A big difference is they have a forward line and we don't. It's not KRs fault it's RDs. For a decent crowd, thought the atmosphere was poor.
Football for a Fiver always brings in crowds that aren't really interested. Behind me were two dads who had five kids in tow. The kids (6-8 year olds) were fitted out with scarves etc and spent the entire match kicking the seats in front of them, despite repeated requests to desist, and playing on their phones. Not one of them watched the game.
We may have been taught many sharp lessons this season but we seem actually to have learned precious little from them.
Shrews were good to watch. They were the equal of Wigan but not so dirty. Their progress since our 3-0 victory early last season is astonishing.
Sad to say I think KR is indelibly labelled as a part of a jinxed regime, and sooner rather than later this group of talented but under-achieving players must be put into more effective hands. Nathan Jones for one would work wonders.
We’ve won 5 of our last 18 league games. 4 of those wins were against teams currently placed 24th,23rd,22nd,21st. The other win was against mid table Walsall. Robinson is God
Great to see the Covered End full in bright sunshine. Really happy to be back at the Valley. It was heartening to see a more full Valley & evidence of potential support under a different & better change of ownership. Pity Charlton supporters were not able to celebrate that today.
Charlton started brightly but as other people have said above, were completely outclassed by a fitter, more cohesive, sharper, better coached, better tactically set up team which had proper belief. The game was over as a contest at 2-0 & 67 mins.
Charlton were second to the ball throughout, the midfield was totally overrun. It lacked the spark that Ricky Holmes would have brought. Not the perfect player but the team today lacked leaders & spirit. If by some good fortune get to the playoffs. Not seeing the organisation & quality that will get them through.
It just shows what can be achieved with a decent manager with proper coaching & decent tactics. Charlton will only get that with a change of ownership & a manager with tactical nouse & flexibility. The sooner that journey can start the better.

I know Karl rates him, and some want him as captain but I've never rated Pearce and despite it being his first game back he just looks slow, out of position and prone to giving away fouls, and that's only the ones he gets pulled up on.
Bauer and Konsa are my central defence all day every day.
First time I have been to a game for over a year - was hoping that the takeover would have been announced and the Charlton could move into bright sunlit uplands again ( and I could buy a season next year ).
My wife brought me two tickets for today as a valentines present ( is she fed up with me being around on a Saturday I ask?) and they were in a great position in the West Stand, second row back in D Block, just to the right of the Charlton dugout. I was was intrigued to be so close to the heart of action.
What was interesting was the total lack of any reaction from KR from when the goals were scored - I mean no reaction whatsoever - no emotion - nothing. Was shocked at the response and total lack of urgency. Really didn't look like a man who was engaged with events on the pitch at all and who was just going through the motions.
Anyway drove to my local Weatherspoons to cheer myself up watching England beat Scotland...
Sad saying it (and not putting the blame for today on him over and above the rest of the team) but Solly increasing looks like a shadow of himself, both when defending and going forward.
Even if we did make the play offs, I cannot see this team getting promoted. They don't have enough goals in them and they certainly don't have enough characters, a la the Shirtliff and KInsella captained play off winning teams.
Outclassed and given a thorough seeing to by an exceptionally good and expertly coached Shrewsbury side. They were very good when they were out of possession, pressing intelligently and hunting in packs and regularly forcing us into low quality percentage balls down the middle or the channels, where - even if he got to the ball - there was no one to latch onto any flick ons that Magennis won.
It doesn’t help, of course, that most of our players were pretty static. To compound matters, the opposition won practically every second ball, given their greater fitness, desire and organisation.
When they had the ball - which was most of the time - Shrewsbury gave us a lesson in how to use it. Pass and move (that old trick) was the order of the day and, as well as utterly dominating the midfield, they looked dangerous every time they came forward. I thought their number 20, Nolan, was outstanding (penalty miss aside) and he really dictated the tempo of the game, especially in our half.
As to Charlton, what consolations can be taken from such a thoroughly insipid performance (the first six minutes aside) ? We looked shaky at the back - with both Pearce and Solly particularly weak - and were utterly outplayed in midfield, although Kashi (unlike the pedestrian JFC) at least attempted to make a fist of it in the second half, even if many of his challenges ended in free kicks. KaiKai turned in a lamentable performance, Magennis, who was largely isolated, worked hard with no real support and our best moments came from Joe Aribo’s ability to create something in tight spaces. I thought he also did pretty well at left back after Jay Da Silva’s injury.
Fosu predictability livened things up when he came on but his dipping shot which just cleared the bar was the only effort on goal I can recall us having in the second half.
All pretty depressing and a worryingly poor performance for a team with play-off/promotion ambitions. I think that Karl Robinson and his coaching staff (inexperienced though they are) really do need to reflect on the chasm between the two teams today and what they need to do to try and bridge it. I really do hope that they pip Wigan or Blackburn to one of the automatic places. Had a bellend in front of me that spent most of the game taking selfies of himself - he actually turned around to get the pitch in the background and was pouting whilst doing so. He got a bit of stick from those around him, but was oblivious to it.
Just home. I had a really good day. Except for the football.

