Nathan Jones speculation - Cawley says indications are no chance Jones going to Cardiff (p20)

In his mind, he wouldn't be going to manage a Club in League 1 though, he'd be going to manage his club, Cardiff, and would back himself to get them promoted at the first attempt. That's my best guess.covered_end_junior said:I’ve no doubt the interest is there from Cardiff and if they stayed up I’d be 50/50 on whether he’d go there or not.
With them in league 1 though I can’t really see it happening. Plymouth is a complete non starter.
He wouldn't be hated if we continue progressing as a club without him. Past villains have become hated because of the consequences of their decisions. I think we'll continue on an upward path now with or without Jones. We're not bobbing for Apples in the Championship now are we?

There’s no way Jones has spent the last 18 months, working his nuts off to restore his reputation and get himself back into the championship to go straight back into league one for anyone. Can we have the football back please 🙏13

The wage budget is currently at least less than half every other team in the Championship. Without significant investment, Charlton could come straight back down. Whereas, he could lead Cardiff City straight back up & have double or more his current budget when back in the Championship. He certainly doesn’t lack belief in his abilities. But is pretty fragile ego wise. He may think the season could be a struggle & Charlton fans will quickly be on his back again. Whereas at Cardiff City he could play the home boy hero turning the club around.Again, not saying that is the case at all. But it’s what the post on the Plymouth forum suggests (oh the irony 😂). And nothing would surprise me in football. Nothing.5 -
Jones knows only too well from his time with Luton and Stoke, that a small budget doesn’t guarantee failure just as a big one doesn’t guarantee success.Woodwork said:

Where as we’re finally being run by people who are actually making sensible decisions.5 -

But I think Cardiff City is a lure for him & so people can convince themselves of anything if they want something bad enough, ie Jones may think he is the one to turn his hometown club around, despite Tan.0 -

I do have to admire the sheer twichiness of some, and the ability to believe any old bullshit on that cesspit of a site3

Too much stock into ''they're his boyhood club'' talk I think, for managers and players alike this is a job, and even if Cardiff would pay more (which I doubt) it's a huge backwards step to work for a known loon with a twitchy trigger finger, or he can stay where he has built for 16 months, has multiple players he's worked with before in the door and now multiple staff members in Chappell and Hylton
just bollocks from twitter with no substance IMO2 -
Even their own fans are saying he doesn’t have a clueValley11 said:Mendonca In Asdas said:

I can't believe the comments on here. Get a grip, Jones is going NOWHERE. He'll be Charlton's manager at the start of next season. The ownership believe in him, the players believe in him and now the supporters believe in him. All this bedwetting on him going to Cardiff are just rumours and inuendo. He has built a team in his image and I'm sure he want's to ccontinue the journey with Charlton.4

I reckon it's got some legs. And by that I mean a Cardiff approach.Marriott110 said:Too much stock into ''they're his boyhood club'' talk I think, for managers and players alike this is a job, and even if Cardiff would pay more (which I doubt) it's a huge backwards step to work for a known loon with a twitchy trigger finger, or he can stay where he has built for 16 months, has multiple players he's worked with before in the door and now multiple staff members in Chappell and Hylton

Why wouldn't they? They're in the shit. He's from down the road and has been quoted as wanting the job at some point in his career.
Whether he entertains the idea is a whole other matter.
Personally think no chance.1 -
He’s 14/1Braziliance said:Have we considered the involvement of AI?5 -
Not a chance he leaves us for Argyle, smaller club who ultimately don’t have the same ambition as us. Cardiff is a different question, bigger club and he’s obviously a fan, but he would ultimately be working for a crack pot owner in a lower division.0

Not worried in the least.1

He’s not a fan, He’s a Swansea’s ambassador that’s like a Millwall fan saying why the hell would Jones want to manager Charlton they’re tiny or some bs like that.Red_Chester said:

Not talking about Trundle, talking about the supposed Journalist who said Des Buckingham was getting the job less then 24 hours agoCrispywood said:

Things change in football, the concern I have is there’s like 50 comments on that post from Cardiff fans and not a single one of them has slated him or told him to stop making things up like an Alan Nixon. They seem to trust his insightsRothko said:

i think cardiff probably tapped him up early this season when things weren't going well and i'm sure they would like him now but unless our owners come up with a hopeless budget, I can't see him going anywhere3

0% chance he is going4

Cardiff has a toxic ownership, but never say never in football.
NJ will probably see what support he gets in this window before we will know his intentions.
Time for the yanks to put some real cash in.

They will know relegation would be a disaster, I am confident that a budget and strategy put to Jones will be acceptable.BigDiddy said:Cardiff has a toxic ownership, but never say never in football.

They need to make a clear statement NOW, so that we all know where the club stands. If NJ is supported, season ticket sales will also pick up. Like you say, we need a clear strategy to push on - survival with a sub standard squad will end in disaster and NJ and his team would walk in that scenario.ElfsborgAddick said:

End of the day this squad needs major surgery just to stay up, if he’s not been promised the funds then it’s a hopeless task.HardyAddick said:0% chance he is going5
