Players who weren't that great but you liked

What players did you like even though they weren't necessarily the greatest ever to don the red shirt. I'd like to give a vote to John Pearson, John Pender, Steve Thompson and Jimmy Giles.

Len....Jimmy Giles was interesting,. I played cricket against him at Kenn in Devon (he hit me for two sixes) whilst on cricket tour. He was a big hitter - I think he played Warwickshire 2nds. After the game, he asked who I supported. He was currently at Exeter City and laughed and said "Well, you are the first Charlton fan I have met. I am about to sign. Will I like it there?" I reassured him.

I remember Dyer scoring two goals against Man City (?) just before half-time.

Nelson, a great footballer and an honest one, if only he hadn't fallen over quite so often.
