It is always hard to let players go that get you promoted, but we do have a few that need replacing, I would like to see Dixon being given a few starts, and I would keep Godden, As much as I like Leaburn, sorry fella I think you need a season to prove your fitness, so maybe a loan?. Need two decent strikers, they will not be cheap, so would go for what is the best on offer prepared to play in the championship? Keep the rest, except..... But let go the following go.... Ahadme Watson Aneke Bouzanis McIntyre Gilbert Taylor Hylton Kanu Mbick AMB..... See if there is any money left, for a decent second keeper
I get why you’d get let those players go, other than Mbick - he only turned 18 earlier this season and came back from a long injury. Far too early to write him off.

Mbick needs a season of mens football. Somewhere in L2 would be great for a season
I wonder if Orient might be a good destination for loan for Dixon. Has pace which Wellens seems to like and it’s not too far away although I expect Jones will keep him around the place.

Yes, perhaps a bit harsh on my part, but not been impressed with the limited time I have seen him. So agree a loan probably the wisest on reflection. Like yourself Scoham I like to to support young players, but in the Championship, there is little room for sentiment, but that was a fair call

I was surprised he came into the first team as I thought while he was a threat in some of the u21 streams earlier in the season he was also raw, lacking with his touch or composure at times.
I agree the Championship is likely to be too big a step for him next season. Maybe one to go on loan, as I think he’ll need a bigger test than many u21 defences can offer him.

Dixon is nowhere near L1 ready
I can see Asiimwe going on loan in L1 but I don’t think many L1 clubs would gamble on Dixon when they could probably get a Prem u21 striker on loan.
If Nathan and Stephen Henderson decide AMB needs to goes out on loan to a League 1 or 2 club to play every week then Gareth Southgate's Godson Freddie Woodman may be an option to compete with Mannion for the Jersey. Played all his football over the last 3 seasons in the Championship at Preston and is experienced at 28. Will Mannion's jersey to lose but he needs competition.
Freddie may go to Man United as their number 3 keeper but if not his Dad Andy -Bromley manager and our ex Keeper coach and his family all live around Warlingham and he would settle at CAFC, no problem.
United would no doubt pay a better wage for a number 3 keeper than we could for a potential 2nd keeper.
Also remember in the championship you have 9 on the bench which we can't just feel with youngsters
But NJ told us he wanted a streamlined squad.
If that’s true I’m not sure naming 2 more on the bench (ours isn’t even physically big enough) changes that does it?
Last season. Promotion changes that. You need depth in the championship. Cannot get away with those risks in a league as tough as that. Young players should be extra not first back ups. We don't want a situation like last time when a few injuries mean you have a midfield of youth players like Ben Dempsey.
We'll need a much bigger squad if we are to stay up.

This is the dilemma isn’t it. How long have we had him ? A year ? Not ready after a year for third tier football and now we’re a Championship club so he’s presumably even further off being near the first team squad. We keep him at The Valley and work on him where he gets meaningless game time or do we ship him out in the hope he gets toughened up and more experience ? He is now 20 so although not old he’s not a kid either. I personally think he needs games now if not with us then elsewhere. He’ll sink or swim but at some point we’ve got to see what it’s going to be surely ?
Fullah will feature for sure- everyone is forgetting him
I think you're right, but I've not wanted to hype him up too much at this stage.
Enslin was the one who stood out to me in the u21 streams early on this season, but I've appreciated Fullah more after reflecting back on the season in the last month or so.
Considering he was 17 for most of it, was in the u18s a year ago, and regularly moved between CM, RWB and LWB he had a very good season in the u21s.
Initially seeing him at WB and with clips of his impressive u18 goals in mind I had him down as a dribbler, but while he can carry the ball well he's more of a creative passer. I think there's more to come from him in imposing himself on games, he can seem happy being tidy in possession, so a busier, more physical and aggressive player like Enslin can stand out more.
I think he's got a good football brain and two good feet, so he could step up and play with and against better players. I can see him progressing like Aribo did, with that technical ability and creativity eventually shining through.
I imagine the club have a plan for him that so far is going well. 23/24 u18s and first pro contract. 24/25 u21s, long term pro contract and first team debut. I wouldn't be surprised to see involvement in the first team in preseason and cup games as the next step.
There are a lot of assumptions on here that the likes of Mbick, Dixon, Enselin, Fullah etc might be loaned out. I am of the belief that there there is a point where someone is so young/inexperienced that a loan might be more detrimental than developmental. Each player is different so that might be different ages depending on the individual. Just look at Zac’s experience on loan last year. He struggled initially and then was benched for most of the season which I can’t believe helped his confidence or gained him much experience at all. He goes on loan this year and he clearly seemed more ready for the situation. I really think some of the youth might be better served staying and having the benefit of the interactions with the coaching staff while playing in the u21s
Teams promoted last season bought in 20 or so players each (across the summer and winter windows)
That’s a massive number , plenty saying ‘oh look last seasons promoted teams all stayed up’ well there you have it they clearly didn’t stand still and fanny about with the players that got them up . ship em out ship em in let the fun begin

Well of course I was being a little sarcastic as I don’t really buy that he fully wanted it that way this season.
He was being diplomatic in part I think.
The comments though about space on the training pitch and keeping everyone happy etc. would hold true next season too if fully true.
No idea who or how many we will get but as ever the irony of promotion is that many of those players will need to move on as they don’t fit the bill for the next rung up.
Seeing Dixon for Jamaica tells me he is going to play a part next season. Has come on so much since he last played for us. His feint is awesome. Two footed.
I’m sure NJ has everything covered and has shown he is ruthless in his decision making when needed but having become quite attached to this group it’s sad to face the inevitable exits but it’s football.
