still missing the point - i give up - why is it only this fixture? why does this happen at no other ground? that is the point - millwall play all over the country so why is it only us that are inconvenienced? and i don't care if it did or didn't happen at palace last night - it shouldn't happen anywhere
You’re massively contradicting yourself there, it does happen at other grounds as we’ve now seen. It also doesn’t take a genius to work out that a south London derby is going to be more fiery than them playing Stoke. I’m not saying I agree with it but it doesn’t take much to work out why it has a different approach than other games. They have to treat it differently to any other fixture, they just chose the wrong method
wrong - what other local derby sees the home fans held in?
As you acknowledged yourself you already know the answer, it happened last night!

What other local derbies involve Millwall?
exactly - they're a gang of utter mongs and we're being inconvenienced because of it - its ridiculous
  • we're being held back in case gary glitter without his syrup on, with his belcher hanging outside his roll neck and his shades on might go on the rampage? ridiculous
  • You could read it as......

"We had less complaints than we did against another local(ish) London club. Thank you for pointing this out & we will make sure that from now on we will let the away fans out first and let our loyal home fans take the scenic route around the retail park".

    Twunks.

when you don't ask the right questions, you allow bland generic bollox like that to be the answer - 'take it up with the police, we're not telling you the reason why we rolled over and allowed our home fans to be fucked over again at the expense of millwall fans and you never asked us that anyway so why would we offer that information up' - cast, your useless.
Why do you keep giving CAST grief for the fuckups of the Police and the club? The obvious answer to why the club "rolled over" and didn't keep the Millwall fans in is that they needed the Police agreement to do that. Or were you expecting the stewards to keep 3000 pissed off Millwall fans in the Jimmy Seed without any police support? Would we even have had a safety certificate for the match if we didn't agree the policing arrangements for the game with the Met? And the club has no control over how the Police decide to deal with fans once they've left the ground.
Given that a similar stupid strategy appears to have been used at Palace v Millwall that seems to indicate that the driving force behind the decision was the Met and not the club. The club has handled (and continues to handle) the communications very poorly, could possibly have done better with stewarding by the gate that got broken through, but the bigger villain of the piece is whichever idiot in the Met decided that this was a good plan.
Am I right in thinking the club can pay costs for the police to be inside the ground and thus ensuring the safety arrangements of 20k Charlton fans after the game?

because nowhere in any of your questions have u asked why they, the police, thought that would be the right solution when iot doesn't happen at any other ground? the club must know the answer to that surely? this wouldn't happen in a rangers celtic, villa birmingham or man utd liverpool match so how the hell has it been allowed to happen here - again ? useless

    .
  • this will be my last post on this topic - the point is - cast - what gives greenwich police the right to put this imposition on us instead of millwall  when it happens nowhere else in the country? they've taken what they think is the easy option, at our expense, and that is what i'm not happy about and want corrected for the next time we play them - that is the question you are not asking either the club or the police but should be - over and out, i'll write to the club and police and ask them

Other than the fact it literally happened last night, my guess is that The Valley is one of the only stadiums in the league that has poor infrastructure accessing the main train sport link.

Access to the station is almost exclusively navigated via Floyd Road
Not sure if you've been to The Den but it's a very similar setup with access to South Bermondsey station, the only difference is both grounds our fans get inconvenienced instead of there's.

And if you keep them in the Jimmy Seed Stand for 45 mins at full time then access via Floyd Road isn't an issue as it would be there fans only by the time they'd be let out.
Do the away fans not get to use the gated walkway directly to the station anymore?

Only time I remember being held back at The Den was after the 4-0 drubbing, where we took a considerable amount of VEX Coaches

Wow, what a response from the club. So, in short, they’re sending out a survey....is this serious? Sadly, not surprising. As long as we keep buying tickets and merch, the club seems unconcerned about inconveniencing 20,000 fans or that some were attacked.

There’s no apology for the lack of communication on these arrangements, nor for downplaying violence inside the ground when Charlton fans were attacked. CAST’s email didn’t stress this enough either.

From the club’s stance, the message seems clear: email fans@cafc.co.uk, don’t bother us with safety issues, and if fans are attacked, go to the police, here’s a link. Not our problem.

Meanwhile, SMT and Comms clearly have no intention of addressing this with the wider fanbase via the website or socials. Job done with CAST and a survey, but they’ll keep pumping out endless messages about tickets, merch, and hospitality. It’s not anger now, just sadness that the club shows so little care for fan safety or respect for genuine concerns.

We get held back at their place everytime since 2010, with exception of 2012

  • Poor response from the club, but should we be surprised, unless the communication is about selling tickets, then the vast majority of all communications are poor.
Said it before and got lols, Income before safety and fans comfort all the time at CAFC. The yanks have a lot to answer for.
  • I would imagine the easy option is to tell the Millwall fans they will be kept in the ground when they buy a ticket and Charlton fans outside the ground are moved on.
