Let’s compare to another newly promoted team who have a similar / slightly less 120 mile+ journey to their first away game in the Championship.

I agree, it is still a good showing, but you know my thoughts now. Just wish we did more.ElfsborgAddick said:Braziliance said:

Yet a percentage of the demand for Wembley tickets came from 9-14 yr olds - how dare they not travel to Bristol !Braziliance said:
Would have been tough to manage when I was aged between 9-14 years old. I don't know many young teenagars that have the income and are allowed to travel to away games on their own.LargeAddick said:I’m assuming that @Braziliance wasn’t around in our PL seasons. Some of our turn outs then were shocking.
Amazed how much this has triggered people. The best part is I wasn't even on a wind up, just pointing out that it would be nicer to see a bit more excitement after an amazing season.
More replies incoming but it won't change the fact we are looking like we have struggled to sell out our first Championship away day after people losing their minds on the Wembley tickets thread.
Also, cause you're evidently a bit of a plonker, I'll go a bit more in depth. A 9 year old that has parents or family are very different to a Charlton fan who has no relatives that support Charlton and no one willing to take them to a game, I would firmly fall into the category of 'wants to go but can't' which of whom none of my post is aimed at for those circumstances. Tit.
What we are taking is still a very good turnout.0 -
Looks like no one has booked holidays in Birmingham/there's nothing to do in Birmingham other than watch footballoohaahmortimer said:Let’s compare to another newly promoted team who have a similar / slightly less 120 mile+ journey to their first away game in the Championship.

They’re probably just trying to avoid having to spend another day in Birmingham.oohaahmortimer said:Let’s compare to another newly promoted team who have a similar / slightly less 120 mile+ journey to their first away game in the Championship.

By visiting Blackburn. It’s like avoiding walking into a dog turd by swimming through human effluent.West2003 said:

Second largest city in the UK who's only competition for share of fans is Villa isn't exactly comparable to us though is it? You seem to be obsessed with what other clubs are doing, my advice would be to make those ticket sales 7,034 so you can enjoy an away day with proper fans instead of us!Braziliance said:

I like the mental gymnastics on this thread! Oohaahmortimer and Braziliance and spot on and perhaps related?! If we had Liverpool away mid week at £40 a ticket in the middle of August, tickets would fly off the shelfs.
Have to say, our away support has gone from embarrassing to respectable. 2.5k to Bristol is still very good IMO.

And when they went there two years ago in their relegation season this was the attendance:oohaahmortimer said:Let’s compare to another newly promoted team who have a similar / slightly less 120 mile+ journey to their first away game in the Championship.
Attendance: 12,693 (1,446 away)
Doesn't mean anything.9 -
2.5k to Bristol City is superb for us in my opinion. No point comparing us to Birmingham, same way as you wouldn't compare our away support to Leeds'.
Here's the averages from last season in the champ. I'd expect us to be in and around the 1500 markMillwall - 889
Swansea City - 964
Watford - 1,081
Preston North End - 1,236
Cardiff City - 1,257
Luton Town - 1,272
Hull City - 1,273
Bristol City - 1,330
QPR - 1,418
Blackburn Rovers - 1,440
Norwich City - 1,458
Oxford United - 1,516
Stoke City - 1,574
Plymouth Argyle - 1,612
West Brom - 1,876
Coventry City - 2,173
Middlesbrough - 2,191
Burnley - 2,202
Sheffield United - 2,246
Pompey - 2,263
Sheffield Wednesday - 2,353
Derby County - 2,549
Sunderland - 2,751
Leeds United - 3,120

Our average numbers will definitely be helped by having Leicester/Southampton/Ipswich in the division instead of Sunderland/Leeds/Burnley.1

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the original 2,503 figure was our initial allocation — the central three blocks in the Atyeo Stand. Since then, Bristol City have quietly opened up the shoulder blocks (N36 & N40) and both end blocks (N35 & N41) as demand has grown. We’re now down to about 250 seats left in a 4,200-capacity away end, meaning we’ve sold around 3,950 tickets.Friend Or Defoe said:I like the mental gymnastics on this thread! If we had sold our initial allocation the club would have announced that we have received extra ticketsChar1t0n said:

Norwich's away support has slipped massively on that table!0 -
Very wrong unfortunately. There is no way we would ever be taking 4k to Bristol City as nice as that would be.Char1t0n said:

The blocks were just opened up gradually by Charlton not because we received any extra tickets.
The front rows are netted off in the away end, looking at the map when selecting tickets it seems that the first row you can select from is row 12. There looks to be around 37 seats in a row in each block, there are 7 blocks so you're comfortably looking at 2k seats netted off .3 -

It’s a good number considering time of year and number of away games to come. Realistically we are not going to win the league or go for promotion and hopefully not in the relegation places so high away attendances may not be the case this year - outside of Pomey, Millwall, QPR …Chris_from_Sidcup said:
Middle of August when a lot of people are still away on holiday and you're disappointed that we've sold about 2,400 tickets? Seems like pretty decent numbers to me.AFKABartram said:Plenty of tickets still in Block 35 and a few in 41.
Personal view, I think it’s a little disappointing given all that’s happened in the last 12 months that we took 2,700 to Reading in L1 this time last year and we are struggling to sell our allocation for first game back in the Champ.

That's me done, it's been explained to me they netted off the first 12 rows. I'll remain quiet, except to say a free ticket if anyone can get to Bristol. Message for more details 😊AFKABartram said:

My 3 arrived in the post a couple days ago. Today 3 more arrived. Different seats and 1 adult 2 u12s. Called the ticket office. Turns out they've been sent to me by mistake. Told to rip them up and they'll get new ones to the right owner....

Anyone wanna buy an adult and 2 u12 tickets?

- Bexleyheath - 8:20am

Pick-Up Points/Times for coach Two- Larkfield - 8:20am
