  • Henry, relax. I don't see what you are getting stressed about. Some of us have just raised the issue that we think the club could do a lot better with its merchandising. That it doesn't appear on the outside to fully utililise its two core main functions. If read through properly there are probably a couple of interesting strategy suggestions in this thread, which could only benefit the club when they read it.

If we are intent as seeing the club as a business, then its equally important the business welcomes feedback from its customers, firstly to make sure they are in tune, secondly as a measure of what they are doing well or could improve, and thirdly to maximise spend per customer. Un-backed or unspecific moans aren't helpful, but points relating to specific issues should be welcomed. The supporters may lend suggestions, but its not for them to go and do cost-analysis, return expectations etc and its silly and inpractical to suggest so.
  • WIWLB, stick to the topic by all means, but no more personal stuff please.

    Thank you.

suggestions are great and I did say pass them on to mike rea who can actually do something with them but saying income can be trebled and then going down the very worn out road of "are you are fan or a director?" when someone has run out of arguements gets on my tits. You remember that someone described me as an awkward sod during the election. Well they were right ; - )

If people just want a moan then fine but that gets us nowhere. If we want to move forward and generate new ideas then those ideas need to be tested to see if they stand up.

By the way this site is crap and I could triple the number of users for you if you bought a server twice as big as the one you have now. I'm not going to tell you how that will work or how much the server will cost but if you ask me to explain how then I'll say "are you a fan or a message board moderator and that your farts don't smell". You get the picture.
  • Henry, i think you need to invest in a stress ball from the club shop, or play with some of them cubic head bands, AFKA hardly being personal, just stating that the man thinks he is something special, when at the end of the day he is in a very fortunate pasition, and its in my own opinion he is abussing it, and that is my opinion,

All mouth and no cost benefit analysis I see.

And you know what you can do with the stress ball, dont ya.
  • Get a life Henry.......jesus,
  • Maybe you should tell me...........
  • [cite]Posted By: WhenIwasLittleBoy[/cite]Get a life Henry.......jesus,

another blinding come back but still no cost benefit analysis. How long do you think it will take you?
  • wiwlb> how do you get to that conclusion? rather harsh!

I have actually been in the shop recently and found more stuff in there than i thought they actually did and was plesantly surprised. and I wouldn't say that all they did was replica kit and training kit, there are other things too.

loadsa stuff for kids, which i buy my friends kids all the time and pens, and stationary stuff for kids. I wouldn't wear adult charlton branded clothes to be honest. and I'm sure the club found in the past when they made this stuff, that a lot of people didnt bother either. its not like the shop has only just opened and has no experience.

also, what would happen to the 2 floor shop and 5 or so staff manning the shop every non match day? cost effective? the shop is only busy on match days - fact.

open a kiosk or two inside the ground like the lower north, but get complaints that its stocked with the wrong stuff. attend a city addicks meeting a few years ago and answer suggestions of a shop (not a stall) in bexleyheath....2 years later, one appears. you telling me they dont listen?
  • I tell u what, with a director like u on board, that can have the whole families seasons tickets back, all four of them,

How pathetic! You lose an arguement and now you don't want to support the club anymore. Send them back if you like but don't try and lay the blame on me.
  • I really like the latest training gear from Joma compared to Umbro, Nike and Addidas id rather have Joma. I have spent quite a bit on it sad to say for my bank account anyway.

I rarely buy any clothes from the club shop but I was very tempted by the training polo shirts.

Who says i have lost the arguement, and i dont want to support the club anymore, i can still support the club, and its only in your own opinion i have lost the arguement, the reason is that i dont like the viens of its directors and how it reacts to its fans opinions, and if they ask me, surely i can point to the message board and forum and then they can draw there own conclusions.
  • This is getting us no-where. Please calm down peeps. This cannot be that important that you need to fall out over it.

Suzi - Totally agree about the the bits and bobs - I've bought something at every home game for someone in my family and have some great ideas about Christmas Presents - my opinion is only about the Womenswear. :o)

What sort of branded stuff would you wear out of interest?

I would wear a tracksuit top with the logo on, to the gym, but can get that already in the training kit.

maybe some casual t-shirts or vests to the gym, agree about the pink/grey thing. no harm in emailing some suggestions?
  • I want a Charlton pirate hat and eye patch. (Cost benefit thingy: £10 from Sco)

  • Gump. We need cost benefit thingy as well.

A cost benefit analysis would be more useful but you seem to be avoiding making any comment on that.

You say you don't like the views of this particular director but it seems to me what you don't like is that he disagreed with you and asked you to back up the statements you were making. You then resorted to personal insults and threats of sending back season tickets and telling the club.

Not going to carry this on as the arguement over trebling the shop turnover was finished a long time ago and any useful ideas that might have come out of this debate have been buried. (apart from the pirate gear. Which badge do you want on the hat? I like the CAF Club one but Off-it doesn't : - )

Same as you really - vest tops - T-shirts and I think it's just more along the lines of what they are selling in the shop but to be made a little more flattering rather than having to wear a male cut. And for the womens stuff to have more than just the sword (hidden at the bottom on the shirt/top) on them as unless you support Charlton you have no idea what that represents.

Think I may just drop an email to Michael....... It can't hurt can it...

    :-)
  • [cite]Posted By: Gump[/cite]I demand an orange away-kit or I'll never come again...

Orange would be too close to the red kit so would clash when playing teams in red. How about green and white hoops instead. ; - )

Sorry AFKA, I'll be a good boy from now on.
  • AND the teddy bears are the wrong colour...
  • [cite]Posted By: Gump[/cite]How about black with an orange "V" stripe?

    White gloves optional... ;-)

Took me 30 seconds to work that one out. Now leave it before you get us both banned ; - )
  • why doesn't the club bring an official suitcase/briefcase/sandwich box of merchandise to the away games to sell to prevent the fraudulent selling of 'fake' charlton goods..just a suggestion
  • [cite]Posted By: Gump[/cite]I demand an orange away-kit or I'll never come again...

Not planning on any little Gumps anytime soon then?
  • How about we do something simple, like wear traditional club colours, like Red at home, White for away games, or won't that look good with jeans? ;O)
