Is it an urban “street” approach if it’s just shot on the roads around the Valley? Surely that’s just Charlton?
    "street" is not literal...

but if it was, I'd prefer it if it was "pitch".
So a picture of someone half on here wants replaced, standing on a sand pit?

Really like the ad. Men and women's team involved, and I think a few of the non-Charlton players are fans.

Lewis and Rhea of course Charlton, not sure on the others. Nice to see that along with Sean and Niall the drummers getting some recognition.
Really dislike the ad. Typical of today's adverts for most things where an urban "street" approach is taken despite most of the buyers being middle aged forty somethings from Kent.

Personally I'd prefer a picture of the men's captain standing on the pitch with the new kit on.

But then I'm increasingly becoming the old git that loves a moan because things aren't as good as they used to be.

In terms of the kit itself - it's a no from me. Looks mouldy, but at least the club will save money on armbands if someone dies.
Are middle aged 40 somethings from Kent really the target audience for shirts and merch ?

I doubt it - more aimed at late 60s overweight men from up t'north.

I didn't say "target audience", I said "buyers". The two aren't necessarily the same.

can't see it mentioned on site but does anybody know if the travel shirts are like a polyester material... like the matchday shirts?

I play 6-a-side on Monday and my team wears black tops. I really like the travel shirt and want to use if the material is right

If it's like the Castore travel shirts they'll be more like a standard cotton t shirt

Edit: looking at this pic I stole from Twitter it could be more of a "sport" material

So if you disagree with me, and have an alternative opinion, is your view also an "Awful, Awful take"?

So who are they buying it for ? I'm not sure my parents would have stopped me having a kit just because they didn't like the advertising campaign shared on Instagram.

The pictures of it not being modelled look promising. The pictures of it being modelled just don’t look right to me. To me it looks like they’ve all been given a shirt that is too big and it’s been pinned at the back to try and gather it in across the chest but not the neck area or stomach. I suspect it’s a shirt that everyone will need to try different sizes of (unless the only options are S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL).

Yes, the first thing I thought was all the shirts look too big  :D:D:D         NOT.

I don't know who anyone is buying it for.

Brands will market to an audience they want to "consider" their product, not necessarily the buyers of that product.

Look at a digital advert for North Face and let me know if you can see a bloke in crampons.

Much of any companies marketing is not aimed at the people already consuming the product, but is rather aimed at new customers who will bring incremental sales over and above the "base".

Most people posting on here are "base" - if they were going to buy the shirt it could have been shown on a pile of shit and it wouldn't change purchasing intent.

This isn't a criticism of the club by the way. It's what marketing is. It doesn't mean I have to like the execution.

Maybe it’s like rugby and these are replica rather than performance shirts the team will wear

Don’t know if mentioned already (have skipped a few pages) but is the badge in the wrong position? Might be optical illusion with the diagonal stripes but looks like the badge has been rotated a few degrees clockwise

Is one of our new signings going to be some sort of ballet dancer to get each leg in opposite directions ? 😉😆

Couldn’t give a toss about the shirt just as long as we give our all and stay in the league, I don’t wear replica shirts and only buy them when cheap to sit around the house in. Some of the training stuff looks nice but end of season sale for me

Not that I care but all of our kits look rubbish with three massive letters right on the front. That’s got to be the largest shirt sponsor I’ve ever seen.

Bang University Of Greenwich on the front and that’s a lovely kit.
I completely agree- we must have the biggest shirt sponsor in world football (in terms of space taken up) it does tend to dominate any shirt, I'm sure the sponsor doesn't mind but in terms of aesthetic appeal it numbs the effect of any shirt.
I'm terms of Reebok's design- not the greatest but far from the worst - that honour would go to the Nike Arsenal Chevron debacle and the last Joma kit- they were truly appalling. 7/10

Don't love the home shirt, don't hate it, but it may grow on me once we see it in action. Think the black and grey travelwear looks nice though.
  • I almost always wait for some kind of sale etc, but as they're available already I've gone ahead and purchased one for me, and one for the boy.
