MotoGP rider almost causes major crash

https://metro.co.uk/2018/09/09/motogp-rider-romano-fenati-blasted-for-nearly-causing-horrific-crash-by-grabbing-rivals-brakes-during-race-7928189/?ito=social

What on earth was he playing at, he could easily of killed the bloke.

Twat needs to be banned

I cant believe anyone would actually do that, the sport is dangerous enough as it is.

If the other rider hadnt regained his composure then Romano Fenati could easily be up on a manslaughter charge

  • The sort of thing that can happen when a brake is interfered with:

It's a shame motorcycle racing only gets media coverage in the UK when something bad happens.
  • That was horrendous! Should be banned for the rest of the season minimum.
  • Only a 2 race ban... HOW?
  • The others riders in the series should get together and refuse to race with him.
  • His team should have sent him straight out the back of the garage and said never come back.

Shameful that they haven’t done that yet - though maybe they still will.

Never want to see him near a race track ever again
  • Just watched this for the first time - shocking.

Not only should he get a lifetime ban from the sport but surely what he did is a criminal offence - or if it isn't then it should be.
  • Staggered. I can't think of any comparable incident in motorsport
  • Horrific ! I remember this back in the day , fortunately all walked away .

Sacked by his current team now as well.

Sure there's a 'heat of the moment', but he has to know that this is the outcome of what he did at the time. It's not some amateur championship, it's going to be seen. I don't get it.
  • Has said sorry.

Not good enough in my opinion, he needs to face criminal charges, could easily have lead to a death

A few weeks ago in the middle a bike race up here I watched two scousers literally shoving and throwing punches at each other at 50km/h after arguing about who should be chasing the break up the road (they both should have been - they had four riders each in the race and neither of them had a man in the break). If they had come down, highly likely they'd have taken out several other riders with them./ People do stupid things in races - any kind of races. It's the equivalent of the 'red mist'.
  • I saw this on the telly this morning and couldn't believe what I was seeing. Rossi kicking Márquez was bad enough but grabbing someone's brake is beyond the pale. Glad to hear he's been sacked and sacked again!
  • I recall last season Vettel driving into Hamilton in anger! I don't think it is excusable though - Vettel got off too lightly, but it wasn't as dangerous as this. When the punishments are harsh, people will control their tempers better!
  • they should make it more like road rash anyway

Classic game. Loved it,the chain was the best weapon of choice
  • In the light of this event, I thought I'd post up something that happened at the Goodwood Revival on Sunday. Watch the slow-mo replay of Troy Corser's overtake at around 5:10 minutes in. Cheeky!

I was there over the weekend and it was great watching him claw back the lead. That bike is a 1920's BMW and was hammering machines much younger than it (although it was supercharged).

I've got a good video of him celebrating on the slow down lap, standing up on the bike, hands free.

As always, it was a fantastic weekend.

Yeah, I was there too. An excellent event (helped by Maserati paying and not me!). And a good opportunity to drool over some of the machinery. I understand an Austin J40 pedal car sold for £6.5k at the auction......gulp! Shame about the Cortina's massive crash though - I guess that's a write-off?

Looked pretty well mangled to me when it went past on the pick up truck.

One slight disappointment was the lack of air displays. There's usually a few throughout the weekend but they just had 3 spits and a hurricane do a few flypasts first thing Saturday and presumably the same on Sunday (we got there too late to catch it)