So many of our players just crap today. Honourable mentions for Big Josh, Jay D S and Fosu when he came on. Dishonourable mentions for the rest.

It was bad enough having to sit through the second 49 minutes as Shrewsbury bossed us and toyed with us but reading all these negative reviews tonight has made it all the worse.
Today was a test for this club as to where we are in the heirarchy of League 1 and the answer was clear for all to see - miles away from where we should be.
Yes, congrats to Shrewsbury for a dominant performance but they really weren’t that good - we were so bad second half that we allowed them to play and we made them look good.
Do football managers look at other, more successful teams playing styles, their set up, their work rate, their system? Today it looked like Robinson never watches other teams because Shrewsbury played the game we should have played - worked hard, organised, had a system, pressed, closed down, gave us little time on the ball, won 80% of 2nd ball - yes, we were that bad.
To get real, today, Solly, Kaikai and Marshall didn’t deserve to be on the park. Solly, great respect for his years at the club and he’s one of our own, but, guys and gals, he is shot, simple as - and with Marshall on the same flank it was happy days for the Shrews who exposed this glaring imbalance in our set up to a tee.
Marshall and Solly - for the penalty - Solly in possession, Marshall, for whatever reason on the edge of the centre circle instead of being wide - all Marshall has to do is to run wide and give Solly an option but he stays put, passes the ball back to Solly who gets overrun and the rest is history.
We are clueless and our work rate is simply not good enough.

I have stated many times that I wish Robinson well, and that is still the case, but he has failed to fire up the players, who, on a day when they had pride of place on the park in front of the biggest crowd of the season, in front of potential customers, failed to step up when called upon.
My first game this season and felt like I had been overcharged by about a fiver, it was like watching a bunch of seven year olds playing their dads. Absolutely shocking performance and Gobinson is clueless! And it was bastard cold.
Was it golfie a few weeks back said we would be lucky to finish in top 10 i think he might be right.

I've said it many times. KR is no coach. He has no idea how to put a team together. We have 11 individuals doing their own thing. Marshall is getting worse as every game goes by (his fault for the pen as he didn't make space for Solly). Solly should be dropped & Kaikai should be sent back to Palace. Anyone want to take me up on my bet that I made on transfer deadline day that him & Zryo combined would get less goals than KAG ??
As for KR............what were those substitutions ??? LB off injured & replaced by Ajose to play in midfield & Aribo to LB. Put on JJ who is at least left-footed & has played there a number of times. As for Zyro - is it written in the loan deal that he can't come on until the 90th min ?? Was on the touchline for at least 5 mins & the ball had gone out of play 3 times before he came on. He should have come on after 60 mins & played 2 up front. KR should stick to nicking hubcaps.
The first thing a new owner should do, even before he is photographed with scarfy infront of the West Stand is to ring KR & tell him to pack his bags.
PS. What happened to the end of the game huddle ?? Does it only make an appearance when we win ?? Total bollox. Either you're all together or your not. And did the players clap the fans as they went off ?? One minute they were shaking hands with the Shrews players (probably introducing themselves as they hadn't got close to them all game) I looked at the full time scores, looked back & the players had all trooped off. DISGRACEFUL.
Fair play to Shrewsbury they were in total control for the majority of the game, no disrespect to them but sums up how low we have sunk. Like Gobbo but he really doesn't have a plan b. Shit atmosphere in the North lower, a few tossers having a pop at the fiver day trippers like that will convince them to come back. Solly needs resting brings nothing to the game. Noticed the club shop was doing a roaring trade before the game. For me it's a five hour round trip which I'll continue to make but ffs I hope the takeover happens soon as the enjoyment is waining.
Bought extra tickets for the whole family thinking this would be a celebration game at the end of a very difficult month personally. I’ should have realised that after a decade of almost constant failure, bar SCP, you can’t expect CAFC to raise your spirits. Particularly when it comes to a big game they end up making you wish you’d never gone. My kids won’t want to go again in a hurry. I expect that’s the case for around 10,000 others.

I took my Polish neighbours to the match (they've only ever been to four matches between them before). After ten minutes they said, 'you're good, but why are you so small.' Sort of summed up the team and the day really.
