think thats a bit harsh on Semedo. I'm sure this is a totally different style of league to what he's used to and he came to us as a defender who's now being asked to play midfield so he's bound to be defensive.
Pardew has stated several times that he likes his teams to have "energy" and I had to wait until the second half of our third league game to see it.
ZZ in combination with big Chris turned the game for me. All ZZ wanted to do was run around the centre of the pitch winning the ball and getting to another Charlton player bringing both Reid and Thomas into the game. Simple stuff really compared to a very flimsy central pairing of Ambrose and Semedo. I still don't think that we've found a position for Ambrose yet and Semedo is struggling just in front of defence thus far.
I didn't think that Bent was that bad yesterday. He didn't combine with big Chris admittedly, but he did okay with what service he got. Todorov is certainly comfortable with the ball at his feet.
Thatcher seems to have lost his fight. Whether it's a problem with his body or his mind I don't know. Fortune bucked his ideas second half and won the headers that he should have been doing in the first 45 minutes. We lack leadership at the back, something I imagine McCarthy was supposed to bring but has yet to do so. I just find Bougy an enigma at the moment.
At half time I complained to all within earshot that if we take that kind of shambles to Palace next week we are done for (for that game). Some shocking defending went on yesterday and they need to work as a team to sort it out. I don't know if we are trying to get more away fans in by offering their teams "a free header with each visit" but there are some footballing basics that need addressing quickly.
Big Chris scored two excellent goals yesterday and could of had at least two more. I can ask very little more of the man. Reid's goal was lovely too. 3 most welcome points, but plenty of work to do.
I thought ZZ was absolute quality and can't believe we managed to get him back. He seems to always have acres of space and time on the ball, the opposite of Ambrose who always looked rushed (saying that I thought he did ok). ZZ will be the player who makes us tick, I don't think Reid has the stamina and pace to be that player for us, but he's got a sublime touch and vision. If racon turns out to be good I think we'll see a starting midfield of Racon, Reid, ZZ and Thomas, don't know if Ambrose and reid will play together too often. For Todorov see ZZ positives above!

I agree Nug. Let us hope that Racon turns out to be good. With Moo2 back in a month or so and with the striking options we have, things could look pretty good for us. We still need to sort out the defence though. Another Centre Back with some leadership qualities is really needed.
