So despite Warnock saying that Ben Watson would never play for Palace again and him being in the last year of his contract he didn't move yesterday.
I wonder if they will kiss and make up or leave him to rot in the reserves.
Palace also sold Soares (their only player to score from open play) and Freedman has gone to Southend which is a great deal for them (the Shrimpers that is)
Per Forest, Watson was demanding $15k per week, nearly quadrupling his wages at Selhurst and almost twice what Forest was willing to pay him after agreeing to a fee believed to be around two million quid. http://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/sport/Forest-refuse-break-bank-midfielder/article-300575-detail/article.html
[cite]Posted By: AFKABartram[/cite]Last year of a contract the players hold all the cards. I'm sure we have seen a similar thing in the summer with Fortune.
They know they can negotiate a much better personal deal in 5 months time, and are prepared to wait.
Like Hudson you mean : - )
Thing is, for Watson to get a better deal elsewhere he needs to be playing well and impressing possible suitors.

With Tom Soares going I see a recall for him ahead of a move in January, alternatively being on a free means that a bit more money wil be freed up to give him the wages he wants. On the other hand if he wants a move to a Prem club he's going to have to put in some good performances between now and then and having been dropped he has a point to prove.
SSN were talking about £5m. Seems a lot for a player whose out of contract and who was being touted for £2m in the summer but maybe Boro are desperate or someone is talking the price up.

SSN have it wrong i think, as even local Palace rags are saying its £2mill deal, which is part performance and appearance related. Glad him and Paddy won't be around Tuesday.

Not as bad as City signing De Jong for £18m when they could have signed him for £1.8m in 6 months time

And what a carrot that is!
The longer it goes on the more I feel this won't happen. Warnock is starting up a bidding war now and we don't tend to come out of these favourably

Maybe we should offer to loan him for the season.

How many on here would jack in a job where they'd worked more or less happily for 10 years - just to halve their income?

I'd rather they sold Ifill before the 27th, he is their Andy Reid.
Personally I'd have signed Watson and then sold him onto Boro, except I'd have sent them Nick Bailey instead. Were that pair separated at birth?
Doubt it Ledge as he has been injured for the last month
Palace scum!
Now now dont want you getting excited and not allowed in again!!
has he oh well
Surprised he's not banned already, the rowdy ruffian. : - )
;o)
