I don’t think Charlie was brought in as a starter I think he would have been eased into the team and using Godden to teach him along the way .. but Godden injury has falsed  us to use him earlier then we had planned … but I think
he done well and looking better each game , the problem not him .
Ahh yes the player that cost a 1/3-1/4 of our entire summer budget was not brought in to be a regular starter.
He never cost as much as people think NJ said that …. If Godden was fit to start this season Kelman would be on the bench and probably would have had a couple of goals by coming on as sub
That’s because Fabricio Reported it as 3.5M rising to 5M. Cawley said himself in his Substack that the fee is still very hefty. If you genuinely believe we spent a stupid amount of money for Kelman to sit on the bench this season when the whole aim of this season was to survive the you’re lying to yourself

I'd not calling it lying, ahem.
  • Charlie Kelman has played for Charlton in 9 Championship matches (470 minutes playing time) plus 2 EFL cup matches (88 minutes playing time)

His record is from the 11 games (558 minutes of playing time) is 0 Goals and 0 Assists, and from memory probably no more than 3 or 4 shots on target.

It looks to me that his ceiling is League 1, and the Championship is a step too far for him.

If we really paid £3 million pounds for him, QPR certainly pulled our pants down, and have got us back big time for selling them Macaulay Bonne.

The forwards really need to start scoring some goals, and I cannot see that Charlie is the answer. Daniel Kanu has been loaned out, but he was a better forward than Kelman.

In my opinion we are wasting our time with Kelman leading the line.

Agreed... Apart from Kanu. Just don't see anything in Kelman game, he isn't quick, tough isn't that great, he isn't strong, he doesn't get in to the right place, and the minimal shots he has had have been weak.. People will say he hasn't had the chances yet.. Sorry, that doesn't buy with me.. It is a striker job, to get in to the right position to create those chances.. Lots of balls have gone into the box, and he isn't in slight, or is the wrong area..

if you watch Kelman he’s constantly pointing to where he wants it played to him and is often largely ignored. Probably doesn’t help that I think he likes it in quick (his best half chances have been first time flicks) and TC like to hold the ball up to take on the defender.

Personally I think Kelman is looking sharper and sharper and looks like he has some quality, I’m just convinced our system just doesn’t work with a player with kelman’s attributes.
