RIP Sybil.  Loved Fawlty Towers, recorded every episode in the days of cassette tapes and knew every joke and Sybil was perfect at trying to keep Basil in order.

When watching the Canal boat programme and she started suffering from dementia I was surprised that she outlived her husband Timothy West.

A friend of mine knew Pru and Tim from their support of the Waverley paddle steamer (he was captain for a while) and always spoke so well of them and posted a couple of stories on our Whatsapp group today, which I won't repeat as they are personal to him. Lovely couple by all accounts.

Just watched the Fawlty Towers tribute episode on BBC. No one else could have been Sybil!

    RIP Prunella

Oh do you? Is that what you like?...

Every line she delivered on Fawlty Towers was absolutely perfect

    RIP, absolute legend.
  • Just watched the O'Reilly episode shown tonight, Sybil referred to as a "golfing puff adder". Genius.

IMHO, simply the greatest British comedy ever made, and Prunella Scales played the role of Sybil to absolute perfection.
    RIP Prunella.
