brilliantly argued exposition of the situation.
The balance of passion and forensic analysis is enviable. I have made my living as a a professional writer/author/journalist for 30 years and I read the whole thing and simply thought ''I wish I could have said that''.
I must admit I did not realise that he had brought 32 players into the club and spent nearly £13m in transfer fees. Unforgivable profligacy - and the only result is that we have gone backwards !!! I mean, that's almost three entire teams he has brought in - and then after Saturday he has the nerve to turn round and say that he's decided it's time to play his best eleven, or whatever crap it was he came out with.
Unbelievable! If he's squandered 13 mil to reduce us to the drop zone of the championship, then surely the board must see that one million to get rid of him sounds like the bargain of the century.
Your article has made me angry. He's not just inept. He's taking the piss out of every single one of us.
''Mmaybe I need to enter the loan market to get a bit more power in the side...It's tough at the moment financially, and has been since last year, but I might have to manoeuvre the squad to bring in one or two.''
So that would make 34 players he's brought in - and he's still not found 11 who can do the job !!!!
Nothing there anyone can argue with. Superbly written, the facts speak for themselves. Its heartbreaking watching what's happening to my club at the moment and the time for change is upon us. As NLA says maybe our kindness and fairness has been seen as weakness and Mr Pardew's comments at certain times has certainly made me believe he see's us this way and can take the right royal piss. Not on my watch.
I found reading it painful and depressing as I hate admitting to myself that things are so bad but the stats and the performances mean I already know it in my heart.
Chatting to Rothko last night he described Pardew as "David Brent". Harsh perhaps but just more and more fitting every game and every press conference.
Absolutely spot on. Thank-you for taking the time to research the stats that back up so accurately the conclusion so many of us have reluctantly arrived at. Angry, ill-considered rants of "sack the manager" can cause long-term damage and reflect very badly on supporters, but in this case, there really appears to be just one way to arrest the now alarming slump before interminable damage is done. AP has now had plenty of opportunities, and tried several different approaches, none of which have worked. What more can he try without doing further damage?
AFKA, Thank you for verbalising this situation so succinctly. I usually only read this board and don’t add any comments. Like many I think, I’ve felt torn between wanting to give AP more time and sacking him. Last Saturday I was livid, and then thought ‘ok, give him another 3 games’ I hate knee jerk reactions, but as your article clearly demonstrates, this has been a long downward slope that shows little sign of improving. As they say about love, hope is always the last thing to die. I’ve always maintained that AP could turn it around, but your article was like looking at a photo of your lover with someone else. Facts are hard to deny.
I have been supporting Charlton since 1954 and I can't remember a team or manager who had less support from the fans. Please add my name to the petition for Pardew to go.
This won't stop me from going to Argyle on Saturday. On talking to other fans in the covered end after the Barsley match there does not seem to be many of us going. Lets us hope we get something from the game.
AFKA - Very good analysis of the clubs performance over the past two seasons. From the comments some still place responsibility with the board. That may be accurate re the appointments of Dowie/ Reed but I am not sure how funding the new manager with 13mn was anything but support of the highest order.

lol i noticed that but Dan seems angry at the moment and didn't want to upset the little dynamo

Ye gods...
You did very well to sum things up dispassionately; I don't think I would have been able to do the same!
Spot on.

stand up Henry - your time is at hand,
I think it sums up the way most of us feel and also presents the facts in an articulate yet no nonsense manner.
Watford and Boothroyd have parted company 'by mutual consent'. Let's hope that Charlton and Pardew can do the same very soon.
Rothko, the pic was put in for a bit of humour, but i think you have a point. It detracts away from what i'm trying to say, so i have removed it.
Don't worry, the directors will see it without any help from me.
