I had no idea you guys paid that much, always considered you to be one the championships lowest payers.MillwallFan said:
God knows but I’ve heard our top earners are on roughly 30k a week so might not be far off that.Chris_from_Sidcup said:
And what's his salary? Sure i read he was on 25k a week at Luton.MillwallFan said:
Although maybe you actually are and i'm out of touch with wages in this league.0 -
No need, he's a good player assuming he still has the pace / ability he had when with us so i've probably seen more of him - faster running with the ball than without was often said about him by others in the academy - would seem to be a good signing for you but given your recruitment so far this summer, that can't be guaranteed obviously.MillwallFan said:1 -
As noted in that Twitter thread, you do need to keep an eye on his fitness! Not the slimmest player you'll ever see...1
-
Yes. From what I’ve heard we have been paying decent wages since we’ve been back in the championship. Not as much as the top end with their PL parachute payments obviously but around the average for the league. The thing we didn’t spend money on previously was transfers. We were always after cheap deals. Now we seem to be doing both.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

We are all very happy with the recruitment we’ve made this summer at Millwall (and back in January). Oh, apart from your Millwall mates that is 😉DOUCHER said:

'we are all' based on what / who ?? - i can only go by those i speak with and that's quite a lot - some r mates, some more aquaintances - you seem to be implying that i'm making it up - game of opinions but i think you've got a bang average manager anda lack of goals in your team - scraping low scoring wins last year with dull football, you better hope doughty livens things upMillwallFan said:

Dull football??? Really??? The Rowett days yes 100%, and at times under Harris. But under Alex Neil, not at all. The football has been very good. You implied previously that my judgement is bad but if that’s what your Millwall mates are telling you about our football under Neil then it’s them whose judgement is poor. Do they even go and watch Millwall? 🤷🏻DOUCHER said:

Bang average manager with 3 promotions under his belt at the age of 44? A nice calm head on the sidelines, you’ll struggle to find any of us who are unhappy with Neil’s style of management. When I say ‘we are all’ I’m talking about the general consensus across the forums and social media sites and the scores of Millwall fans I have regular contact and chats with. I know you have a few Millwall mates, but I’m pretty sure I have more. And the general consensus is we’ve done some excellent business this summer. Ok, Coburns heading is a bit suspect, but we’ve got the Serb for that. He scores headers for fun 😁0 -
most of them are typical millwall - they sit at home and watch on a dodgy stick and moan rather than actually supporting / helping the club by attending games - all say the football is dull / functional - i'm in a 'both teams to score' predictions group and there are a few millwall fans in there and we all agreed never to pick a millwall game coz a low scoring result with a 'nil' in it is a very frequent occurrence, whether a win or lose - whoever scores first type stuff and very predictable - not saying our football last year was the beautiful game but should at least be a bit different with the business we are doingMillwallFan said:

So you think that if a game is low scoring then the actual football must be dull? Yeah, I used to think that too… when I was about 12. 😁DOUCHER said:

You’ve done some good business but most of the players you’ve signed are from L1 or a team that has just been relegated to L1 so there’s an element of risk there. And it’s not like you got them on the cheap either. For the record, I think you’ve got enough to stay up, but it will certainly be an interesting season for both teams I think.2 -
So it was you that Jones keeps on referring to as being behind him but not behind him.AndyG said:

no, i've never thought low scoring necessarily means dull - i'm satisfied that millwall are a dull team given the opinions of the fans that i talk to so lets not go round in circles or invent things i haven't saidMillwallFan said:

Think after the disastrous Edwards experiment he was exactly what you need. You'll be solid midtable at least , assume the main thing now is holding onto Ivanovic even if the random Fab Romano rumours seem to have come to nothing.MillwallFan said:

