I wonder whether Hudosn will have a role to play in this - if there's a grain of turth in the rumour we're after him??
As his captain last season you would think he'd have some sway with young Watson. I guess it'll come down to £ but you never know, a "You'll be impressed by the set up here, it's geared up for the Premiership" from H might go so way in his decision process.

He'll also be dying to get away from Paddy Mac at the back surely
This seems very unlikely to me. Maybe he was lined up last season when it looked like we were in with a decent chance of promotion. I can't see him moving to us I'm afraid. I hope I'm wrong because he seems a half-decent player and would improve our squad.
hes not got a lot to offer - isnt particularly creative or a good tackler and his corners are sporadic at best. this would be a terrible mistake. palace have just signed nick karle to replace watson - this would be taking one of their rejects just like they took paddy.
I'm more of Balhams thinking here, he ain't a bad player and I think he lifted his game and raised his price tag in the play offs maybe above what he's really worth, and he's ginger and palace. Don't think he's what we need especially at an inflated price
really can't believe the last couple of comments. The very best we can hope to sign is the best players from the Championship and if that is a midfielder then Watson or Howard (Barnsley) or Henry (Wolves) are your men. I'd be more than happy with any of those three. Anything less and they arn't good enough.

I'm with you here Large - What we have in midfield at the moment will not cut the mustard. We have to rwalise we are in the champs and thus the likes of watson or hoolihan (even though he's already gone to Norwich) are IMO the best we can expect to sign
I admit I heard a few negatives from Palace fans earlier int he season but I think he would be an asset to us.
You seldom get a player that every fan loves (look at Kish, Semedo, Holland) but that doesn't make them bad players. If everone rated him as a superstar he would not be coming to us!
Karl Henry and Brian Howard would be better signings only my opinion of course. Watson wouldn't be a bad signing but my concern is how much will he cost and do we have the dosh? If we had the money for Watson then I'm sure we would have the cash for Howard.

Watson would be cheaper than Howard as he only has a year left on his contract and so Palace realise they need to cash in now to maximise their return. I'd prefer Howard as he scores goals but I'd settle for Watson.
i take your point gents - i just dont feel comfortable taking a palace player that they dont want! tho i know some palaces do like him from looking on their boards - it would be really gutting if we paid cash plus player for him if he ended up truly being rubbish.

CRYSTAL Palace have rejected two offers for Ben Watson - with boss Neil Warnock saying neither were big enough to prise the midfielder away from Selhurst Park.
The Eagles are ready to listen to bids for their former England U21 international, who is now in the final 12 months of his contract.
QPR are one of the teams hoping to land Watson, who Palace are believed to want at least £2million for.
Warnock said: "Two clubs have made offers but they haven't come up to our valuation - we've told them that until they do they won't be able to speak to Ben.
"He's back doing pre-season with us and is training hard."

Quality Gh, is that honestly the best you could come up with? tsk
...now thats better.
people outside the club think of him as a good prospect but i think people outside charlton would have/ or still do, rate jerome thomas.
He hasn't stuck out for me in the last few games we've played against Palace.

Henry at wolves really can;t see that happening - captaon , home town team and all that.
IMO
Would love it if he signed.

I hope it happens and we can judge for ourselves
Ban him AFKA, cant be having people on here with "tons of palace mates"
Its almost like admitting to voyeurism.

Watson is a good long term option and he delivers good corners.
Who knows, maybe we'll see a corner reach the 6 yard box this season. Maybe just maybe we'll beat the near post man.
It's only fair....we gave them Paddy Mac

I expect however, QPR and Reading to be better placed than us if we are keen.
