I reckon you are right. We failed to sell out Tottenham more than once and Chelsea too. We take similar numbers to God awful League One crap holes these days. I look forward to the clamour for away tickets and the ensuing moaning when we return to the Premier League.ElfsborgAddick said:JustFloydRoad said:
Commitment from the SaintsI think the appeal may be stronger nowadays with the Premier League. When we were in the Premier League, us, Fulham, Wigan and Blackburn would have many games when we would not sell out allocations, and comfortably so.I am sure most clubs sell their away allocations.5 -
Fair point, the Premier League is a different one to the one we we're in. I work at a Premier League ground and the away support is always 3,000 max for the league (more allocation for the cups. Since the Spanner is labelling Portsmouth a proper club. I just thought I'd balance the chat with Southampton (and even though they are going through the motions the support is still there).ElfsborgAddick said:JustFloydRoad said:

Out of interest, and with the exception of Milton Keynes, which isn't a "proper club", and what's the definition?MillwallFan said:
First season back at this level in years, numbers should be good. Doing all the new grounds you haven’t done in years. Our first season back up we had some really good numbers on the road. Now, after playing the same teams for 6 or 7 years they’re shit again. People get bored of going to places like Blackburn.oohaahmortimer said:
2nd bottom and they bring that midweek !!
unbelievableHaving said that, that is still very good for a midweek game. Always had a lot of respect for Portsmouth. Proper club.
Most of the big PL clubs aren’t proper clubs anymore. Palace most definitely aren’t, but for different reasons. Non league clubs who have made it in to the league but who’s supporters all support a PL club but have their local club as their ‘second team’ aren’t ’proper clubs’.3 -
I only count teams that were originally created by a few working class kids who kicked a ball around and took on all the other franchise teams who were backed by factories, large employer's and institutions as 'proper clubs'.3

Fair play to those that have bothered, but feels like the post is a piss take on us

Yes - 156 and credit to them all isn’t something to shout about …0

we were on a bad run of 1 loss on the spin

I actually think that account is pretty sincereThreadKiller said:

They do floodlight light shows
Ultras dressed in black with slogans on bed sheets
Ted Lasso
South is ours/and proud on various bits and pieces
Went up in 6th place and some how stayed there forever whilst knowing they out stayed their welcome after 2 seasons
Has the largest amount of Nigels in the country

Not to mention their ridiculous claim to be the oldest club in the world. Even their own club historian said it was a spurious claim, and there's a detailed debunking of it here:charltonkeston said:

South London Memories: ‘Crystal Palace’…the oldest professional football club in the world? – South London News
"the official CPFC supporters’ magazine from October 1947 states “to prevent misunderstanding, it should be pointed out that the Crystal Palace Club in existence before 1905 was a purely amateur concern and had no connection with the present club.”
But the club is still trying to push that agenda, presumably on the basis that everything about them is fake, so why not add something else to the pile.

Most of the big PL clubs* aren’t proper clubs anymore. Palace most definitely aren’t, but for different reasons.** Non league clubs who have made it in to the league but who’s supporters all support a PL club but have their local club as their ‘second team’ aren’t ’proper clubs’.
*When you talk about the Premier League you have The Six (you know who I am talking about)
** Palace (because it's Palace 🤪).
Think it is a bit cruel to label local (non-league) clubs as their ‘second team’ as not ’proper clubs’. That is how they make their money sometimes.
My local non-league team has a cult following in addition to fans who go down there as their second team. I would still say that is a proper club.

AFC Fylde had 9 away fans at Southend last night 👏2

Yep. Add to this they changed their whole identity to be more commercially viable, using barcas and brazils colours, changing their name from the traditional ‘glaziers’ to the eagles. The desperation to be seen as a proper south London club when we all know they’re anything but. Everything about that club is contrived. Even down to their fake ‘derby’ with Brighton. The M23 Derby 🤦🏻♂️charltonkeston said:

I actually said local non league clubs who have made it in to the league. You’re allowed your local non league club as a second club but as soon as they make it in to the league you have to bin them off 😉JustFloydRoad said:

That's an amazing turnout. I had notice the crowd was 4000, which is good for Barnet these days, but hadn't realised how many of those were away fans. One of the few times the new stand at that end has been full.0

Millwall have been given 3.8k for their trip to Palace in the FA Cup.

Fantastic from York. That’s the top of the table clash. Barnet only get decent crowds for special occasions, sadly. They are trying to move back to Barnet, but I doubt they will get planning permission.oohaahmortimer said:

That is an outstanding turnout, I realise it was on a Friday night so need for work the next day, but that has to be a six hours jaunt, it was on television as well.I'll nominate this as the best away following in the Championship all season, taking all things into consideration.
