Wonderful news. Is there a more deserving man in football? Typically modest, humble acceptance. A genuine legend. I might be a tad emotional after some very nice Malbec but this has reduced me to tears.9

Congrats Chris!

This is excellent . I have no time for these awards in general but genuine people that have given so much to the community and to football should be recognised. Delighted for Chris and I know he will be so proud .2

Yes, I have no time for them either due to some of the people who receive them but Chrissy is a deserving one. He will always be Sir Chris to me and many other Charlton fans. It is an honour we have bestowed upon him.2

What an honour, a privilege and an absolute delight for a great man. The investiture is going to be a wonderful moment. Just imagine - if you can - what a proud moment if will be for the King actually to get to meet Chris Powell.
Good luck, Your Majesty.4 -
Couldn't happen to a nicer and more deserving bloke and you just know how chuffed he is going to be.2

Nice guys do win then.
Couldn't be happier for him and his family for the rightful recognition.3 -
Very well deserved, congratulations Chris.0

Chris is a total legend who just always gels and works when he is at this club. The epitome of what makes Charlton special.1

Massive recognition - congratulations Chris.0

I love this man dearly. Very well deserved, and I hope one day he ends up with the Sir in front of his name formally.
And a timely way to mark 10 years of utter misery since SCP was inexplicably removed - by a country mile the worst footballing period in the club’s history, and abject failure that has fallen way beyond even my wildest imagination at the time. Thanks Roland you loathsome c**t.11 -
Great news - couldn't happen to a nicer person. BBC website didn't deem a former England player and coach and one of the few black Englishmen to win something as a manager worthy of a mention on their summary of winners. Message of compaint duly dispatched. I suggest others do the same...6

Chris Powell, the ex-England and Charlton defender and current Sheffield Wednesday assistant boss, is made an MBE for services to football.
"I always thought that representing my country and the FA would be the pinnacle of my career, as both a player and a coach, but this honour is beyond my expectations," Powell said.

I am not that much of a twat, Clive.2 -
Well done Chris Powell. Thoroughly deserved. I'm not normally a fan of these honours, but there are some good names on this list (maybe there always are). Chris Powell is the stand out for me, but there's also Armando Iannucci, Chris Boardman, Imelda Staunton and Alan Bates. And perhaps it will cheer Graeme Souness up after last night.
I see that Chris Powell is listed as Birmingham this seemed a bit odd to me. Is that where he lives now? It seems a bit of a distance from Sheffield. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6669879843c77d8616f76033/Birthday_Honours_List_2024.pdf

Brilliant!
Love the man and possibly my biggest regret in a lifetime of supporting Charlton is the way Powell's time here was ended by Douchbag and the fact we never got him to come back to complete unfinished business3
