Thanks guys, Interesting responses. I always used to work on the basis that I didn’t need to be exceptional all the time to make money because the bar in where I was competing was generally quite low but now I’m starting to think I should have aimed higher and been a billionaire by the time I retired…I could have bought Charlton with the money and saved us all from all the heartache of recent years 😉

Not to mention all the money you’ve saved on milk over the years.
"Explains why all us old gits tend to be a lot taller than younger generations".

As usual you've got it back to front again.

To be honest I hadn’t noticed Amanda Holden got a mention, slightly disappointing it wasn’t accompanied by the obligatory pointy nipple photo, just incase people didn’t know who she was of course.
  • Ordering a “Black Americano” at a football ground is the funniest thing I’ve heard for a long time.
    Isn't that a Bovril?

That would probably taste better with milk…

Superb thread. Thanks to all who have contributed. I especially love the 'one advantage of being old is that you can stop believing facts' angle.

    Cafe watch - continued...

In the Chestnut in Chislehurst this morning. I asked for a white coffee, got a black with milk on the side so no problem. Later another lady said she wanted coffee and the lady behind the jump asked if she wanted Americano with milk.

It's clearly a thing now, and doesn't matter as long as you know what you are getting, but I am thinking of asking for a cappuccino with no milk or chocolate and seeing the reaction...  :D

(If they are sharp enough, they'll charge me full price and give me a black coffee ;)

A cup of tea is like a face - considering there are only 3 main ingredients, its incredible how different the outcome can be when assembled together - never get involved in rounds at work unless in the pub - you will end up drinking stuff you don't like when you don't want it and having to make stuff for others when you don't want to. Don't know much about coffee other than its become over complicated and over expensive.

Facts can be whatever you want them to show and rarely is it that they are presented in context to give a balanced full picture

Facts are concrete, verifiable truths that don't change based on wishes or feelings.

I used to love going in to a cafe and asking for a coffee, 30 seconds later I was sat down enjoying it.
Nowadays it's a thousand and one questions.
    It was affordable as well.

There is a factual record of the attendances at Charlton games which are, now according to you, verifiable truths 😂😂😂

You added the word 'factual'. There is a record of the attendances, nobody is saying they are truths. Actual attendances are verifiable though by counting every individual in attendance - but that isn't done.

You are confusing facts with claims.

Yeh but it’s obviously because people may want to just put their own milk in.

Ask for a 'mélange'. You never see them here, but quite common in Austria and Hungary (where the coffee is never hot enough)

    What a miserable git 😆
Speaking of which, has anyone heard from or knows what’s happening with MOG lately?
I believe he resides in a "home" out in Kent.
Possibly in the vicinity of Sittingbourne.
He posted on here recently (which is extremely rare in many years).

Last I heard he was on The Isle of Sheppy……..which is of course right next door to Sittingborne. 🤔

“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.”
