Good afternoon everybody...unbeaten in four successive league games we will be targeting another three points away from home this weekend...

Today we have a long trip up the M1 to Deepdale, where we will be entertained by Preston North End, a team currently sitting one point and two places above us in seventh spot, their record doesn't look too dissimilar to ours, last time out Tuesday, they managed a 2-2 draw away at Hull, after taking a 0-2 lead within the first 10 minutes, with a certain Mr Small getting the opener, before being pegged back in the second half, so pretty quick out of the blocks, and we will need to be the same I can see that...
Regarding team fitness, Nathan said: "Josh will probably be out a little bit longer than a few weeks, which is disappointing ( a slight understatement) because he's been in wonderful form. Onel is in contention now, he’s had another two days training and more integration with us, so he's ready to go."

Andrew Hughes is available again for the hosts following a one-match suspension, though Pol Valentín, Brad Potts, Jordan Thompson, Robbie Brady  and Will Keane are all sidelined.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

We've gone toe-to-toe on 75 previous occasions winning 24, Preston 37 and the remaining 14 games resulting in draws, we last met at Deepdale last season in the third round of the FA Cup, when Preston were 2-1 victors thanks to an Osmajić double.

We will be sporting the red home kit in Lancashire which will be nice to see, so COYR...

Team up..

Reece Burke returns to the starting line-up for this afternoon's trip to Preston North End.

The defender replaces Amari’i Bell, who moves to the bench, as Nathan Jones makes one change to the side that drew with Derby County in midweek.

There is also a first appearance in a Charlton squad for Onel Hernández, who joined the Addicks on Monday.

Burke will join Lloyd Jones and Macaulay Gillesphey in a back three in front of Thomas Kaminski.

Kayne Ramsay and James Bree, who has scored in each of the Addicks' last two games, are likely to operate as wing-backs with Sonny Carey, Conor Coventry and captain Greg Docherty making up a midfield three.

Charlie Kelman and Tyreece Campbell once again start together up front.

Bell and Hernández are joined on the bench by Ashley Maynard-Brewer, Rankin-Costello, Luke Berry, Rob Apter, Harvey Knibbs, Tanto Olaofe and Miles Leaburn.

Charlton: Kaminski; Burke, Jones, Gillesphey; Ramsay, Carey, Coventry (c), Docherty, Bree; Kelman, Campbell

Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Bell, Rankin-Costello, Berry, Hernández, Apter, Knibbs, Olaofe, Leaburn

Lets try and keep the Match Thread away from any smutty talk please, if I wanted to have that sort of conversation I would talk to the missus about her fantasy / romance book collection
  • Tough game. Like in Derby, I'd be pleased with a point, seeing a Preston have had a good start to the campaign. But I can't shake the feeling that we're going to nick a late winner... 🤞

Who is left wing back? Seems strange on the face of it but Jones must know what he's doing.

Hmm, thought Bell would be a shoe-in for mitigating the threat down the wing of Small.

Smacks of changing the side around slightly to find a way of playing Burke, Ramsay and Bree all in the same side, but then begs the question why Gilley instead of Bell at LCB?

Can only assume Bell has had a knock and not trained for the full week

Small is going to be facing our Right-Backs?

He plays at Left-Back for Preston, rather than where he played for us I thought

He’s played on both sides for them

Looking at our bench that’s a very strong set of substitutes. We couldn’t have dreamed of that bench just two seasons ago.

I suspect it might be Ramsay that moves to the left. I know Bree has played there before but he's been so effective cutting in from the right it would be strange to move him over.

Bell has played every game and has he come off in any game? Probably due a rest.

This wouldn't have been an issue if we had signed some proper cover (another left-back) in the summer

I imagine the reason for Bree or Ramsay on the left is to have one of them on their stronger foot against Small if he cuts in from the right.

Loving the fact that 7 out of the 9 subs are attack minded, or "game changers" as they are now known.

Coming out of Sainsbury's car park just now & had to wait for a large 4x4 to try and park. As I eventually went past him I noticed it was a  RAPTOR.

    It's a sign I tell thee.

Coventry are laying down a very big marker for this season. Whoever finishes above them will be doing very well.
