Loved him back when he was with us but  if JRS hadn't played for us before absolutely no one would be asking for him now. Massively out of form player in a position we don't play.
If jones is going to set up like he did against hull then he can sure play the role fevrier played
Sorry I should have corrected myself and said knibbs or Carey, not fevrier

Talking of oldies, Matt Doherty has left Wolves. Some reports say he's retired.
So what ? .. he'd do a terrific job for us for a season or two IF he's not retired. I doubt he'd take a gigantic drop in salary though

Otherwise, Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes would give our midfield a much needed uplift. Hope Jones & Co are on the case

Fevrier played there against Swansea though

The only place he would fit in our team would be as a second striker... Nowhere near strong enough to play wingback
Based on last couple of games of the season think we will switch to a 3-4-2-1 attack/5-2-2-1 defence next season rather than the 3-4-1-2 last season. Would allow for a combo or Carey, Knibbs, TC and possibly JRS (think there could be something in this too - he loves our gaff and players) behind a lone striker. We shall see. Stuff has to start happening soon.
I just don’t think Rak-Sakyi is a Nathan Jones player at all. If we play that system he’s going to want 2 attacking midfielders to press from the front with energy. TC, Carey and Knibbs are good for this, Rak-Sakyi isn’t

I’m sure we are looking to add players of higher quality which JRS fits, but I can’t see Jones signing anyone that doesn’t fit his bare minimum requirements of being good out of possession

Got more chance of finding a petrol station open in East Belfast tonight, than signing either of those, mate....

    Dear Charlton Life,

JRS is an exciting, skillful ball player who can score goals and produce goal assists.

He's just not my type of player.

    Regards
    Nathan

I can’t believe people are trying to equate TC and JRS in terms of current ability and upside potential.  TC is not even close to JRS skill wise.
You are probably right, but based on the last 6 months, you’d be hard pushed to know who had the better current ability. His loans have been getting progressively worse and his last loan went terribly.

Let’s be honest, his career has majorly stalled. If we had another manager, I think we’d be in for him but I can’t see Jones being keen. He is still really good friends with TC and Leaburn from what I gather. Agree with the poster further up. Could definitely see him signing for Milwall this summer.

Anyone enthusing about JRS should re-watch his penalty against Brighton in the League Cup last sixteen.   :p
No-one said he should be put to sleep.

That was then. This is now. Jayden Stockley was pretty effective when he first joined us. Would you like to sign him now?

I'm not sure NJ has this irrational aversion to skillful players that is made out by some. I totally believe him when he says he wants us to be a better attacking side that can take the game to the opposition more, it's just that he won't tolerate players slacking when we don't have the ball. Fair enough too, defending is a huge part of the game, and successful teams tend to be good defensively too.

He's also happy to coach players to improve that side of their game as long as they want to learn and put the work in. I can't speak for JRS' attitude but I don't think he would automatically be ignored by NJ just because he's not got that defensive side to his game at the moment.

On the TC vs JRS thing. As other's have said - the gap between the two was wide when we had JRS on loan and I don't argue with the idea that JRS has the higher potential and "skill". However, since NJ has been here, TC has played regularly, had his confidence rebuilt, and been coached a consistent message to fit the way we play. JRS has bounced around loans and coaches with mixed success and definitely appears to have stalled somewhat in his development.

Neither are the finished article, and have different strengths and weaknesses, anyway, but, overall, I suspect the gap between the two is much smaller than it was 22/23. I don't think that is a crazy thing to say, but obviously some seem to disagree.

I am not saying we should sign JRS.  What I am saying is we are significantly overrating TC

This guy will be dedicating a podcast to TC within two years:

Stockley was brilliant in a Jackson system Garner came him and he was absolutely useless.

Exact same premises would apply to JRS in a Holden system compared to a Jones system and considering we’ve complained so much over recent years about constantly trying to put square pegs in round holes debating bringing JRS back shouldn’t even be a discussion.

We’re just in dire need of some rumours I’d take anyone at this point this thread is hanging on life support

If a player is accused of being lazy, you should probably factor their skin colour into the accusation. Charlie Kirk was talented but troubled, ineffective, finding it hard to adapt. Only right at the end was it realised that he just didn't have the drive to try harder. TC runs like a madman every moment he's on the pitch and the racist **** behind you still shouts about how he's lazy

Charlie Kirk was given some leeway at the start because his dad had just died, not because of his colour.
It was very clear from the first game to his last with us that his heart wasn't in it.
Whether idiots shouting at TC are racist or plane stupid I have no idea but it certainly annoys me as it is so very clear he is not lazy and is very talented.

So Leuth are you saying a person who has a difference of opinion to you about a player who happens to be black, then they are automatically a "racist **** " as above quote. Blimey you need to see a Doctor mate IMO.
No, I'm saying that there's a type of person who specifically calls out TC as lazy when he's anything but, with a specific undertone. I was the first to swear and moan when Jordan Cousins gave the ball away for the tenth time per game, or CBT put in his usual cross to nowhere, but I'd never have called either of them lazy.

I can't believe I forgot my favourite one. The Akin Famewo ball up the line that ends in row F of the touchline stand. Psychic damage for years

I swear I put up with Michael Hector being a teensy bit lazy (okay he actually was) because the merest sight of a properly ball-playing centre-back in the desolate post-Naby era was essentially my wildest, most delirious fantasy at this point

Don't see how you can be offended by that rhetoric and suggest he needs to see a Doctor unless you identify with it? I don't think he said anything about people having an opinion on a player. TC clearly isn't lazy, he's not perfect by any metric but he works hard despite getting jeers from home supporters, I must say it makes me a little uncomfortable as to where the accusations of not putting effort in might stem from for some (to be specifically clear for the snowflakes SOME not all)

If TC wasn’t our player and we were linked with him I think people would be excited by it. He’s come through our ranks and familiarity breeds contempt. Our youth products are it seems to me to be viewed as world beaters or not up to it. In most cases it’s neither. I hope he signs a new contract because he has a lot to offer.
Our youth products have (for me) always been a source of ‘pride’ in our system, even going back to the days of Keith Peacock, Marvin Hinton and Billy Bonds. How our support can have a down on any of them baffles me, I will certainly cut them extra slack because they are indeed for the most part one of our own.
Even though he is not with us now, Jason Adigun making progress is something I am glad about.

I agree with you both, do you not think all the loans JRS has had may have affected his performance, perhaps he
just needs to have a permanent home where he feels settled and wanted

Really pleased to see this. And not at all surprised.

I remember watching a few youth games on Charlton TV when Anderson and Adigun were in midfield and Adigun looked by far the better player. Always surprised we never gave him more of a chance.
