SW should not be able to buy players until next summer at the earliest.
It would be totally unacceptable for some to play them early Jan and then they strengthen, meaning those teams that play them afterwards have less chance of winning. Also they should not be afforded the opportunity to start building a team for next season and have six months of training and playing together so they have a distinct advantage next season.
Rules is rules, and they broke them. The punishment should not be lifted mid season.

The 15 point deduction for next season would make being able to pay fees a bit moot as not many players will want to go there

All depends on how much they will be paying them. Pay enough, or above more than enough, players will come.

Administrator announced that they are proceeding with a preferred bidder. No names given but the BBC have strongly suggested who it is (not Mike Ashley). Bloke seems to have fingers in many pies and looking like another one of these multi-club owners. Not sure how that will go down with the EFL and if I was a SW fan I wouldn't be too enamoured with the choice of owner.

He also plans to spend more than 25p on the £ to debtors so they’ll avoid that 15 point penalty next season

Former Poker Player James Bord has been named the preferred bidder. Runs an AI/Analytics firm and formerly worked for Tony Bloom.

Owns Dunfermline and a couple of stakes in European sides

The buy out seems complicated, never like these multi owner  consortiums as you never know who actually is the driving force. Also prone to people having falling outs and then an internal conflict.
In the case of Wednesday it will also probably mean a protracted fit and proper persons revue, as the EFL will need to know who has say over running the club, the front man does not sound to good at being involved with football clubs.

    Sounds dodgy, I’m glad.
  • I know somebody who used to work with this guy. Said he was a c-word who ended up stealing money from the outfit and running off, and that he’ll be a disaster for Wednesday 🤷‍♂️

Suddenly Mike Ashley seems the reasonable option 😳

Don't suppose he ran off to Dubai did he? A lot of those types do.
  • Wednesday fans don't seem too happy at this. The general opinion is basically how did they have multiple bidders and this guy was deemed to be the best option.

A poker player, a relative of the Jordanian Royal Family, and a "crypto bro" have been named as the preferred bidder consortium for Sheffield Wednesday.

I'd love to hear the punchline to those three walking into a pub!!

The whole thing just strikes me as one that will collapse at the first bit of EFL scrutiny and it'll end up being Mike Ashley in the end.

Mike Ashley is a decent owner.

He won’t take a club into administration.

He always said at Newcastle that every single penny the club makes gets reinvested straight back into the club. He never took a penny from them, he just understood that throwing hundreds of millions of his own money was not the best way to run a club

Whatever happened to those short sponsors we had, the Robot guys.

With the millions they made, that we all foolishly missed out on, can't they buy a football club?
