Officers are preparing for the "largest ever football policing operation in Hampshire" ahead of the Portsmouth v Southampton derby.

The clubs meet for their Carabao Cup tie tonight, the first time they have played each other since 2012.

Riot police, police dogs, helicopters, horses and drones will be deployed.

Hampshire Constabulary said the police presence was needed to stop a "small minority ruining it for everyone".

Feel for Preston can see City getting 7 or 8 tonight

Imagine spending your hard earned on making that, hillbillies

One derby where I really don’t care about, Pompey are about as unlikeable as Southampton both talk funny

The Daily Mirror refer to this game as the 'El Clasicoast'.

Don’t like either club, don’t like either sets of fans. Bunch of weirdos who think they’re so much bigger and better than they are. Find it funny how poorly Portsmouth are doing this season and to be getting beaten against their biggest rivals at home just makes it a little more sweeter. Can someone find that picture of Marquis crying? Always cheers me up too.

and they bloody well deserved it too.  Funny though, I'm not at all surprised.
Same old same old, plenty of possession, no creativity and unable to break the opposition down.
They deserve the pelters they'll get in the next few days.

Don't understand Poch's attitude to these cups, as they need to win something. They're not going win the Premier League, and the Champions League is a long shot really, so the 2 domestic cups are their great opportunity to actually win something

Wenger got a bit of stick for just finishing season after season in the top 4, but won FA Cups as well

The stick they’re going to get is very well deserved. The recent results and performances are so poor for this Tottenham side. What is going on because something clearly isn’t right?

To be fair to Poch, the team he put out tonight was strong enough to easily win the game. Just something is not right and he must be starting to put himself under pressure. Will he be here next season?

Will he be here next month?

He really doesn't look or sound a happy bunny at the moment.

Stoke knocked out on penalties by Crawley, Jones needed the confidence boost of ANY win

Losing 4-0 at home to Soton won't help Jackett either

Think thats the end of Jones, can see Pulis going back there.

    Strange bunch Pompey.

4-0 down and singing their heads off.

We get dicked by Millwall like we normally do and I can’t even speak to anyone for a week, let alone have a sing song

It’s amazing what a crap start Pompey have had and they spent a fair bit over the window league 1 this year looks wide open.

Jones at stoke think get nothing from forest the weekend and he may be gone

No you’re right. He doesn’t look happy. If you compare him now to when Spurs were trying to win the league when Leicester won it, he’s a different person. Maybe he has had too many restrains in the past and he has gone a bit stale with this group of players. Because they’re a talented squad. If he isn’t happy, it’s not going to make someone like Eriksen happy. Could see both being at Real Madrid this time next season.

Genuinely good proper football fans, shame they didn’t get a goal to shout about.

Almost certainly I’d say. If they lose on Friday night, their next game is at home to Huddersfield, already a six pointer even at this early stage. After that they’ve got some tough games to come as well.

Lose on Friday and not win against Huddersfield on the following Tuesday, they could well be bottom of the league with a quarter of the season gone, without winning a single league game. Jones would be out of the job for sure.

I don't recall the Fratton support being that loud when WE played them! Today was their cup final really.

Pompey also lost 2 of their best players too. It does seem that a few losing playoff teams in L1 seem to struggle a bit the following season. Bradford 2 years ago, Shrewsbury and Scunthorpe last season, Pompey this season

I know it was only league 2 Colchester but playing a midfield of Dier, Wanyama and Skipp wasn't really helping much. 3 defensive minded midfielders means no creativity.

They have made a dreadful start but they do have 2-3 games in hand on the rest of the division.

I'm sure they'll get it right once they work out how to play to Marquis' strengths as he's not clicked into gear there yet.
