Some people have got longer memories than others Charlie Block, and 10 or even 20 years is no time at all. So you "get real".
Calling Murray a "muppet" is completely ridiculous. He's made mistakes - as I'm sure we all have, even you - and has been the first to admit it. So yes, good one, let's "get rid" of him - and replace him with who? Have you got a spare 10 or 20 million stuffed down the sofa? Even if you did, would you put it into the club with possibly no return whatsoever and face criticism from jumped up little herberts like you who clearly know fuck all about running a football club? The bottom line is that he is a genuine fan, just like the rest of us, and I for one wouldn't swap him for anyone - not even an (allegedly) corrupt Thai politician or Russian billionaire who have no interest in MY club, OUR club.
[quote]All very well and good but IT IS A LONG TIME IN THE PAST. The fact is the last of those 9 Premier League seasons the club got relegated because of what IMO has been Muppet Murray's incompetence. It is Muppet Murray's fault the club is in the mess it is in now. In any other business an annual loss of 10m would a clear example of gross incompetence and I don't think many would stand for it. Quite frankly as we have lost two home games against the bottom club in league we deserve to be playing in League one next season. I hope I become proved wrong as I can only see things getting worse while we have Murray around.[/quote]
Where do you even begin in dealing with that?
Firstly, blaming Murray for relegation is just ridiculous. Yes, he appointed Dowie (a bad appointment), but at the time he was probably the best around given that Davies turned us down (and he is clearly a prickly pear given the nature of his departures from Preston and Derby). Who else was up for the job at the time? Peter Taylor and Sammy Lee. Need I say more?
Secondly, most clubs in the Premiership run a multi-million pound loss because of the huge wages and transfer fees involved these days. The investors buying these clubs (Glaziers, Gillett, Shinawatra et al) are not hoping for annual profits but to increase the value of the asset and sell it for a huge profit.
Chelsea lose nearly 100 million a year on massive revenues and Liverpool are also heavily in the red so Charlton losing 10 million is very small beer indeed.
As for the current form, well, the fans wanted Pards to replace Les Reed and Murray granted them their wish and can hardly be blamed for the side's current poor form.
Richard Murray may not be faultless but he has put millions into the club and never taken a penny out of it and you won't find many other chairman who have done that. If Murray went then who would you suggest comes in to replace him?
Just for reference here, Charlie Block, is Roy Arnold from the Mailing list, now if you know the mailing list, you'll know that Roy is a strange one, has views which make Golfie look like Mr Sunshine, and only appears when we lose.
Roy has anger management problems when we lose I think.
[cite]Posted By: Rothko[/cite]Roy, you've finally stopped slagging Curbs off, and moved on to Murray, well done.
Spot on Rothko. Come on Roy, now that Curbs is out of your firing range, why stop at Murray? What about all the others who helped re-build our club? Roger Alwen, Martin Simmons, etc.
What you have said about Murray is of course compete b*llocks and frankly you should be ashamed of such comments. You got your wish when Curbs left. Look where we are now? Please don't start on Murray who, along with fellow directors have bankrolled this club and effectively gifted the club over £20M of their own money.
[cite]Posted By: Off_it[/cite]This Roy character sounds like a right scream - didn't realise he was so well known. I bet he's the life and soul of any party.
I think he gets a kick over been slagged off. Very strange man

What Murray has helped to achieve at our club is amazing considering the position we were in. Some people really have short memories.

On that disturbing thought I'm going to bugger off to bed - if I can get to sleep now that is!