Being a Spanner, I find it hard to believe Doughty's agent hasn't been in touch with Millwall 🤔
Once we established it was Doughty who's a spanner and not me last week, I always felt the Den was his next move.0 -
No confusion here - millwall, like other historically lower division clubs, view the championship as some sort of super league which is now miles away from league 1 - this belief is fuelled by the money sloshing about and paying silly money for average players - only 1 way we will find out and i'm confident that our manager who turned millwall down, knows what he's doing. Alex Neil is a safe pair of hands, i'll give you that.MillwallFan said:

no, i've never thought low scoring necessarily means dull - i'm satisfied that millwall are a dull team given the opinions of the fans that i talk to so lets not go round in circles or invent things i haven't saidMillwallFan said:
So you think that if a game is low scoring then the actual football must be dull? Yeah, I used to think that too… when I was about 12. 😁DOUCHER said:
most of them are typical millwall - they sit at home and watch on a dodgy stick and moan rather than actually supporting / helping the club by attending games - all say the football is dull / functional - i'm in a 'both teams to score' predictions group and there are a few millwall fans in there and we all agreed never to pick a millwall game coz a low scoring result with a 'nil' in it is a very frequent occurrence, whether a win or lose - whoever scores first type stuff and very predictable - not saying our football last year was the beautiful game but should at least be a bit different with the business we are doingMillwallFan said:
Dull football??? Really??? The Rowett days yes 100%, and at times under Harris. But under Alex Neil, not at all. The football has been very good. You implied previously that my judgement is bad but if that’s what your Millwall mates are telling you about our football under Neil then it’s them whose judgement is poor. Do they even go and watch Millwall? 🤷🏻DOUCHER said:
'we are all' based on what / who ?? - i can only go by those i speak with and that's quite a lot - some r mates, some more aquaintances - you seem to be implying that i'm making it up - game of opinions but i think you've got a bang average manager anda lack of goals in your team - scraping low scoring wins last year with dull football, you better hope doughty livens things upMillwallFan said:
We are all very happy with the recruitment we’ve made this summer at Millwall (and back in January). Oh, apart from your Millwall mates that is 😉DOUCHER said:
No need, he's a good player assuming he still has the pace / ability he had when with us so i've probably seen more of him - faster running with the ball than without was often said about him by others in the academy - would seem to be a good signing for you but given your recruitment so far this summer, that can't be guaranteed obviously.MillwallFan said:
Bang average manager with 3 promotions under his belt at the age of 44? A nice calm head on the sidelines, you’ll struggle to find any of us who are unhappy with Neil’s style of management. When I say ‘we are all’ I’m talking about the general consensus across the forums and social media sites and the scores of Millwall fans I have regular contact and chats with. I know you have a few Millwall mates, but I’m pretty sure I have more. And the general consensus is we’ve done some excellent business this summer. Ok, Coburns heading is a bit suspect, but we’ve got the Serb for that. He scores headers for fun 😁
You’ve done some good business but most of the players you’ve signed are from L1 or a team that has just been relegated to L1 so there’s an element of risk there. And it’s not like you got them on the cheap either. For the record, I think you’ve got enough to stay up, but it will certainly be an interesting season for both teams I think.1 -

Seen £7m mentioned as the fee for Broadhead which seems slightly high.0

£7.5million. Wrexham have arrived in the championship. Ipswich fans are gutted too.Steven81 said:Wrexham closing in on broadhead

We have made some fantastic signings and have a fantastic manager but this division is a relentless one. I’m confident, but we really do have our work cut out. Should be good fun,3 -
That's Wrexham's recruitment plan though and has been for several seasons. They overpay to sign players that wouldn't normally choose them.MarcusH26 said:Seen £7m mentioned as the fee for Broadhead which seems slightly high.4 -
Middlesbrough have accepted a £20m bid from Ipswich for Hayden Hackney, although the 'Boro press are not sure he wants to move.

That's absolutely crazy. Good player but £20m in the championship is just hard to fathomForeverAddickted said:Middlesbrough have accepted a £20m bid from Ipswich for Hayden Hackney, although the 'Boro press are not sure he wants to move.6 -
7m for a player with a year left on his contract is mental, good signing though.0
