Superb today.0

if we ddint have him we would be in massive trouble, immense player2
-
What a player by the way! Him and collins next year and hopefully dare enough, gulp, to change to a back 40
-
I’m genuinely starting to believe he’s not human. 🫶2

It’s a measure of how good he’s been this season that a performance like he put in today didn’t really standout because it’s just the level he’s been producing week after week. Probably deserves even more praise than he’s been getting, not that he’s what you would call under appreciated.Absolute shoe in for player of the season, probably two lengths ahead of Bell and Carey.3

I think I'm probably Lloyd's biggest fan, but that was a mistimed, and therefore very poor header for their goal. Heading out centrally is a complete no no.1

Two more games to go to avoid a 10th booking of the season and a two match ban.
Not sure he can do it.0 -
Might not be the worst thing for his ankle if he can’tsuperclive98 said:Two more games to go to avoid a 10th booking of the season and a two match ban.

Agree with that but not sure how well the team would cope without him.fenaddick said:

Would be a very bad thing for us though as he would miss Oxford.0 -
Can’t really afford it if Burke and potentially Sichenje are injured. Hopefully he manages to walk the tightrope.superclive98 said:

I know there’s a lot left of the season to play but I think he has a strong case for EFL team of the season. If charlton was closer to the playoffs than the relegation zone he’d be a shoe in. Second highest rated player on WhoScored behind Azeez.1

I think he plays Saturday and if not booked, he'll be rested for Boro so plays at Oxford.3
-
As much as that is probably the smartest decision. We’ve seen Lloyd play with a fractured tibia, through illness and a destroyed ankle he’s not getting a minutes rest until we are mathematically safe from the dropbolloxbolder said:I think he plays Saturday and if not booked, he'll be rested for Boro so plays at Oxford.0 -
Unless he gets a booking in the next two games or gets injured.Crispywood said:

Can we wrap him in cotton wool between games please?0

The way he finished post-match interview on Saturday was superb."I love it here, it feels like my home. I love the staff, I love my team mates, I love the fans, I love every minute of it."9
-
POTY wrapped up on Saturday (as if it wasn't already). He has to be made official club captain in the Summer and given a new contract.5

Does anyone know if Nathan has applied the Lloyd Jones 2.2.3 update yet?2

Such a player. Just an unbelievable cool head, rarely gets flustered. My highlight of the season was his fury / anger at the bench trying to take him off when he was sick on the sidelines against Birmingham away in December and he came on and was just imperious as usual.
Hope he can lead a better team to greater feats next season.2 -
Amazing level of consistency.2
-
He has that Luke Young sort of quality of being good no matter what, even with bad performances/results there's often comments to the effect of "except Jones" or him being let down by others rather than his own mistakes.hoof_it_up_to_benty said:Amazing level of consistency.

Seems to me like a player making up for lost time / recognising that he’s at a place that suits him - he’s the best ball attacking centre back in the division and I’m sure NJ will continue to set the defence up in a way that suits Lloyd which is currently the case. Get the rest of our team up to the level of our defence and we’ll be laughing1

Sichenje can learn bucket loads playing alongside him.4

Lloyd is 31 in October. His career has had some huge ups and downs: two professional contracts at Liverpool, but also loan moves to divisions below and time as a free agent. He had an awkward start to life at Charlton; unlucky with injuries but also inconsistent form, and I’m sure we could dig up some comments on here disparaging him. But over time he settled, he found some form and has now clearly found a home. Maybe he was a late developer, maybe he just needed to find the right combination of club and manager to maximise his strengths. It’s clear though, that patience has had huge benefits for both player and club.Who knows exactly what has led to his imperious form, but it shows you is that it’s not always wise to write players off after six months. Especially true if they’re playing in a new system, have injury or adjustment issues when joining a new club, or if they’re simply just inexperienced at the level.3

Not playing alongside T.Thomas has probably helped!!!, sorry TT😬elbiglad said:Lloyd is 31 in October. I think Jones the manager said in an interview that during last season's pre-season Lloyd Jones has been saying 'this season in going to do this and do that and improve' Jones the manager said 'anyone can talk about what they are going to do, lets see you do it then' and he clearly has. Whatever changes he made, they've worked. Most consistent player whether fit or slightly injured against all comers.1

Just goes to show what a talent Michael Appleton was. Imagine being such a bad manager you manage to make Lloyd Jones look like a donkey1
