DEAD MAN WALKING?

I has been apparent for all of 2008 that Pardew has big problems. 9 wins in the last 34 games is a sad statistic. In fact it is relegation form.

Pardew is a “dead man walking”. He has received the dreaded vote of confidence from the board. He has also lost the majority of the fans, and unless things improve dramatically during the month of October I believe the axe will fall before bonfire night.

Didn't really get a vote of confidence did he? The Chairman did say "There is nothing true in the rumours that his job is under threat. Alan is still under contract with the club. Fans are allowed to express their opinions - that's the point of football, so I can understand their views. But there has been no discussion or thoughts about changing managers. Alan Pardew is our manager and he will be for a long time to come yet."

He has lost the majority of fans has he? When did you do that poll?

You believe the axe will fall before Bonfire night. And you base this on what exactly

Probably based it on the fact that pardew is a bit rubbish?
  • 9 in 34 is pi** poor

As said on here yesterday we cant afford to pay him off, therefore its unlikely we will sack him. I feel he will walk in Novemeber and state "lack of funds ,selling players etc" as hisreasons for failing. ------------------it couldnt be that he is crap and his CV will look a tad better if he walks rather than gets shot.

"are u so blind that you can not seeeeeeeeeeeeee ? " Pardew thinks he is doing ok.

PS Billericy Dickie = Kelvin Macenzie !!
  • sure we can, just pay the new 'less experienced' incumbent what Pards would have had as win bonusses there must be huge savings according to those stats...

Well going on last night, the minority who previously wanted him out is slowly becoming a majority. And when you're in a sticky patch of form, losing to your local rivals isn't going to help.
And i'd say he's also basing it on 9 wins in 34 games being absolutely pathetic.
Add that to the fact he doesn't seem to be able to motivate the players, failed to get one of the best squads in the division even close to a play off place last season, plays the wrong tactics, makes strange substitutions, comes out with utter sh*t after each and every game, is that enough to be going on with?
  • totally agree,i dont think it is a minority anymore.
  • Really started to go wrong under Pardew when Reid got injured at West Brom last year. Since then we've had about 4 or 5 good performances (Blackpool (Home) Palace (Home) Reading (Home) Coventry (Home) Stoke (Home), the rest has been relegation form.
  • i dont think its a minority either.
  • I thought we looked ok at home this year, but the away form/style of play has undermined the confidence and damaged home performances possibly.
  • 9 wins out of 34 is shocking but I think most people accept we can't afford to sack him so it ain't gonna happen unless it gets dramatically worse

Not very good away are we?!!
  • I think we are all suffering from a post-painful defeat blues, and most reasoning will have settled down by Saturday.

But you will find it hard to argue with a lot that Chris of Sidcup stated.

[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite] .."Alan Pardew is our manager and he will be for a long time to come yet."

To be fair Henry, he said similar about Les Reed before he was very shortly replaced!
  • Still don't see how all that equals out by bonfire night. Why November 5th? Why so sure?

No disagreeing with any of the arguments it is the opinions stated as facts and the strange conclusions drawn from them that surprise me.

Still think that a lot of people were in love with Pardew when he came and now he's not done what they hoped are rejecting him like a partner they have fallen out of love with and want to divorce.
  • Henners I know what you're saying, but just cos u didnt rate him that much in the first place doesn't mean others who did and now don't have any other motive, other than cos he is pants and didn't live up to his billing, don't u agree?

I think for some it comes over as more than that, more a feeling of being let down by a friend or lover in whom you have invested some personal emotion rather than just him being a "crap" manager.

Maybe I am wrong but there seemed a lot more passion around Pardew when he joined than with Curbs, Dowie or Reed.

Anyway, the darkest hour is just before the dawn.

Some can be attributed to that......some can be attributed to Kelly Youga's hopelessness
  • ha ha ok fella whatever u say
  • If results don't improve then the board may decide to act - in the meantime if you don't want results to improve then, sure, get on the manager's back, 'cos that'll be the effect.

If however you do want our results to improve then support Charlton, support the team, ergo support the manager.
  • As a few of you regulars are wondering who I am. This is my first post on this site. I have been a regular at the Valley since 1967. I have also been a season ticket holder since the days at Selhurst.

    The questions

Razil – I am a grumpy sod, but no I am not a grumpy sod who has changed my username.

Weegie Addick – No I am not Richard Murray

Ledge – No I am not JonJo’s dad

pete_tong1 – Was you the Charlton supporter called Pete who I spoke in Billericay high street about three weeks ago? I live on Queens Park estate in Billericay.
