I’ve been told that he was brought in for a very specific purpose rather than the usual ceo role - the person who told me unfortunately couldn’t remember what that purpose was - sounds implausible but it is true
Probably coming on as a CE but tasked with a most pressing project eg running a change programme, structuring the business to purchase the valley etc… I don’t really know what I’m talking about to be fair

That's not really his background though, he's much more of a recruitment type of person rather than a Charlie Methven business person.
Been told by a friend that Vitesse have lost they licence to play football.
So Danes old club no longer in business at the moment.
That comes as no surprise. They were taken over by a certain Coley Parry in 2022 who has a very bad record and failed the owners and director's test of the Dutch FA. They lost their livcense in summer 2024 but kept it in an appeal.
Believe Murphy took over with four others after that at the eleventh hour in 2024 and was CEO for 2 months or so in 2025. Does not look good on him but don't think he is to blame for them losing their license, could see that coming from 100 miles away. Apparently they have now lost their license because they failed to deliver on promises made in 2024 even before their takeover.
Odd that there is still no announcement on this one? I think Jones credited "Jim"( Rodwell?) with how hard he has been working on transfers in the post Dartford interview. Doesn't sound like Murphy is involved at all or will be anytime soon

He’s not in post yet
I think that’s the whole point of the discussion. Why ? It was announced over a month ago.
They got far better things to do at the EFL like constantly pushing back any outcomes of rule breaches for Sheffield Wednesday, and the constant arse-licking and ball-tickling of the Premier League that they do
Not to defend the pathetic scum of the EFL; and I’m sure this delay is cos they’re picking their noses on a sun lounger somewhere at the moment rather than doing anything productive
BUT
equally, in the (probably unlikely) event that this delay is because they are actually doing a robust and thorough Directors and owners test, then quite frankly given our past experiences we should be celebrating and endorsing that fact.
The club could still have its own ground and we might have had a very different last few years if these protocols had existed a few years back

Think the slight difference is Murphy’s already done the exact same role for 2 different English clubs and was valued very very highly and did a good job. Can appreciate it’s important to make sure but surely should have been a formality for someone like him rather than random Arabs no one has ever heard of who are trying to be owners rather than a CEO

Approving somebody based on a bit of basic google research and some forest fan forums is exactly what the EFL shouldn’t be doing.
I’m sure he’s fine, but repeating my previous message. I’d rather everyone with substantial influence in football clubs was being scrutinised to the Nth degree
Football is a corrupt and sordid industry awash with wrong ‘uns and naive or deluded associates of wrong ‘uns, all desperate for the next pound or penny they can get their hands on at any cost.
The stakes are too high and there are way too many conmen, chancers with big promises and one hit wonder know it alls out there.
I hope he's not working as a shadow director, or in an ad hoc, agency or consultancy basis while awaiting the ODT. It would be typical for Charlton to receive ODT approval for the new CEO and then immediately face sanctions because he's been working prior to the approval coming through.

Well his Linked-in profile says he is an independant consultant...so probably (at the moment) freelance. If he is doing some consultancy for the club working for himself I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem as long as he isn't signing stuff as CEO.

Watford will beat us 5-0..............again.
That was the start of the protests.

Sure he can do some work on a "consultancy" basis in the meantime
I say 2 years because until 2023 he was at Forest, and obviously passed a test for that role.
