in the states they refer to all those Jerry Springer et al shows as "nuts and sluts, whores and bores".
All the so called reality shows are based on the same principle, even the Apprentice. Get someone with a big gob, someone who will flirt, someone who will cry, someone who's camp, someone with a short fuse, someone who's common. someone who's posh and then sitck them all in a house/jungle/A N other false situation and keeping jabbing them with sticks until they act in charecter.
I prefer police, camera, action. Now there's really cheap reality TV (costs = editing of police videos and one talking head).
Good summing up there Henry. Apart from using the term 'shirtlifter' (something 99% of us would use in a pub conversation btw) I didn't see he done a lot wrong, even offering appologies when he didn't need to.
A lot of these programmes are edited very well..........therefore if they wish to make someone look the bad guy it can be done very easily...........i think old Jim has been stitched up,and lets face it who else is inthere now who can make you laugh, and that is what its all about, who wants to watch a PC correct programme with bimbos in, and as for Angus Deaton, what a w*****r he is,

To be honest all sitcoms are the same formula, reality TV is just cheaper to make and provides hours more footage.

I agree about sitcoms but wouldn't say all. Some of the very best, and they are only a few, are better than that. Steptoe was basically two people in one room and so quite often was porridge. yes there was old/experienced v young/keen but not totally reliant on cliched charecters.
What's that line about there only being 7 stories in films and what are they?
Comments
car crash tv.
Shame!
Ouch link>>>>>
It's all about making "good" (in the most tenuous of meanings) tv.
Bad enough this sort of crap is made, let alone watched.
