[cite]Posted By: AFKABartram[/cite]If other potential pre-season games were poo-pooed for safety reasons, there is no way in the world this would be sanctioned.
Wont happen purely on police advice, there have been a lot of clashes recently between our "yoof" and theres in different parts of London, cant see the OB allowing a friendly on recent history.
spot on DA9 ours and theirs they all know who eachother are and i am sure as you have said there have been clashes between us when we aint played in years they were the team i always looked 4wd to playing more than palarse a proper london derby

Merryman?[/quote]
No, it wasn't Merryman. I'm almost certain his surname started with a C.
As birmingham once sang You're not scary any more! The top boys only turn up for games where they think there'll be some ago, which is sort of league one glory hunting. Only the pink primark polo chavs from the suburbs who think they are hard because they support 'wall will turn and if they try anything they will get turned over by other like minded, but better dressed individuals.
If it's for Paddy then he deserves classier opposition, Rangers! Or West Ham (last resort as they'll bring a load down).
It was Cressey, the Millwall bloke who tried to have a go at Roger Alwen at The Valley in Sept '93.(See Millwall thread earlier).
Can't remember his christian name though.Came from Kidbrooke The Ferrier Estate.
He turned up on Panorama a few months later in '94 re police corruption with another bloke called Donald.
Donald and Cressey was a big and well documented Met Police corruption case, 1994/95.
not my opinion, its the traditional rival always has been always will be,no poll or anything will change that, anyone over 35 has experince of the games and they shit on palace,i dont like palace but millwall is the one.
Traditionaly Millsmall are of course our real rivals.Though it suits them very well (due to their current league status and insignificance), to try to turn the tables by collectivly denying the fact. However, as we have so rarely played them over the last couple of decades this has slowly been surpassed for the time being by Palarse. Were we to spend a few seasons or so in the same league as Millsmall then have no fear the old rivalry would spectacularly resurface, make no mistake.Though as they're such a pants outfit and clearly inferior to us in every aspect this is highly unlikely to be the case, leastways in the forseable future.
i go to many other games mate ,try and listen to this, many charlton used to go millwall games, like me hoping they got stuffed,i went to the auto glass game at wembley and never laughed so much, try it sometime they never fail to cheer you up.and i have gone seven seasons not missing home or away with charlton,im allowed a treat sometimes.
I used to go to Millwall too with my mates (20 years ago), even saw them away a few times. I used to pray they would lose. They often did and it would make my weekend. Must be a Catford thing :-)
Or maybe it was in the blood, my Grandad used to alternate Saturdays between The Valley and The Den.

same here nolly. got tickets from stuart balmer (who played for wigan that day) in with the 8000 (and thats pushing it) wigan fans. the journey back to eltham was fantastic. muggies all quiet and sad, cursing their luck whilst i was as happy as (come to think of it, literally) a pig in sh*t.
paul rogers in the last minute. along with stern john, a true charlton legend.
To me Millwall was always be our rivals. I hate them with a passion and it always makes my weekend when they lose. I have mates who are Millwall and know that people used to alternate games between the valley and the s--thole. However, I would never go to watch millwall (unless we were playing them) as I do not want to put money into that football club. I even hate paying them my money when we play them. Will never forget that december night in 95.
I know more people who support Millwall than Palace and pray they lose every week.I was gutted they stayed up this year,if it wasn't for both Bournemouth and Luton getiing deducted them points,i'm certain they would have gone down,as being in the bottom four would have been too much pressure.
Millwall will always be our rivals to me. The fact that others choose Palace is their choice, but one that I feel is based on differnt events over the last 25 years.
What has that got to do with anything? I agree with JohnnyH2. Others choose Palace and that is their choice but alot of Charlton fans consider Millwall to be our main rivals. The fact we have not played them for years changes nothing for me.
People of my generation (born mid-late 80's) have very very few memories of competitive millwall league fixtures, my first Charlton game was early '93 and i've only seen about two or three games against them, the oldest of which I was 7...
Can see why those with footballing memories and participation in the 1970s and 80s and further back cling on to Millwall but for those 16-mid 20's it's just Palace... we've paid our dues at a time of a vastly inferior Millwall side and a farely fierce and growing rivalry with Palace, stoked by proximity, club politics and off pitch events.
Obviously there are those against the trend in who they see as Number 1 Rivals but that's the way it seems to me.

Must be a Catford thing as my Dad and his mates used to do the same!
I think I agree with ISaw in that the rivalry element is perhaps a generational thing, though I don't think it matters which is No 1. IMO, if we have any rivalries, it is only them two and no-one else.

You cant blame Palace fans for everything Danny
