So why has he not joined us ? what did they have to mutually agree for him not to join ?
Club : Hiya Dane, Any news on your clearance?
Dane : Well to be honest I’m having problems due to this Vitesse thing. Club : Well do you expect it to be resolved soon ?
Dane: Actually I don’t.
Club : Well we need to get a CEO in place so perhaps we could agree this is an unfortunate and unforeseen problem and as it’s not going away, we should just draw a line under it and both move on ?
Dane: That’s probably for the best under the circumstances. Will you issue a statement along those lines ?
In the grand scheme of things I couldn’t give a toss. The club appears to be in safe, sensible hands now, we are having a fantastic transfer window and I am hoping that carries over to Championship survival next season
A new CEO will be in place at some point, it just so happens this one didn’t work out
No conspiracy theory needed. CCharlton wanted him. He wanted to come. Unfortunately he has been unable to sell his shares so the deal is off
Or.. a conspiracy theory for those that want one anyway
Charlton wanted him.
He wanted to come. He agreed to sell his shares The club announced he was joining us The purchaser of the shares realised he had leverage over Dane and tried to drop the price, the process stalled. We announce it is off The purchaser has no leverage and now buys the shares at the agreed price He joins us in a couple of weeks.
If I wasn't so happy with the football side of things, I'd be more inclined to call this incident a complete shambles.
I doubt either the club or Murphy expected problems so I think it’s pretty unfair to call this anything other than unfortunate and unforeseen
I don't think it's unfair at all. They easily could have waited until the appointment was official before announcing it. They wouldn't announce a player signing before it had gone through.
At the end of the day, no damage has been done, but it's fair to say it could have been handled better.
When in the chronicle of wasted time I see descriptions of the fairest wights, And beauty making beautiful old rhyme In praise of ladies dead and lovely knights, Then in the blazon of sweet beauty’s best, Of hand, of foot, of lip, of eye, of brow, I see their antique pen would have expressed Even such a beauty as you master now. So all their praises are but prophecies Of this our time, all you prefiguring; And, for they looked but with divining eyes, They had not skill enough your worth to sing. For we, which now behold these present days, Have eyes to wonder, but lack tongues to praise.
Forget which number sonnet but Bill played a blinder there
Just get the correct person in place Maybe that’s Murphy in a few months or maybe it’s someone else, they just need the experience of building a club into a capable championship team that has aspirations of the prem
Tbf there is zero chance that a former prem forest ceo being appointed at charlton would have not been picked up by the press, and it would have looked amateur hour if the papers had announced it before us. I'd guess he has struggled to get fair value on his Vittesse shares, which he would have needed to sell to come in as CEO, and it's dragged on too long, so we have moved on
I assume that selling his shares in Vitesse was Charlton’s requirement, as these wouldn’t have been an issue with the EFL. As we’ve seen from the shambles in Croydon, you can own shares in more than one club…so long as you aren’t in the same country/competition.
Vitesse does sound like a mess, so perhaps that was a sound requirement from Charlton to ensure we didn’t get dragged into it by association.
As mentioned, Comms could and should be better, but I’d expect a decent CEO to sort that out…soon(ish) 🤷🏻♂️😉
They are not relegated, they just lost their professional football license (Holland has 2 professional divisions and you can't get relegated from the 2nd one). However seems like several club watchers are somewhat optimistic they will obtain a license as they appealed.
What I gather from Dutch media, is that - after Russia got out of Chelsea/Vitesse - an American called Coley Parry wanted to buy Vitesse and loaned the club money ("several millions", which is the only reason they were able to pay the bills). The Dutch football regulator objected to that sale, Vitesse got for a short period a Dutch owner and then 5 guys bought Vitesse, one of those 5 being Dane Murphy. However ~2 weeks ago Vitesse lost their professional football license because the regulator suspects that those 5 are acting as a front for Coley Parry. Unclear to what extent Dane Murphy's involvement is in this shitshow, because on the one hand Parry claims the Vitesse shares and because of that the five can't complete the sale, but simultaneously the regulator suspects they are in cahoots with each other ...
Looks to me like Murphy did a decent enough job at other clubs to give him the benefit of the doubt. Let's just hope the stink of Vitesse doesn't follow him.
If you literally quote cq. copy/paste someone from another forum, the least you can do is say so. Not that I mind, but think it's important to provide proper context, i.e. this was a post from june 10th.

As a shareholder there, he was waiting to sell his shares there and pass the EFL test.
Or so I've read.
Club : Well do you expect it to be resolved soon ?

Couldnt get past his first name being Dane anyway.

He agreed to sell his shares
The club announced he was joining us
