or put another way, if we achieved 47 points for the season last time then we're already looking to go for 48 points this time around...think positive...
& now in the quarter finals of the carling cup for the first time ever...& bent adds another goal to his tally...and jfh bags a couple more to emphasise the reason why we signed him and show his goal tally should easily move into double figures this season...
wigan, with 4 consecutive wins (that's 12 points to those that dont know) are now 8th on 17 points...a little run and instead of being bottom with 5 points (that's 3 points less than we've got) and they've suddenly turned their season around...something that's not that impossible for us to do, particularly when you think we've only lost one of our last six games and that only 3-2...and we're still ahead on points against the corresponding fixtures last season...and we're one game (against lower league opposition at home) from a two-legged chance of making the final of the carling cup...
Yeah....... lets not 'throw the baby out with thebath water' Dowie has to keep positive and keep on keeping on, we need a break, a big win a scalp, just three points and then we can move forward.......
and it sounds like both q & a groups have had their faith restored after the knock back early on in the week, i know i came away from city addicks last night now thinking the board have called it right...and for two such sessions on one night when fans of other clubs can only dream of having somebody organising one speaks volumes...and we're taking a full away end with us tomorrow...
oh, and for the record, after ringing me every 5 mins during the ca meeting last night, my daughter finished her homework in time...fcking homework, any teacher that has to supplement their lessons by making kids do it should be sacked...
yes on reading cynic's version of last nights forum, everything sounds very positive!
curb_it - where's cynic's version of last night's forum ?...i'm a bit slow this morning, i only had the 4 pints last night but i think i'm still feeling the effects a bit of the anglo-irish bash the night before (was anybody else from on here there ? i know afka said he'd thought about going) where i might just have had one or two more than that and i'm getting too old for it all...gawd knows how i'm going to cope with consecutive nights out next month when it all really gets going...
so now the win against blackburn (last season a 1-2 reversal) means that in corresponding fixtures compared to those against the same sides last season we have picked up 10 points as opposed to only 6 last time around...of course, only picking up the one point so far against the teams that have replaced the relegated ones is spoiling the overall picture...nevertheless, we're obviously improving year on year against the established pl sides...next up spurs away who we lost 3-1 to last season so if we come away with any points from whl we'll be even further ahead...keep the faith...
What does that matter when we get stuffed every other week away from home. Last year we won 5 away games, this year we'll be lucky to get 5 away points.
ltgtr - I like the spin -only problem I can see is that with the changing order of the fixtures on your comparison and the "relegation" form shown last season on the matching games, this must mean you're looking for a 10 game unbeaten run with 6 or 7 wins?!
I actually fancy our chances on Saturday and against Liverpool - heard a West Ham fan on the train last night telling his mate that they had a "two point cushion" over us - dawned on me they had lost to Wigan so we could possibly climb another place in the next fortnight given that West Ham have Bolton away and Man U at home.
After spending two months bottom of the league I think this is what gives us hope.

the pl is so tight at the moment you have to think that any team from 3rd place down only needs to have a bad christmas and new year and they could be in the frame for a relegation dog-fight...and any team (ie us) currently at the bottom only needs a three game winning spin and they will start thinking a place in europe is achievable...

Come on Boys.....
what I would love is an announcement today as to who is coming in.... if they put another add in the paper I willtop myself....
well it is a results business and at least curb_it can organise a 'charlton' question and answer night that's likely to take place...
Where can I get odds on Curb_It for next manager?!?!
