what ever happend to half time enterainment, penality shoot outs etc.. see for the veterans game at wellling there doing the crossbar challenge.. would keep everyone in there seats and would mean a better atmosphere after the re start??

So how do we get that Fortress Valley atmosphere back again....come on, there are enough of us on this board to try and come up with a solution.
I think its impossible to think of anything that can done by way of forcing upon people. It has to come from within yourself, you have to have the mentality to roll your sleeves up, accept we are once again in the sh1t, and get on with it rather than moaning, griping and booing against the current numerous negatives.
that's okay for the players but what are we, the fans, going to do ?
am gutted about this but we all need to move on. we are still Charlton, we CAN still get into the playoffs and out of this league the old fashioned way. i for one am looking forward to saturday,, getting to the pub early doors. would be great if we could get a good crowd inside the the ground and get the atmosphere charged from 2.45pm onwards. really let the players know we are behind the club. or am i asking too much? Up the Addicks
This is more like it. Whatever does not kill you makes you stronger.
"No one bought us we don't care" (OK I do,I care a lot and it hurts right now but that's not the point)
Bit of a siege mentality perhaps. No one else is going to help us, the refs aren't going to help us, the other teams and the league aren't going to help us so let's fuck 'em all and get behind the CLUB. Not the team, not the manager, the CLUB, OUR CLUB.
AFKA's points about the songs are spot on. 30 seconds before kick -off, as the players start to get into position start playing VFR on the Tannoy. With luck people will join in and when it is faded at kick off will continue to be sung.
[cite]Posted By: AFKABartram[/cite]Agreed Oggy, the 'impact' music that Pards loves even though he is tucked up in a dressing room, doesn't have any impact anymore.
BDL, take charge on Saturday. Sack the motivational opera rubbish, get Into the Valley and all the old songs back on there, then a few mins before the teams come out, lose the music completely and let us try and rally the crowd a bit.
Mate I have 2 brothers who support West ham and I went with them to one of their play-off semis against Ipswich (night game about 3-4 years ago I think) and the music Pards got them to play was that hunting horn thing before kick off. Sounds stupid and pathetic I know but it was awesome on the night and as much as it hurt me to say it to my bros it actually got the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up and I effing well hate em.

This is my biggest problem with Pardew - he's done this kind of thing with other clubs, seemed to kick WHU and Reading into life etc, and he came with the reutation but not only is he doing eff all with us, he shows no sign of even wanting to.
On the original topic. The answer lies with the upper covered end. That's our hardcore, that's where our noise comes from. Us in the back of the lower are a bit shielded from the sound (so much so that I didn't realise how much noise come from there until i sat elsewhere in the stadium) but when we hear it we tend to follow, and when we do it's electrifying.
More drums, more noise, please. Don't expect too much from the 'flasks' or the 'plastics', we've been there seen it done it. The better the atmosphere generated from the north, the better it will be everywhere.
New songs would be nice but if they don't happen then so be it. Let's just up what we do, more outward displays of affection and passion toward OUR club regardless of what songs or chants they are. So we hate all this being told to get behind the team just before kick-off but let's be honest, he has a point.
Yes to the flag, yes to VFR before kick-off, yes to sticking together as a collective instead of petty bickering amongst ourselves.
I will be in K block singing my heart out. When peolple start booing get up, raise your arms above your head and shout the chants as loud as you can. If you still have a voice after the match you did not try hard enough!
what would be good is if saturday was treated as a local derby game or a big cup game. where every attack is roared on and people cant wait to start up the next chant, and the next one etc. not grumbling at all the misplaced passes - because we are too busy making a noise and making the most out of it.

We're a club that thrives in times of adversity. We've been in far worse situations before and have risen from the ashes. What we have needed for a long time is something to galvanise us as a club, this could be the cause that we have been lacking. We got back to the Valley, we had target 10.000, 20,000 and we ended up being an established Premiership club. Everyone thought it was job done, our child had grown up and could stand on it's own two feet. Our child became a little conceited and didn't think it was quite so dependent on it's parents anymore. Well we've all learnt a hard lesson. Airman Brown, Dicko, it's time to up arms again and lead us back into battle. Bring back VOTV. Hand out leaflets before the game spelling out the importance of getting behind the team. List some suggestions, such as singing the players name if he makes a mistake instead of booing. A song for RM would't go amiss either, I reckon the poor guy needs it atm. And if booing starts, shout them down, with "shut up" They'll soon get the message. Thanks for the text Tel.
How about moving some fans into the upper part of the away end to have 4 sided support (or booing). Get the kids into the ground as young kids = new supporters. Get the opera singer back. Remember when we used to have different groups/bands/acts before each game....that got us going before kick off. Get back to half time kids competitions like the races around the pitch. Put the right people on the pitch doing the announcing. Show our best games, our history at half time on the screen.
Lets face it, there is so much that they can do IF they think about it too get the ground buzzing again.
We have a lot of history at this club, so look at it and use it to our advantage!

Let's get our Charlton back !
Who do we contact to get it done?
He posts on the list but he may have to check with the club.
