Subs too soon, subs too late - Nathan can’t win!
Subs were exactly when I thought they'd happen

60-minute mark, meaning that Nathan clearly has one eye on Saturday, which is the right thing to do. Say it all the time, but its easy to criticise the subs that he makes, when we don't know how the alternative would turn out.

The subs just need to show a lot more.
  • Good point away from home. 3 points would have been nice but we ran out of steam a bit at the end there. A point’s a point though. Onto the next one. Overall I thought we played well. Just the last 10 minutes or so we lost our way a bit.
  • Got to expect the home side to come on strong in the second half and that's exactly what happened. We looked tired and nervy with no outlet for the balls out of defence.

Before the game I thought Kelman should be dropped. Thought Charlton looked a lot worse when he went off tonight.

Ramsay had a very rusty start but got better and had a good second half before going to RWB.

  • Decent point which I’d have taken beforehand

nothing to fear in this league, if we’d held on we’d be 3rd

    keeper has his best game
  • Wrong subs meant we sat back and lost all impetus!

Would have liked to have seen apter on for bree, don’t think Leaburn did much and olaofe should be coming on to be ST rather than winger.

slightly disappointed but can’t be too unrealistic about this season - championship survival is the ultimate aim, anything more is a huge positive
  • Hard not to feel disappointed with a point. Thought we were clearly the better side for 70 minutes.

  • Not a bad point on the road, couple of moments where we could've won it, when the ball fell to Knibbs in the area, Docherty's deflected shot off tanto and Ramseys strange decision making where he should've shot but at the other end there was times Kaminski kept us in it. I think we let Derby get back into the game hard to pin point when it changed but definitely a game of two halves.
  • It’s a long season and it looked like we ran out of steam in the second. Shows it’s a squad game and everyone will get their chance. There’ll be a lot of twists and turns yet.
  • Shows how far we have come that I am disappointed we didn't get an away win. Tactical change by Derby in the 2nd half caused us midfield problems.
    Still a solid away result.
  • Great goal and I'd have taken the point before tonight, but probably the worst league performance of the season over the 90 mins.

    Not worth worrying about

  • Probably a fair result in the end. Could see us losing once they equalised & we really only had one chance after that. And why Ramsay didn't put his foot through it I'll never know.

Oloafe should play a bigger part & maybe should start instead of TC. We dont have enough strength up front with Kelman & TC.....just look at Morris & the bloke they brought on at the end. Big powerful strikers who can shield the ball & bring others into it.

A 3-0 win and we'd be 2nd. Early days but happy with 8th.
  • That Knibbs chance is the one sticking with my mind. SHould have put that away
    A bad miss...

We had 3 good chances after they scored

Good point to get. Nothing to fear in this division so far. Very encouraging.
    Agreed

Thought we were excellent first half, Derby rallied 2nd half , as you’d expect, we looked a bit leggy, and running out of steam, maybe Saturday took it out of the players.

I predicted 4 points this week (before the Blackburn Match), would bite your hand off for a point against Preston.
  • Good point away from home but we were poor second half. Subs offered very little.

Happy with a point, but can't help but feel that we could have dealt with that corner. Agyemang and Clarke were the only two jumping for the ball, and for two big men like that to be allowed the time and space to do that, is disappointing.
Also, maybe the triple subs came a bit too early.

Anyway, I said before the game that I'd be pleased with a point and we got that, so no more moaning. Onwards and upwards. COYA.
Burke lost his man on the replay.
Pretty sure they said it was Ramsay's man on commentary.
  • P.s I know people are disappointed with Kelman given his pricetag, but can you imagine paying £8 million for Aygeman?! Absolute donkey.

  • Jones on Sky now
  • I thought we were good in the first half and expected us to win. Second half was very different though and whilst we could have won with some better decision making we definitely could have lost and that almost seemed likely at times. Some mixed performances. Kelman looked okay, but I was a bit disappointed with Tanto today.
Still, an away point against one of our mini league rivals is not to be sniffed at and it was nice being third while it lasted.
  • This is why we shouldn't score early! Derby came out far more aggressive in the second half and that seemed to surprise our players which was odd as you'd think they'd be ready for that. Our passing got a bit looser and they started to build a bit. Jones needed to make changes early and he chose the right time but maybe the wrong players; Ramsay to RWB wasn't really the right move, though I can see why Apter might not have been the right player to bring on away at Derby while they're raining in crosses. Knibbs was very poor today and missed a golden opportunity. I'm increasingly worried about him. Tanto was better but held on to the ball for too long a few times when he needed to pass it on; you can't be the counter attacking threat and dally on the ball. Kaminski showed his worth today by bailing us out when the defence weren't up to their usual standard which was good to see. No chance with the goal.

It's a shame we didn't win but Derby are one of the teams we will be wanting to finish above if we're going to stay up and so away from home the important thing here was not to lose. We've still got to play them at The Valley but they haven't been able to drag us back with their home game, that's huge. I know it's frustrating not be be 3rd like we'd briefly hoped but if we finish 21st we'll have done well and this might be a huge point when the season comes to a close
  • That Knibbs chance is the one sticking with my mind. SHould have put that away
It's a shame as I thought he'd put in a good shift before that.
  • FFS!! - Just posted on the Match Thread and it was closed.

Basically feel that Olaofe and Leaburn need to do a lot more if they want to start matches, was disappointed with them tonight. Would add Knibbs to that as well

Both have had fewer minutes than Campbell / Kelman, but neither put in the work rate that either starter put in... Yes we lost Carey at the same time, he needs a rest too...

But the absence of the pressure changed the game, first half and the Derby defence were rushing their attacks, because of the running from Campbell, Kelman and Carey, meaning that a lot of balls were ending up at the feet of our own players.

Second half, and that changed the moment Kelman went off, and Campbell was knackered - Neither Tanto or Miles did the same sort of running, which gave Derby more time to build their attacks.
Also Knibbs not as all action as Carey.
  • Solid point cant argue!
  • Tired legs - maybe an extra couple of changes from Saturday wouldn't have hurt.

    Decent point away though.
  • Hard not to feel disappointed with a point. Thought we were clearly the better side for 70 minutes.

This. I feel like I'm reading a post match thread for a different game, but I'm at Derby station amazed that we haven't got a win there. Worst side we've played all season and we were in complete control for so much of the game.

No composure in the box once we took Bree off. Lost count of the amount of times Docherty has the ball in a decent spot and doesn't score.
