Well, I'm glad I got the email telling me there were still tickets available. Got even more excited when I saw the list of sports that had links thinking that there was still availability. However, the links were just to pages that had "No Availability"
Talk about rubbing it in! I've had to open nearly every page to find out that I still can't pay even a bit more to the sports that I want to see.
I applied for about £2k worth and got nowt. They were all for athletics and the veledrome so no great shock although my bruv (£3k application) and his girlfriend both got some tickets.
I think I've got 2 tickets for the football final at Wembley (Men). The amount debited from my account equals 2 tickets plus admin fee. Didn't get any athletics.
Got an Email to say I've got some tickets but not which events.
Oh well
Does seem ridiculous. Why the wait - they've taken the money, so they know what tickets we have, so why not tell us and confirm it. Especially if they are going to get in touch with us anyway. Understood it would be oversubscribed so you can't complain about not getting loads of tickets, but this part of the process is ridiculous

Agree but not that fussed as it is over 12 months away. Will my life be worse for not knowing for 7 days more? Not really.
Just got a mail saying that I got zilch tickets out of 1.600GBP!
Second chance list holds absolutely no sports of interest to me. So it looks like that instead of heading to London in 2012 we will be heading far away on holiday instead.
I think those (including myself) that have been allocated their 'makeweight' tickets will be looking to offload.
If you had it in your head that you would be setting off for the athletics, swimming and cycling each day with your packed lunch in your hand then that bubble has been burst.
Particularly those not in the south east who were planning a week or so in London will not bother just to watch one session of the early rounds of the rowing or the like.
When it was first announced that London was getting the games I was wildly enthusiastic but now I couldn't give a toss - it particularly makes my toes curl when Seb Coe smugly lists out how many Strategic Objectives he has met.
For all those people complaining about the way the ticket allocation process was organised - and it's understandable that we're all a bit annoyed we didn't get tickets for the 100m final ! - I am yet to hear anybody tell me of a better way it could be organised.
First come first served? Behave!
By the time the "Olympic family", the sponsors, the corporate packages and the pay through the nose tour packages have all been catered for there was never going to be much left for the poor buggers that are paying for the bloody thing. Sad fact of life I'm afraid.

One reason many of us questioned the wisdom of trying to get the event in the first place!
Does anybody know how many tickets were allocated to the "Olympic family", the sponsors, the corporate packages ? I think there are 6.6million for public
"Number of Olympic tickets: 8.8 million Number of Olympic tickets on sale to the public: 6.6 million → Number of tickets given to sponsors, hospitality, international sales, media and IOC officials: 2.2 million You can moan, you can whinge, you can complain how terribly unfair it is that 25% of the tickets weren't available to the public. And yes, in some high-profile events you'd be right to complain, because far more than 25% of the tickets were withheld for this reason. But remember that without sponsors we'd be spending far more of our taxes to pay for the Games, whereas this way big business keeps our share down. And you might still be lucky enough to win one of the sponsors' tickets through a product-related competition, they're not all for employees. Bet you don't though."
Rothko, thanks for the link in your 2.04PM post - it explains it all very nicely, why few got any athletics tickets. It's because only a quarter were available (for the 100M final anyway).
If you have been awarded tickets, the 2012 site's been updated with what you've got if you log in.
(I have football preliminaries (2 matches), men's hockey preliminaries (2 matches), table tennis quarter finals and one of the gold medal events in shooting - a brisk morning's stroll from my place.)
Congratulations! You have been allocated some of the greatest tickets on earth!
This email is from the London 2012 Ticketing team, confirming that your Olympic Games ticket application has now been processed. Your new Olympic Games ticket reference number is xx xxxxx
We are delighted to confirm that you have been allocated the following tickets to the London 2012 Olympic Games:
Sport: Athletics Session code: AT007 Venue: OLYMPIC STADIUM Date/Time: 06 AUGUST 2012 18:50 Price category: E Quantity: 3
Got tickets for the Shooting - at least I'm going to the event closest to home. The Olympics in Woolwich, who would have thought it?
Disappointed to miss out on Basketball tickets, having been a fan for 30 years and knowing that the stadiums will be full of non-basketball fans (mainly corporate) with no understanding of whats going on. However, the US team (James, Wade, Bryant, Durant and Howard) are the only team worth watching, and the random selection could have been Puerto Rico v China or France v Serbia for bundles. Better to watch the NBA games at the O2.
Similarly, the football could be Japan v Nigeria at Wembley. Particularly as Argentina have failed to qualify, leaving Brazil as the only real attraction
Go to the preparation events. I'm in for the Basketball in August. The Volleyball at Earls Court is free in July, as are the indoor sports at the O2 in October/November. The Athletics test event is in the new year, as is the Cycling.
