Looks like one that people either really like or really don't. I'm in the former camp myself but I can see why it's not universally popular
    I don’t mind it!

    There's always one....  :D
  • •    Junior Replica Shirt (short sleeve): £40?

Seems a bit expensive to me, and as I have 4 grandkids aged from 3-6. that's the birthday presents sorted then. With the other grandparents buying a kit evertime they go on holiday abroad, the eldest son has quite a collection already.

I like to buy from the shop, when the stuff is in there ! and of course I will buy 2 for the 'Bexley family' as they wear them every day they come home from school. The girl of three used to wear her brothers 'castoffs' , but she hopes to join a girls team in Bexley soon. Her brother has been offered 2  places with local clubs, but there are much fewer clubs these days. The Bexley junior league had 3 divisions in each age range with, with an A/B/C sub section. Let alone the Kent league!

Since Covid, junior football is still recovering it seems, I managed several clubs for the best part of 20 years, and loved both Saturday and Sunday football.

Anyone, got children/grandchildren  at local clubs?  especially Bexley.

Just seen someone post this after going to the shop, looks like they already have training wear in too.

The pictures of it not being modelled look promising. The pictures of it being modelled just don’t look right to me. To me it looks like they’ve all been given a shirt that is too big and it’s been pinned at the back to try and gather it in across the chest but not the neck area or stomach. I suspect it’s a shirt that everyone will need to try different sizes of (unless the only options are S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL).

  • Maybe the details of the lease got in the way?

In the past, all these items would have been blamed back to Dangermouse and Burgerboy. Who is our next in line?
  • A bit busy for my tastes. I don't mind the diagonal stripes, it's the mildew splodges that look a bit OTT.

At their ages you could get the whole infant kit for £50. Think they go to about 8 years of ages in previous seasons

You can’t win when it comes to kits. People are already moaning that this new one’s too busy, but I remember the clean, simple 15/16 shirt getting slammed for looking like a plain golf polo. What the fuck do people want then?

People don't like template kits, but the Adidas 1986 shirt I see people wearing repro versions of was a template worn by multiple teams.....
What appeals to them,  and not everyone shares the same taste. You can't surely expect universal approval of a design concept, especially a non beige and bold option like this one. I don't like it, but I can see that great effort has gone into making it distinctive, so I'm not knocking anyone for that.

You can definitely have kits that win over a majority — just look at the 2009-11 England shirt or the 2018 Nigeria one. But I can't remember a recent Charlton shirt getting that kind of universal approval. Maybe the Hummel special edition in 2017 came close?

That said, I don’t think clubs should just churn out any old design, accept a mixed reception as inevitable, and shrug it off. It’s not unreasonable to expect better.

  • Looks alright. Looking forward to see what the white lines represent in the PR guff.

Trainlines? Greenwich Meantime? The Cable Cars at North Greenwich?

    I can’t wait.
    We have it:

'...distinctive white diagonal pinstripes, echoing the blade of the sword in the club’s logo.'

Thats definitely gone up, they were £40 last season.
  • Don’t like the black trim on the sleeves not matching the white trim on the collar but the club won’t lose any money from me as I don’t buy or wear replica shirts.

That’s a cracking home shirt. Training top is nice although not keen on the two logos centred on top of each other, but just me.
