Nathan Jones speculation - Cawley says indications are no chance Jones going to Cardiff (p20)

If he was to join Cardiff then he can kind of do one would hope him nothing but misfortune there. That passion he showed can’t just be turned on I hope anyway and he isn’t going anywhere1

What about the god factor? One of my mates became a born again Christian. He used to be a bit of a scally, shall we say. But zealous doesn’t even do him justice when talking about him carrying out ‘god’s will’. He made millions from some land and gave it all to charity (he has 5 kids & several grandkids btw & lives in an ordinary house in Bolton) because god told him to in a vision. Fair play. What if god tells Jones to manage Cardiff?😂6

I’m sure one day he’ll manage Cardiff, but with them in L1 and off field chaos, whilst having achieved success with us, this isn’t the time.0
-
Surely if he wanted the Cardiff job that badly he'd have gone when Bulut was sacked last season? Would expect them to end up with Des Buckingham.0

Athletico Charlton said:Next season there are 4 Championship clubs with parachute money, one is Leicester who have all sorts of FFP issues; one is Sheffield United who's parachute payments have just massively reduced having missed the jump straight back up and will need to sell.
There is a chance for a team without those parachute payments to go up. Why not us...
Or NJ can go to Cardiff and play Burton and Doncaster.
It isn't happening and if it did then I would question his decision making so much I would be happy he isn't here any more!
we will be in a relegation battle next year, hopefully successful but it will be a long old season2 -
He’d love the thought of all the attention he’s getting with this ridiculous bed wetting about him going to Cardiff.0

Utter madness.
However, having a manager who's stock is high is bound to result in speculation at a time of year when the managerial merry go round is revolving fastest.
In the unlikely event he was he tempted to leave though, for whoever, then as a Championship club we're a more attractive proposition for a better quality of candidate, so 'Wayne Rooney's Charlton Athletic' I can't see happening. I'm expecting it to still be Nathan Jones, but as SHG says, not with 100% certainty.2 -

Can he stay grounded, and will the owners plan AND budget, meet with his own views as being reasonable?
I don't doubt that he loves a challenge, but it needs to be reasonably achievable. The Championship is unforgiving and there are big spenders and established clubs aplenty. We will do well to stay up, regardless if budget, however a smaller budget proportionate to the competitors, will equate to a season-long struggle. Does that put fire in NJ's belly, or have him looking at another option, that he would love?0 -

Two times now that budget has been mentioned, and our spokespeople said we would be looking to maneuver in the market sensibly.
On the other hand, Nathan Jones said to a fan that "we're fackin loaded".
Never a boring day at Charlton.)
I'm sure some fans would rather have us negotiate transfer fees upwards to satisfy their need to see the owners statement of intent, but we've already seen it haven't we? As a result, we're in the Championship now. Why doubt the owners wouldn't back him to keep us there?0 -
Another snippet from my overheard conversation between my mate and an academy coach .. NJ is so focused on Charlton, he spent the week before the play off final sleeping at the training ground. Jones to Cardiff … Nah. Not having it18

Given his previous experiences of jumping ship when in a good job, it would be absolutely mind boggling for Nathan Jones to take the Cardiff job. As we are only too aware getting out of League One is horrendously difficult, and to subject yourself to that again, having only just miraculously completed that task would take sado-masochism to a whole new level.
With Luton and Plymouth joining the likes of Stockport, Reading, Leyton Orient, Huddersfield, Bolton and Wycombe there is no doubt that it will be the dirtiest of dog fights getting out of that little lot, and for a manager that is undoubtedly ambitious to get back to the higher levels of the game, taking a backward step in your early 50's would be kamikaze to say the least,3 -

according to a Cardiff supporting mate he is on the short list3

To put your minds at rest this is from a Cardiff supporter who seems to have good connections writing on a Cardiff forum talking about Jones
Its simple there only 4 Managers that where interviewed by the Club 1 Ian Evatt 2 Des Buckingham 3 Aaron Ramsey 4 Brian Barry Murphy……… no approach has or will be made for Nathan Jones

I still chuckle every time I see or hear the name Des Buckingham4

Important thing in the article is that he’s said he’s not actively pushing a move and we’re demanding hefty compensation. Scary thing though is nothing is close so it’s going to drag on and give us even less time to get a new manager in and get the squad ready for him if Jones does go3

Can't believe so many people are stressing about this. I don't think there's any chance he leaves.
If Cardiff were in the Championship with a decent owner then i think he'd probably be gone, but he's at a club in a higher division where everything is pretty much run exactly how he wants it. He's got the players he wants, we've employed the staff he wants, we're led to believe he has the final say on transfers etc.
No way he's upping and leaving to work for Vincent Tan. Not to mention Tan won't pay the compensation. Look at their last few managers.
McCarthy - out of work
Morison - promoted from academy manager
Hudson - promoted from backroom staff.
Lamouchi - out of work
Bulut - out of work
Riza - promoted from backroom staff.
I think it's far more likely they get someone like Evatt or Selles.5 -
🤐 stop this talk 😱
If Nathan Goes to Cardiff it's only to visit family and if sunny to relax in Barry island and get a sun TAN 😎
It really isn't worth biting your nails over just a week after the orgasmic Play off final.
We are back with clubs our size. All give your heads a wobble and embrace the challenge in a supportive way because we should all be feeling champion after being back after 5 years in the 2nd tier of English football.
Let the honeymoon last a little longer.
