When we signed Moo2 in the summer someone on Netaddicks was slagging him off even before he played and said he would be "another Kelly Youga". How true!
Let's keep it in perspective about Youga, shall we? He's only played in three games (two of them in the FAC) so I doubt that he will be attracting interest from anyone at this stage of the game.
Very useful bonus to have him come back and do well but let's not get carried away with him being top class just yet.

You are right of course OA, it is early days and I suspect that he is capable of over-confidence. Before the home WBA game, I had heard from my best mate who travels the country watching as many teams/games as he can, that whilst he was watching Scunthorpe earlier this season, he noticed this left back who was playing brilliantly and was by far the best player from both sides. Although he's a Charlton fan, he didn't twig on that it was the Youga who was on loan from us until after the game. So clearly he's been putting in some good performances with them.
What puzzles me is that the club have said they monitor the progress of on loan players.
Didn't anybody notice that Youga was putting in brilliant performances?
Normally you only have to read the paper or log on to the loan club website to see if your player
gets a mention........ that is if you can't be arsed to actually watch him from time to time.
No doubt the Charlton were preparing to release him at the end of his contract.
And with Chrissie Powell regularly having to play far too many games in too short a period,
weren't we crying out for a competant left back?

Oggy, I think to be fair, Pards will have had him watched because he rushed him straight into the FA Cup team, when presumably Basey was close to full fitness.
It was galling though that he was playing for Scunthorpe when there an unprecedented injury list amongst the remaining left backs at the club. I understand though that the deal that was done with Scunthorpe did not allow a recall.
Fair enough, Bing ..... but he was recalled a week early from his loan - so the club must have had a recall clause.
Pards must have seen then that poor old Sir Chris had run out of steam.
Pards also said strangely something about being surprised at the impact Youga made in training on his first day
back at Sparrows Lane . And had no hesitation at putting him straight in the team.
Youga, of course, did have a 4 match suspension over Xmas, so couldn't have played for us for those matches anyway.

Oggy, I am not normally this pedantic but didn't Charlton just exercise their normal right to stop him being cup-tied and because this happened when there was no further league match before the end of his loan period, he just came back a week early?
Could be, Bing. His loan didn't allow him to play in the FA Cup anyway, so with the loan finishing 6th Jan then maybe there was no point him staying at Scunny - unless Charlton would renew his loan/sell him back straightaway.
Pards said on the OS somewhere that his return would give the club a chance to take a good look at him.
Other talk said a deal for £150k to take him permanently to Scunny was on the table.
Who knows? But, whatever, we've certainly found ourselves a decent left back at a time, with Basey not match fit, we desperately needed one.

so far for us place his value to us now as ........ PRICELESS!
You can't help get the impression that Charlton were clueless how much Jelly man had improved
;o)
